Q: is there any chance he'll run as a third party? Because I'm scared to death he'd split the democratic vote.

Otherwise I'm all for supporting him. Push Hillary to the left as much as possible, and it prepares her for the general election. Because contrary to popular believe, I don't think Hillary makes for good and genuine public appearances. Some primary practice would do her good.

he probably wouldn't have bothered with the dem primary at all if he planned on running independent

there's narrative about so and so candidate dividing the electorate almost every election but it never really happens. or not enough for it to matter. i'm pretty sure he'll endorse hillary before or during the convention anyway

If you want life to be the same with all the injustices we have now in the world, vote Hillary. If you want some progress on many issues, vote Bernie.

Dude ask him would he apologize for slavery, he goes into politico "See what had happen was"

https://soundcloud.com/joemadisonth...ernie-sanders-responds-to-apology-for-slavery

This comment eliminates a 50 year record of supporting civil rights, criminal justice reform, voter rights, worker rights, minimum wage increases, jobs programs, improved education programs, etc? It not only eliminates the record, it compels you to support someone who has a questionable record on most of those issues?

I'm not a Sanders guy (although I will vote for him in the primary) but come on...

Ahh yes this fuck shit about slavery. Where (in the quote you linked) he said we as a nation need to apologize. Awful awful stuff I know. How can you support someone who says that?

He answered the question pretty damn well, maybe you should listen to exactly what he actually said instead of trying to find racist bullshit where there is none.

Didn't say he was racist just, he took a whole minute to go around the town for a simple yes or no question. That spoke volumes to me.

Gore and Nader...?

Didn't that have insane repercutions? Or wouldn't Naders vote have made for a Gore win?

He immediately said that nobody alive today is responsible for slavery and then went on to say that the entire country needs to apologize for it, he answered perfectly and professionally.

The butterfly ballot was more responsible than Nader for Gore "losing." Think Pat Buchanan got like 50,000 votes in the hood or something. Shit is wack and they should have revoted with proper voting mechanisms.

Do you have a problem with every political answer from every politician ever? Cause that is all they do. Take a yes or no question, extrapolate for 5 minutes, and then come back to what he actually said which was yes, slavery does need to be apologized for. Pretty damning if you ask me.

Also I didn't say or imply you thought he was racist.

Because he wanted to go further than just "yes" or "no" and explain his position, like a politician should do? Your line of thinking is bizarre.

And for those wondering, he already stated that he would never act as an spoiler if he doesn't get the nom.

i think the general consensus is gore would've lost the electoral college either way. i don't think this election will be anywhere near as close as 2000 anyway, but who knows

I don't think he was trying to dodge the question if that's what you mean. It sounds more like he wanted to expand a bit on how he felt about it and gave a slightly more nuanced response.

I'm just a pessimistic person I guess, but although I'm clearly a supporter of Clinton in this election, the way she is portrayed as the de facto winner makes me uneasy. She isn't very spontaneous, she isn't very likable, and the general public is prone to little 'scandals' and 'narratives'. It's only when we play the math game and I'm shown how difficult it would be for a republican nominee to get the necessary EV's that I calm down a bit. Because purely based on Clinton's qualities, it's her election to lose, and I fear she's capable to do so.

Anyway, perhaps this is too off-topic. Let Bernie color this election as much as possible, let Clinton win in the end, and I'll be happy.

I'm sorry... I thought you guys were being sarcastic at first? I mean why was the question even asked in the first place? Seems a tad bit ridiculous and Bernie didn't say anything wrong.

Bernie has crossover appeal. He will pull in Libertarians and Conservatives. It's already happening.

As for you, if you want to vote Hillary. Vote Hillary. Let's keep this machine trudging along at a snails pace. I mean as bad as things are in economics, climate, justice...we as a society have survived this far, right? Let's see how long we can continue to keep going on this course before all hell breaks loose. Kind of intriguing, no? Who needs Zombie-apocalypses when you can have economic, climate and justice apocalypses all at the same time. Grab your shotgun!

Clinton +45

Great. Call me when he's within at 25 points, which is still him being blown out but hey at least then we could try to entertain delusion.

Hillary has about 50 landmines waiting to explode on her at any second, Benghazi, Emails, Clinton Foundation, list of a bunch of policy failures from the past and her "plan" for the future. If you want to hurt down-ticket races...please, go ahead and nominate Hillary. People do not like her, nor do they trust her. If she is the nominee it will be another vote for the lesser of two evils. I think a lot of people are sick of doing that and will probably just tune out of this election if that's the case.

I like this guy. I'm 'okay' with Hillary, but she seems like a statue. Bernie seems much more passionate and logical to me.

I don't see how this should sway your vote, though. I don't believe Clinton has made comments in any way more progressive than that. In fact, a lot of her statements are even more suspect.

But more importantly, Bernie Sanders will help minorities more than Clinton will. His hesitation may "speak volumes", but I think that his voting record is much more important. In his twenty-five years in congress, he has defended affirmative action, supported police and prison reform, fought to end the war on drugs, voted to give 84 billion dollars to HBCUs, tried to reduce tuition to all state universities, professed his love for a Canadian-style health care system, and has devoted most of his legislative career defending working-class Americans from being abused and neglected by Republicans and congress.

When Hillary Clinton was campaigning for Barry Goldwater, Bernie Sanders was participating in the Civil Rights Movement. Obviously, who you vote for is your choice, but I am admittedly surprised that you're sticking with Clinton.

Sanders has made it clear that electing just him in office, or any candidate for that matter, will not produce the change we need. We need a social upheaval and that momentum would be required. In every talk he's given, he has made that point.

The only upheaval you're going to get from Hillary is lip service and a waving hand towards the banks, which are giving her donations.

big money always goes to the likely winner. in bizarro world where bernie is 50 points ahead banks, big oil, ect would be pouring money into his campaign

No, it wouldn't. Because he's against big money. His entire campaign has been designed as a "fuck you" to our disgusting system. He is trying to run with the interests of people, not the interests of our oligarchs.

He's the only candidate running not having a Super PAC. It'll be interesting to see who wins: the people and what they want, or what money wants. We're already living in the latter, and it's a disaster. I wonder if this next election will have us fully eclipse into an oligarchy without remorse.

I mean, I doubt Hillary did too much campaigning for Barry Goldwater. She probably had too much homework, given that in 1964 she was 17 years old.

Huh, perhaps some would in order to "persuade" him, but generally speaking I sincerely doubt it. They'd pool and pour all their money together to another candidate that actually is open to their ideas and interests. Sanders simply doesn't seem a good fit for big (unethical) business. They stand for everything he's against.
