First, their million-dollar-retainer lawyers don't know the difference between Superman and Spiderman, and now Xbox management can't even do basic math; how do you get a 30% GPU advantage from a 20% difference in TFLOP rating?
I knew Xbox heads were delusional, but I didn't know they were THIS delusional. No wonder their fans are the way they are.
He is probably the very source of the delusion. He and xbox fanboys share the same delusional
The only thing Phil has on Jim is PR skills. And it works. The amount of people that fall for the “good guy phil” persona is incredible to see even in here.As someone who spends a lot of time writing executive memorandums and crafting e-mails to C-Suite, yeah, I can tell you this isn't surprising.
I've always admonished people about the argument from authority logical fallacy.
There are people on gaming forums who know WAY more than the average gaming executive and in many cases many of the inline staff when it comes to the history of the gaming industry, strategy, and historic sales.
Just like you can have hobbyists put together emulators that are better than platform holders (given largely time).
Phil Spencer graduated with a BS in Technical and Scientific Communications. You might as well call that bachelors of science a bullshit artist. You look at his career and there is no reason he should actually be CEO other than the fact that he outlasted everyone else.
He was a general manager in the early days of MGS. Then he became General Manager of all of Xbox Europe... Can you name me the high level of success that Phil Spencer had in Europe? He very quickly rose through the ranks to eventually become head of Xbox. You compare his resume with Jim Ryan's and it is a joke.
It's all about software (Nintendo)I now understand exactly where all the delusion comes from.
It's a feature, not a bug.Admin at FTC:
Imagine how stupidl all these fanboys look now who tried argueing Sony isn't the competition and MS somehow bypassed them to bigger and better things. Or how Nintendo is a direct rival. Jesus Christ all MS care about is that playstation traditional home console market when it comes to it.On the spotlight try to be a nice guy full of shit. But behind the scene has a fanboy warrior mind where Sony is the enemy.
This was pretty obvious to anyone with a functional brain.Imagine how stupidl all these fanboys look now who tried argueing Sony isn't the competition and MS somehow bypassed them to bigger and better things. Or how Nintendo is a direct rival. Jesus Christ all MS care about is that playstation traditional home console market when it comes to it.
Hope Phil didn't notice the Spain sales thread then.
What was it? 10:1?
Dude is making unreal money and is basically set for life. His worst enemy is a bunch of forum warriors.Even the MS board of directors was telling him not to get cocky and he still couldn’t help himself lol. How’s that working out for you Phil.
Phil,I would pay to see Satya's response to this email.
We need a real competitor, not someone who blows smoke and would rather acquire than make it happen. It's why SEGA leaving hardware was so hard for a lot of folks. They actually did compete with their own shit!I mean.. having the ingredients for a winning plan and turning those ingredients into a winning plan are two separate things
Let's hope he got it right so that we have strong competition in the industry and great games from ALL sides
Not necessarily - it can also be the case of them not having a good alternative atm.Bottom line is if he was fucking up bad enough, they would ask for his resignation; which they haven’t.
Dude is acting like he's playing with monopoly money. Pun intended.I'm sorry but when the Board of Directors tells you not to be cocky, then you laugh at a console that outsells yours 10:1, you need to be shown the door, immediately!
And he used to be a programmer which suggests he has some sort of degree in computer science. Imagine that.So he really was dumb enough to think a GPU is all about the FLOPs lol
Even more than that apparently, he also added 12% to the 18% delusion. So he really was dumb enough to think a GPU is all about the FLOPs lol
Whats sad here is no company will ever trust using email to communicate ever again.
That and the number of posters (and i use that term lightly, since many are reeally just trolling) in this thread trolling who've never owned an xbox but are industry experts who are smarter than everyone is staggering.
As to what Phil said, it's not that shocking that he thought they had the better hardware, it didn't seem at that point that the ps5 would keep up.
Of course anyone with any sort of reasonable response will just get trolled with more "witty" anti xbox gifs.
It's a cycle and Spencer is a suit disguised as a gamer and good guy.
That's silly. Yes they will. Courts subpoena email and other types of communications all the time in these cases. If a company suddenly decides to exclusively use Slack to communicate (or Teams in the case of Microsoft), the court will subpoena their slack information - although that is trickier.Whats sad here is no company will ever trust using email to communicate ever again.
Booty done it.The age of Spencer is over, the time of Booty has come!

There is an entire YouTube market making tons of money from Playstation delusion. I don't think Microsoft delusion is quite as lucrative. He and xbox fanboys share the same delusional

The much smarter play would have been to not release a gimped console like the Series S.I think Sony made a much smarter decision going in. A much smaller chip with a faster gpu frontend + the [wildly misunderstood] continuous boost clock scheme. Paired with stronger lower level dev tools, PS5 pretty much matches the XSX give or take a few % in certain areas depending on the application.
MS chased teraflops and I think it's put them in a worse situation. I wouldn't be surprised if the decision not to do a proper mid gen refresh was at least somewhat informed by the difficulty of scaling up their chip.
With the PS5 hardware I get the feeling that pretty much every penny I spend on the console is paying for actual, effective, performance. They did everything they could to get that box as efficient as possible for the cost. With the XSX hardware I get the feeling that a significant chunk of the cost is just going to MS being able to say "we have 2 more TF"; despite the fact that relative to the PS5, those 2TF are effectively useless. And that's before we get to the XSS...
I think I posted this one before, but I think this would have been the smarter play (clicky for biggy):
oh my gaaaawwwwd
Satya doesn’t give a flying fuck
