I think a year in to this gen, they should at least package this up with the ps5 sdk. That should be the bare minimum.

They are missing out on all the rdna IPC gains. That’s 25% right there. Then there are the io enhancements that let the ps5 truly shine.

This is a brand new release. Even older games old doom, control and Metro got PS5 SKUs years after release. This is one of the few cross gen releases to not get a next gen SKU after launch. The only other game I can think of is Cyberpunk, and its console ports were the definition of lazy.
There are more: Mass effect trilogy, biomutant, nier replicant ..im sure I'm forgetting others

People always get triggered whenever the word "lazy" is used to describe certain developer efforts, but what other word is there for when devs don't meet the standard minimum of the rest of industry?
There's a whole freaking dictionary of words. Minimal effort, little effort, minor effort, nominal effort, least effort, slight effort. I somehow doubt these developers are lazy. How do some people get off calling others working hard lazy?

You just listed a bunch of synonyms for lazy, lol. That's my point. Its "low(er) effort than what other devs have been doing" aka "lazy compared to those devs that go through the effort of making a ps5 native version".

It's just another adjective but you guys always get bent out of shape over it. I don't think anyone is saying that every developer from such and such studio is themselves lazy! It's more of an indictment on the studio as a whole for this particular release.

I'll say it about Cyberpunk for instance for not having a next gen version. Obviously we all know it's not the I dividual devs fault and the lack of a ps5/x version is due to a myriad of factors, mostly bad decision making by the higher ups.

Minimal, minimum, nominal, least, slight are not synonyms for lazy, look in any thesaurus. I also disagree with using those words to describe the game but they are much better than calling the developers lazy.

la·zy
/ˈlāzē/
adjective: lazy;
1. unwilling to work or use energy.

Similar:
idle, indolent, slothful

Again, there is nothing lazy about the port. Lots of work was put into upgrading the game. Not using the "current-gen API" does not mean no effort was put into the port. It's like saying a developer is lazy because they use DX11 instead of DX12. Lots of care was put into making sure the game ran at 60fps.
