I'm keeping my expectations in check after some latest duds like Ace Combat 7 and to a lesser extent NieR Automata. Vampire the Masquerade is one of my all time favorite RPGs and I played through it many times but I have my doubts that the sequel will be just as good. The reason why the 1st one worked so well was because of: it was a new and fresh theme; it has astonishingly good writing; so many different factions to choose from at the start which have major differences in the way you play, not just stat differences but the entire game is vastly different whether you pick Nosferatu, Malkavian or Toreador. I'm just not sure they can capture the same spirit of wonder and excitement along with very solid writing and player choices that make an impact.

Do we know whether some of the Troika people are working on this? Or is it a completely new team? (I am excited as hell regardless, though)
I don't know if anyone from the old Troika has ended up to what ever team under Paradox is working on this, but two out of the three Troika founders (Cain and Boyarsky) are at Obsidian and the third one (Anderson) is at Turtle Rock.

I'm not going to pre-order because that's a very silly thing to do, but you can bet your butt I'm going to get the GOG version as long they don't end up screwing this thing up.

I mean the first game shat on the Bush administration explicitly and featured tons of degeneracy includong rampant drug use, pornography, and prostitution. Its not exactly goin after the sunday church crowd lol its supposed to show seedy nightlife. Leave your morals at the main menu.
It's the World of Darkness, it's a pretty degenerate and fucked up place.

Lots to like, but gender pronouns... Eugh. That'll be due to RPS 'writer' Cara Ellison I suspect. The SJW infiltration is complete.
Ellison and Mitsodas wife went full SJW during Gamergate (after actually being pretty cool to talk to when she was at Obsidian)

Almost none outside Mitsoda. The lead designer was on Aliens at Obsidian for random trivia but thats about it.

Canada Eh
I think you don't understand what I'm saying is an implication.

Why does it just say "Xbox" and not "Xbox One"?
Doesn't it always say that?

Edit: Hmm, I looked up RDR2 and it said Xbox One so maybe you're on to something. Going to look up some more.

Edit: MK11 also says Xbox One. That's a pretty interesting catch.

*Boom sticks!!!*

Very pleased at this, but it's a little too early in the year for me to think about pre-ordering at this juncture. Wishlisted though.

No, games always say "Xbox One" at the bottom. Could Microsoft be pushing out their next system sooner than we all thought and they simply put an agnostic "Xbox" at the bottom because it applies to a current and unnamed system?

It just occurred to me, will multiple pronouns have any major impact on VO? Can we expect full VO with 4, 5 or more pronouns or are they just saying that you can use he/she regardless of gender?

Cara Ellison, one of the worst writers in gaming is on board. Hard pass.

Zoe Quinn doing Solar Ash and now this. Not a great week if you don't like narratives ruined.

Who cares about the gender pronouns stuff

the game is almost entirely in 1st person.

Fucking dropped ... just like cyberpunk. Robust character creator only to be scene in cutscenes etc lame

I don't know who Cara Ellison is, what has she done and should I be worried?

so the only one person who worked on Vampire the Masquerade is working on Vampire 2 , well i need to see more about this before getting excited , as far as i am concerned this is a Vampire RPG with Bloodlines slapped on the front and wont have the soul that the original had , installed by the great and underrated Troika Games ( Tim Cain fucking legend )

"Apparently she has reduced defensive capacity compared to the others, which is not surprising because they have virtually put a flesh coloured mark on her tits reading GIANT ANTS: BUKKAKE ACID HERE." Not gonna lie, that is genuinely funny.
Yes, hilarious the way she barely played the game and gave it a low score to score cheap edge points, I'm sure the localisation staff and publisher were delighted.

Alright, well, I'm not abandoning all hope. Hopefully she's just there to give female players some hypersexualiced males to have fun with just like world of darkness is filled with hypersexualiced women. I'm fine with that as long the game doesn't try to shove some angry feminist ideology down my throat.

Well Tim only really did a bit of programming work on Bloodlines. That said it also misses Leonard Boyarsky and Jason Anderson who were both the top dogs on Bloodlines as Project and Creative Director respectivly.

your mind
Jesus Christ, you would think “what incompetent can we hire to seriously fuck this up” would be low on the list of priorities, but apparently not.

No lessons were learnt from Mass Effect Andromeda, I see.

Bro, I don't know if you know me but I am probably the biggest fan of EDF here, I know the review was trash and it showed massive lack of understanding about the game but I can appreciate some parts of it. At least she gave it a 5 unlike this shit(it is a cached version of Jim Sterling's review in plain text form, I don't know why it doesn't work normally).

This raises a lot of question though since it's a direct sequel to Bloodlines, wasn't the world supposed to have ended soon after that game and White Wolf started a "New World of Darkness" brand new continuity? Does Bloodlines jettison all that and focus on the original World of Darkness continuity?

My dream is that we encounter some steampunk stuff from the Sons of Ether from Mage, that'd be cool.

It did have that massive tidal wave in the video, but that could have just been a metaphorical scene.

Im a massive EDF fan so i'd have a claim on being the biggest fan here too, I was furious at the time, and i looked into her work after. What annoys me in this particular moment is the hypocrisy, she will be raging if any reviewers dont give the game / her part of it a full and fair in depth critique, yet she's allowed to shit out some ill researched SJW joke piece regarding other people's work. That EDF review of hers could have been done after 5 minutes of youtube footage, zero actual gameplay experience was needed. The game was used as a platform for her lousy schtick.

tldr, another crap journo now turned creator, who will demand to be taken seriously after years of unprofessional conduct.

Also, can't really understand why people are upset over the gender pronouns thing, if ever there was a context in which that sort of thing would make sense it's Vampire The Masquerade.
I was just going to say, this world of all worlds it is more than fitting.

Yeah Cara Ellision is a huge bummer. But I still trust in Avelone in the end.

Otherwise I am excited as long i does not go SJW

It was dumb when it was in that Battletech game from last year, but It's very true to the spirit of Vampire The Masquerade.

What wouldn't be true to the spirit of Vampire The Masquerade though is a lack of sexual content, this is my main concern, hopefully this will be one game SJWs will allow to be very sexual, the large breasted woman seen in the trailer seems to point to it being on the right path.

By the way, between Battletech, Bloodlines 2 and Cyberpunk 2077, does it seems like tabletop/pen and paper games are having a real renaissance in video games? As someone who's never experienced that type of gaming but has always been fascinated by it I love that.

Now all we need is a new Crimson Skies game.

You haven't posted in the EDF 5 OT once, but that can be forgiven. I hope you will make amends in the Iron Rain OT. Regardless, join my PS4 international community for Iron Iron, it is currently the only one besides a Japanese one.

White Wold games have always been political. Anyone complaining about the political SJW stuff in Bloodlines 2 haven't played their other games.

Get fucked, cunt.

EviLore EviLore feel free to ban me for this if necessary. Worth it to me to make the point.
Well you should be banned or at least warned, "get fucked, cunt" is a personal attack which I would assume is against this sites TOS,

I hope more tabletop games make it over, especially some of the horror ones. I never really dived too heavy into them, but I've seen them played with Spotify playlist music designed for them to add ambience in the background which was cool.

I remember my uncle was huge into BattleTech. Had tons of books, tons of kits, I remember going to the Hobby Shops with him getting new pewter figures where he would paint up. He always wanted to sit down me and teach me one day but never had that time. He did get me into the MechWarrior games on the PC in the mid-90s on however.

A quote from an article by vg247

It’s not just politics where Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 takes a progressive approach. The character creator, which players get to use twice – once at the start to define your human aspects and then a second time later in the game to flesh out your vampire – goes way beyond basic male and female models. Body type, gender pronouns, employment history and fashion can all be toyed with for a very modular build.
If the game is good, I can see past that. But usually, when devs "waste" time and therefore money on such features, it means other - more important aspects of the game - will get less love and care. We'll see, definitely appreciate the announcment, the first one is supposed to be a damn fine game. Never had the chance to play it though.

Hype was nice ... for the 5 minutes it lasted ... I don't expect anything from this game. I just wonder if they'll include "ORANGE MAN BAD!" and "Alt-Right Werewolves"

I did in the one on the other forum before I realised what a cucknest it was, and I couldnt find an active one here. I'm currently taking a break from 5 after some afk farming fun, but im quite ready for Iron Rain.

PS, Boo urns to Ellison. May she be roasted alive by the critics she once called friends. Let them turn on her, as is the way with hard leftists.

Honestly a bit skeptical. Brian Mitsoda hasn't really rocked the world since and the *politics* answer doesn't really inspire confidence in me.
His Dead State game was actually pretty good, despite low production values.

Check out my OT for 5 at least. I put a fuck ton of work into it :)
