I know there's a couple of Famicom Akira games, and that pinball game on PS2.

I had heard about THQ's Akira game existing semi-recently, but I hadn't seen video of it until now. And it looks like... a 90's THQ game.

It's interesting if nothing else. With anime on VHS becoming a big deal in the West at that time, I always wondered what game companies would have tried to strike that hot iron. I remember the PS1 Ghost In The Shell game being pretty good.

I still wonder why there wasn't an attempt to do a Ninja Scroll fighting game.

I would have liked to play that; love when stuff like this leaks. Not sure how exactly a Akira game would work like though.. I think a prequel playing as Kaneda living the gang life might work with the endgame being the movie.

This could have been from the Genesis game. It was actually completely different, but previews from the time labeled it SNES erroneously.

An open world cell shaded NEO Tokyo based off the AKIRA manga would be incredible. Playable Tetsou and Kanada.

I remember reading about this and seeing a screen in EGM or something back in the day. Kinda neat to see even a small bit of it in (glitchy) action.


I always wanted someone to make an AKIRA motorcycle racing game (ala Road Rash).

Choose a side (Kaneda's crew, the Clowns, the police) and just battle-race through NeoTokyo. Make it cel-chaded with Katsuhiro Otomo supervising.
