Valve adds Sprays back to CS:GO, with a catch...

This is pretty vile. I'm resigned to our microtransaction-riddled future, but this goes a bit beyond the typical monetization of customization.

I'm waiting for a Overwatch ad showing off infinite sprays.

"For only $39.99, you can get up to 100 okay 50, that's fifty non-dupes of sprays instead of the skin, emote or highlight reel intro that you actually wanted, but hey you can use them as much as you want!"

Sounds like the river vials from TI6 to me.

In the entire time they were active, I never saw one used, ever.

- Limited use item
- Only lasted 15 minutes
- Had an expiration date
- You have to use an item slot and physically walk to the river to use it

Seriously, why even bother adding the feature to paint rivers at all with all those dumb restrictions! When having it work like literally every other map item in the game would have made them so much better as items and a better value.

For what it's worth, sprays haven't been a thing in CSGO. This is probably more a case of just not thinking of a way to implement them (sans the porn) back in until they saw Overwatch do it.

Doesn't excuse the consumable bit, though.

They don't care enough about it to even bother lol.

Hey, they still care about TF2. Valve finally noticed that pl_swiftwater was a good map. It only took them like seven years.

I can understand not allowing custom graffiti (Although they should for private matches).

I can even understand monetizing it.

But limited uses? Now that's just going above and beyond in greed.

If I could use any picture under the same terms as avatar images on Steam, then I would consider this a good thing.

But no. It just isn't. Reticules are next for sure.

Where are these people? That hasn't been the case for ages when concerning these microtransactions. Only good thing is that CSs still exists!

I don't think there's a company more out of touch with their fans then Valve. It's almost like they are actively trying to spite CS fans.

Yeah, I never understand the consumables. And they know full well people loved expressing stupidity through custom sprays.

They've been one of the worst companies for a while now.

People say Ubisoft and EA are bad? That to me has been Valve instead.

People have been asking for these ever since they've were removed, which was when CSGO shipped without them. But what they seem to forget is that sprays can be used to bait players in competitive play, since any change to a surface fucks with map memorization. Hell, back in older CS games, people made sprays that were fake 2D versions of in-game character models so it would look exactly like a real player peeking their head over something.

It's a bad idea in pretty much everything but casual MM modes. Don't even get me started on the monetization aspect of limited uses.
