PS4 Pro in Prioritize Screen Resolution Mode, PS5 with Ray Tracing On and PS5 with Ray Tracing Off all render at a resolution of 3840x2160 using what appears to be Checkerboard Rendering.
There's noticeable ghosting on PS4 Pro that isn't present to the same extent on the other consoles.
PS4 Pro in Prioritize Frame Rate Mode renders at a native resolution of 1920x1080.
PS4 renders at a native resolution of 1600x900.

How is mean frame rate calculated? It seems strange that SE would list 45fps as the benchmark if the mean frame rate is 59.53 - or is that the mean frme rate for the 7 minutes sample in the youtube video?

The demo has tons of cutscenes which looks like it flatters the RT stats a bit as it holds 60fps ok there but that combat section wouldn't be fun constantly jumping to 33.3ms. Would be fine for me with with VRR though.

No its not gimping the framerate, this data shows it's identical (save for half a frame) with RT on or off on PS5.
Watch the video, during combat it gets some good dips in framerate. And dont see any graphical diference to justify it.

Most useless RT ever. I cant even notice any graphical difference between PS5 version with RT on and off. Its just eating framerate with RT on.
Seriously, looking at the video I couldn’t find any difference between the two. Even the scene with the fire which should benefit from RT a lot.

the big issue the game has is the FOV. no setting to increase it and the FOV is about 70° at the moment, which is fucking god awful

edit: oh look all the 0iq people came out again with the dusk golem stuff... well that was to be expected.

the game only uses RT for reflections. if you don't have any reflective surfaces you won't see it. which is maybe why the framerate is so high in this demo. there's barely any surface that makes use of it.

Oh ok I didn’t know that, makes sense. It’s a shame as I think a game like RE would benefit a lot from RT lighting.

Checkerboard rendering is shitty. If you aren't going to use TAAU for the consoles then just use a true 16:9 resolution like 1800p. There are plenty to pick from.

If they have to downgrade the resolution again than at least leave us a choice to keep it up if we want to, unlike they did with re 3 on xbox one x

So its not native 4k? I just played through it and gat damnnnn I thought it looked impressive in places. I guess raytracing is on as standard as I had the odd hiccup but it wasn't that noticeable. Will be perfect on vrr. Hopefully the xbox has the same performance.

It is using ray tracing for global illumination as well.
I made these gifs earlier today.
It's really evident how with ray tracing on details that are totally in the dark without ray tracing pop out (see behind the couch/sofa):







Btw ray tracing performance is really impressive, the fluctuations from 60fps are so small that usually developers don't even bother not calling that 60 fps mode.

Maybe I am too old, but I could not really see any benefit to the game's image quality with RT on.
Can't see a difference from quick look, could be something to do with reflections.
The only part that stood out to me was the girls face in this part and a bit darker with RT on. I didn't look too carefully though, there's probably more than that.

I tell you one thing though, and this is not what I expected. The dualsense triggers are really not great. I adored astro bot but my god outside of that the experience has been pretty shit for me. I just don't like it at all in this game and I didn't like it in demons souls or miles morales. I'm sure miles morales broke my controller. I need to just turn the shit off.

Thank you for the comparison shot. So, I assumed that when I first met the girl in the cabin (the one behind the girl in the shot) that RT was on. However, I thought if this is RT it's not that impressive. Maybe my expectations were much higher. Regardless, for the performance it takes the PS5 to create this lighting difference, I am not interested in RT right now.

And the guys hair, and his scarf, and his face, and her neck, and her shoulder, and the snow, and the building beneath the overhang. I understand some people just can’t spot differences, but they are there and it’s worth playing in RT because it seems there’s almost no downside to it.

We'll have to wait until either the other part of the demo or the full game. Not a lot of objects in place to take advantage of RT.

I just wanna see the XSEX version and see if the game looks like ass there too.
I'm not sure what xsex version could change...even if native 4k the graphic is that ... though knowing the Capcom offer on Xbox console I won't hold my breath to possible improvement...
