Uplay unavailable on AC4 for PS4 for three weeks and nobody is talking about it

I've had my PS4 since last Friday (UK), and have been unable to access Uplay on Assassin's Creed IV the entire time.

Everytime I try to connect I get this message:

"Sorry the Ubisoft Server is not Available at this time".

I'm not sure if this is occuring on other platforms as I only have AC4 on PS4. Before anyone says "lol uplay y wud u even want to use that", the fleet management system (the primary system of making money in the game) requires you to be signed into Uplay. This means that a core system of the game is missing until Ubisoft get their shit sorted out.

I also have lots of content (outfits, weapons and ship accessories, etc.) which I don't have access to until the Uplay servers are working.

According to people in the AC4 OT, this has been going on since the PS4 launched in NA three weeks ago.

I have checked Ubisoft's forums and a few people have mentioned the issue, but Ubisoft haven't given any formal acknowledgement of the issue and therefore no timeframe for when it will be sorted.

This is one of the reasons why we were so adverse to the recent DRM scandals, if servers aren't working, core parts of games are missing or don't work properly and we are at the mercy of the developers/publishers as to when they get their issues sorted out.

Thoughts?
 
It's been working fine for me the whole time, just got rank 29003 or something last night. I'm in the US, and bought digital, if that matters.
 
For ACIV you just download the file that you find if you click on "buy passport", it gives you it for free, and it works after that.. Worked all last week here.. :}
 
Just tried it, working fine. Was on Friday too.

Could be your router/firewall op?

Another question - are redeem codes working if you do them from the ingame menu?
 
Uplay can die in a fire.

I'm actually more angry and Microsoft and Sony for bowing to this bullshit publishers want to force into their games. It's ridiculous and unnecessary.
 
What a clustefuck, sorry to hear about that. Devs really need to learn that if they absolutely must restrict some functionality to online only, make sure it works. Otherwise you're selling people incomplete products.
 
No one's gonna talk about a problem only you are having, man.

I'm sorry you're having trouble, but I don't see why you thought this was a widespread issue.

This. UPlay didn't work for me at first until I "bought" the free online pass. Once you do that, it works.
 
One of the most useless things. The rewards are lame as hell. Still hate them forcing us to get achievements on this on Steam.
 
Been working fine for me too, I grabbed all 4 bonus items for ac 4 during my play through and never had an error.

Also the AC initiates stuff has been linking with the ps4 the past week too now, for some extra goodies & content.
 
I dont knlw how true this is, but I have seen evidence that whats causing the issue for many people is the transfering of your PS3 account to the PS4, and its causing issues with Uplay.

Im having the same problem, but a friend of mine who made a brand new account when he bought a PS4 is not having the issue. It sucks that major portions of the game are locked behind services like Uplay especially because of situations like this.

Its even more bullshit that Ubisoft have not said a single thing about it
 
Looking at the title of the thread, 3 weeks and nobody is talking about it because it has been working for more than 3 weeks on the PS4.
 
This is a bit off topic but I really, really, really hate how everyone wants you to create a profile on some service before you play their games now. Battlefield and origin, Assassins creed and Uplay. And now 2K and whatever their service is called for NBA2k14. Shits ridiculous.
 
I've been using the fleet management thing constantly since I unlocked it in the game. The real shitty thing is having to wait 10+ hours for a ship to return from a mission once you really start getting pretty far into it.
 
Yep working great for me since us launch. You do need the free online pass for uplay to work though maybe that is the problem.
 
Yeah, working fine here according to my friend at work who has this. Throw your PS4 into your routers DMZ and try again?

The last Kenway Fleet missions take upward of 36 hours to complete.
 
works fine here and I redeemed some codes as well. only thing I can't do in the game right now is redeem the 2nd code with kenway's legacy and 2 extra missions.
 
yeah this is totally wrong.. I don't have a ton of time into the game, but aside from literally launch day I haven't had a problem with uplay...

one thing I will say is it did have me sign into uplay and everything was just fine... but then the second time I player (literally the second time) it yelled at me saying I needed to enter my passport. instead of entering my code I just "bought" the free passport from PSN.. and yeah, it works fine every time since. so maybe try buying the uplay passport first and see if that fixes it. It didn't ask me about the passport the first time I played.
 
+ 1 working perfectly since launch.

I've used the iPad app to access the fleet missions as well. Works great. It's a nifty feature.
 
I keep wanting to just bypass it and hit o but then it says that stuff won't count or something. Waiting for it to time out is ridiculous. That said, I am loving AC4. I put so much time into just collecting everything and doing naval battles.
