Unpopular opinion: battlefield 5 was better than battlefield 6

I played battlefield 5 when it was offered as part of ps plus, a few years after release. The game had gotten a lot of updates by that point.

The gameplay, map design and feel was on point. The match duration was perfect as well. I still remember a few maps from that game.

Battlefield 6 on the other hand felt completely unforgettable. The only maps I remember are ones that have been remade from bf4( which was a far better game). The maps feel constricted. The gameplay feels too quick for a battlefield experience. Overall, the game is far more forgettable when compared to the likes of bf3, bf4, bf1 and bf5.

I Know it's an unpopular opinion and that bf6 was far more successful than bf5, but personally I enjoyed bf5 far more and feel it's overall a better game.

Battlefield V nailed the fundamentals and core pillars of Battlefield far better than BF6 has. That EA DICE stopped supporting it so quickly after launch, barely months after its first proper expansion, was damn near criminal.

The gameplay feels too quick for a battlefield experience

This is the fundamental problem, has been since BFV really.

I cannot stand the fucking CODization of Battlefield, the sprint and slide for the ADHD 14 year olds that these gimp streamers promote and the reason why EA pushed BF down that route.

It has ruined BF for me, when BFV came out i could already see it was going this way, i moved towards games like ARMA and Hell Let Loose and haven't gone back to BF, i can't now, the game feels like you running at 30 MPH, i can't stand it.

It'll be it's downfall, BF6 when annouced had some hope after 2042, but seeing how it's perfoming now, it's likley BF will be retired in the next couple of years.

How is that unpopular? BF5 is miles ahead of BF6 and it's low key one the best BF games once you include all the adjustments and dlcs. Best movement and gunplay in the series and a lot of great additions (construction mode, limited ammo for vehicles + stations to refill, great squad leader options etc.). Also, it's a me thing, but I prefer the ww2 setting over the modern/futuristic era.

Battlefield 5 was a solid entry especially after some patching. I really enjoyed the building aspect of it which was a nice addition.

Battlefield 6 has been pretty decent and is better at its point in its life cycle than any battlefield since BF4. BF 2042 took a year to get to a playable state and by the end of its life cycle was really a great game.

I think the BF6 maps are good, honestly don't understand the complaints other than the relatively slow content release. When I think of BF 6 I can easily visualize and remember most of the maps. Some people complain they are small but I never really loved the really big maps in battlefield anyway, you spend too much time traversing which is boring.

If you had said BF3 or 4 I would be on board but 5 is a terrible BF game. Most of the maps were all closed off with lanes like a CoD game. Real BF is being able to go to any spot on the map, any rooftop, etc... It's about constant chaos of war which 5 really lacked.

BF6 is close to greatness, it just needs more complex maps with A LOT more vehicles for max chaos. Boats need to be implemented. BF4 was pretty much perfect, so perfect in fact that they could sell you on the game just by making trailers with actual gameplay footage with the HUD and everything, no in engine BS trailers with canned animations that don't exist in game:

I've been playing both 2042 and V since EA decided to give them for "free" on the last sales. Aka their last form with all the DLC and patches...

And I'm having a blast with V. Great game.

It's strange to even tell that 2042 was the most recent one because I can't think of one single point where 2042 is ahead of V.
Not even technically.

At the same time it's easy to see how easily EA imploded V with the wrong marketing moves and (probably, because I wasn't playing at the time) a "broken" game at launch.

Every BF release ppl say this. When 5 released, ppl said 4 was better. When 4 released 3 was better and so on. It's nostalgia on drugs. They're all good and bad equally.

Not unpopular at all
Even BF2 was better and had more features than BF6

6 pretty much is trash after the honeymoon phase went by

Hmmm BF5 I praised for the gunplay and the experience was still solid but man it sure had more issues. DICE eventually increased ttk and ruined some of the gunplay experience with their second TTK adjustment cause they reverted the first one over everyone complaining and then eventually they gave the fans the middle finger and went through with it.

Yeah, anyways I always thought BF5 was okay. I do think BF6 is a better game overall but the least "battlefield" feeling of them all

You can blame folks like Timthetatman...dude literally on his BF6 stream literally said he wants it to be like COD...quite sure EA took a few notes from his insane take.

I could never get into V. I think it's my least played BF game outside of like Bad Company 1 (absolutely loved 2 but thought 1 seemed corny at the time so I didn't play it until after 2 and only SP). I do think it did some great things though like the movement.

This might be some autistic shit but I can't stand when historical games have modern customization like red dots and stuff. It just pulls me out of the experience. I felt like BF1 didn't penalize me much when refusing to use them but I felt (at the time) that I was at a disadvantage with V.

I think the initial reveal trailer for V also put me off. I'm not one to be like "hurr durr female protagonist bad" but the whole female soldier with a hook arm really put me off especially with how the devs talked about the game.

People were crazy high on Battlefield 6 when it came out, people championed it as the return of proper Battlefield. Weird how people have turned on it.

Yeah yeah everytime a new BF comes out, its always bad and previous titles are the goat. Tbh i enjoyed every single BF game, yes even hardline. They all have their pros and cons, but battlefield is battlefield

DICE built the perfect canvas for a WW2 game but instead of the Mona Lisa they decided to paint Caitlyn Jenner's dick on it.

That first trailer.
"If you don't like it don't buy it"
"I'll find myself on the right side of history"
Releasing the game despite it needing 6 more months for polish.

Whomever was involved in all these decisions should not be allowed to touch the development process of a videogame ever again.

Slightly unfair as 5 required patching before it got there, same with 2042 as well.

BF games chase a trend then everyone complains and they slowly turn it back into a BF game that people like.

4 was the last good BF game and the most visual impressive for the time ( i would say its impressive even by today standards )

I personally have enjoyed all the battlefield games except BF1 and BF 2142 which I boycotted because of the paid dynamic ad insertion which a lot of people did as well.

Personal favorites were BF 4, the Vietnam expansion of Bad company 2, BF 2 and I will say I really liked BF 2042 at the end, but the fact that it took 16 months to get it to a good state kind of makes me understand why it's not liked.

BF6 feels like a stitched together frakenstein designed to appeal to everyone and generate as much revenue as possible and the end result is a game that fails to actually hook anyone. There's a reason it lost 90% of its playerbase and the live service model has been such a half assed attempt at stopping the bleeding, you can jut tell very few people on the dev team even care anymore. And thats the main problem, this new generation of devs just don't know what the series strengths are or choose to just ignore them so they can make big shooter#3535 and appease papa EA.

I really liked Battlefield V.

I loved the online mode.

The story cutscenes could be better.

I always played as the Germans.

I was cracking up playing online... There was a glitch inside the plane! The Germans had their uniforms, but their there was nigg... 😂

V definitely captured vibes that 6 did not. I'm not sure how it was at launch, but later it was great. I definitely put more time into V than 6 as a whole, and I think it's primarily because it captured those BF vibes better. 6 looked great and performed great, but it often felt like a different series to me because somethings were missing in the overall "feel" of it all to me.
