The developers of Slain are making a new game, announced for 2018 on PC/consoles. Should be cool! Slain was rough at release, but the "re-release" fixed just about every issue and the game is pretty good now. Hopefully the devs learned from this mistake and will take the time necessary to polish Valfaris as much as needed before release.

Glad to see that glorious pixel art style again. Those artists are seriously talented.

Dev announcement:
Hi guys! We have been quiet for a while preparing for this announcement.

Steel Mantis (Andrew Gilmour and Thomas Jenns - the team behind Slain:Back From Hell) are excited to announce Valfaris - A heavy metal space saga coming to PC and console in 2018.

Set in a far corner of space, Valfaris is a heavy metal infused 2D action-platformer and the next game from the team behind Unity Awards finalist, Slain: Back From Hell. Brutal combat. Deadly enemies. Stunning pixel art. Savage soundtrack. Get ready to rip the galaxy a new wormhole.

I love the look and still need to play Slain but I know it got a really well received overhaul after the initial criticisms. Always a good sign and bodes well for this game. More gifs!

There's going to be plenty of stuff to blasterize, flamerate, and explodicute in Valfaris. So it only makes sense that Therion will have an array of awesome killamajig weaponry at his disposal to ensure he'll be able to slaughter and liquidize as messily and funly as possible.

Here's a sneaky work-in-progress looksee at two of Therion's tools for dishing out MAXIMUM GUNISHMENT!!!

We'll be sure to share more of Valfaris' mighty murder-gadgets with you soon.

As a fan of Lovecraftian fiction I think the tendril gun is my favourite new firearm I've seen this year :D

Game looks great, will follow with interest. When you say 'PC/console' does that include Switch? No matter if not, just curious.

Will be aiming for all platforms launching on same day, of course being a small time its not always that easy but this is what we are shooting for,

Everyone's mostly friendly - but there's the occasional disagreement over tastes in metal :D

While slain looked great it wasnt the best, granted I bought it on pc and vita and enjoyed it. The combat just felt kinda shallow.

This however seems legit as hell.

Slain was leaning slightly too much towards the style end of the style vs. substance spectrum.

I still think this looks great as I had said earlier in this thread, but I'm hoping for more depth gameplay wise compared to Slain.
