This info was buried down in the gameplay reveal thread. Info was posted by fellow GAF member MarquesZero, so all credit goes to him.

Naughty Dog says that "a considerable amount of time" has passed between U3 and 4.
Drake on PS4 has 800 facial combinations compared to PS3 Drake's 120.
Some Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOpz6Wu5Mxw
Every single hair moves with wind and water. Hair has true physics, can get wet and move around as you run.
Same amount of detail put in supporting cast: http://i.imgur.com/SRjMZCO.jpg
Naughty Dog says even Nathan Drake's chest hair is affected by wind physics in Uncharted 4.

Some images from the panel.

But is it tressfx? Nah, I'm really glad everybody's hair reaches now. It was so weird when Nathan war getting wet in the previous games but everybody else was just fine.

Chest hair? Is that where we're at now?

Oh well, if nothing else, Tomb Raider is obviously going to have a hard time lifting that idea ;)

Hillarious that ppl tried to downplay the graphics in the other thread.

ND are known to be one of the best in the business, just look at their track record combined with the hardware they worked with.

Alas we will be too busy slaughtering enemies to notice these thousands of facial combinations.

Sounds incredibly impressive. I hope they're able to hit a solid 60fps by launch. Real physics on everything sounds like a true next generational leap, but it's not going to be as noticeable as a sheer leap in polygons and probably won't be as appreciated.

What's even more hilarious (or pathetic, however you might take it) is that some people said they "understood why so many people from Naughty Dog left" after seeing the PSX footage, as if the game was shaping out to be so underwhelming that people left because they didn't want to be assosiated with it or something. Lulz.

What everyone wants to know.....how does Drake's hair stay up after getting soaked. What kind of sorcery is this?

I actually prefer attention to detail vs. absolute quality of graphics. Some people were dissing the graphics while I was being thoroughly amazed by the foliage and its movement.

I appreciate that they're going for a more realistic art style this time around, but I don't see why they had to change his whole jawline and give him cheekbone implants on the way. If anything, this new lantern-jawed fucking specimen is less realistic than Classic Drake. What kind of person's jaw gets squarer and more defined as they age? You could set your watch by that thing. These two dudes have a totally different facial structure:

Between this and the way they botched Elena's face in U3, I think Naughty Dog is way too cavalier with their characters' faces. Uncharted isn't like Metal Gear, where everyone gets a completely new face with every game; Nate and friends are recognisable from their facial models alone. You can't go turning him into a different dude four games in.

I think everyone should download the 2.1gb direct feed video from gamersyde before talking about the graphics of the demo. I thought it looked really good when I was watching the streaming, but only when I watched it in good quality I realize the level of detail that they are putting into this game, it really is an amazing work by ND.

Also, you can see his hair getting wet in the close combat part of the gameplay, it's looking good.

I entirely disagree, he still clearly looks like Drake, and there was nothing wrong with Elena's model in U3. All returning cast members have improved with each game, increasing detail without making them look like different people. It has been very skillfully done, imo.

Didn't see every strand of hair moving in the tech demo or the pre alpha. Just the top part so far. Looking forward to seeing that tech implemented fully in the final product.

Elena's face was off. As if she had a slight plastic surgery.

New Drake looks awesome, though.

Did they mention of 60fps is still a target? I assume so, they just locked to 30fps for the demo showing because current build is not at 60fps yet.

Yeah I'm really not seeing that, based on this gif the hair looks just like the same alpha blended planes that we had in previous generations. Like this:

And this is what i expect when I see "every single hair moves" and " true hair physics":

Yeah, I don't get that either. Face on the left looks completely different. I'm curious what is the logic behind changing his face so much. Reminds me of the uproar when they changed the Infamous character's face to someone completely different.

I think they are going for something a little more realistic. That last gif is ridiculous, who has short hair that soft?

Wow! I only saw the first 20 seconds but that's on another level to what I got from the stream. Looks awesome!

People mostly talking about the graphics of the demo. Am I the only one who was impressed with the animations and the gameplay? It was so fluid, for example that scene when he took the gun from the bad guy's hand. Everything was so realistic, Nathan had reactions or comment to anything, he is alive not just a character who you control. I really felt that I'm watching a movie scene because of that, ND really good at this, thats what i like in the last of us too, even the NPCs are talking and reacting to the world, not just puppets who are go from A to B.

It does look like alpha blended planes, I am curious what they are using.

And btw, wait for everyone to hate on your second giff. It looking good threatens them somehow.

So that is where the missing 30FPS went. I fully agree though - facial animation is way more important than playability. They may as well aim for dat magic 24FPS now, like they did with TLOU.

Do you do this in every Sony thread? It certainly appears so.

Any more stuff from the "Nathan Drake on PS4" panel? Did anyone film the entire presentation? Was it private or sth?
