It's not.

I just don't feel like making fun of a gay dude should be met with "OMG HE'S HOMOPHOBIC".

Come on, "Socialism is for figs" is basically a bit cheeky and immature.

Calling a dude a "lispy queer" on a comedy talk show is hardly a big deal.

Truth is I will call out homophobia when I see it but in my mind that's outright hate or oppression or fuckin mindless abuse based on sexuality.

This isn't that.
Conversely, whipping out your identity-politic card isn't a shield against valid criticism.

Well, that is something I would prefer to avoid. Like I said, I have a few gay friends and I couldn't imagine listening to this in their presence.

I think everything is fair game when it comes to jokes, it’s up to the comedian to use that material to create a joke that actually works. “Socialism is for fags” is just lazy and lame though. If you were out in public with some friends and one of them was wearing that shirt wouldn’t you be embarrassed to be associated with them?

1) As detailed already, that's not what the shirt says. Arguing that it says something that it explicitly does not say is wilful rejection of reality.
2) I value friendship on a level that transcends apparel.

Yes. Yes, it's lame. It's Steven Crowder FFS. The guy is so tame and only "edgy" in that kind of "good Christian boy sneakily sipping a beer and getting a sly peck on the cheek from a girl at a 17th birthday party" way.

Fuckin hell, the dude BLEEPS OUT swear words on his channel. He's on the upper limit of PG-13 at best.

Yeah, I wouldn't be seen dead in one of those t-shirts and I'd be embarrassed if my buddy showed up wearing one.
It's lame. It's almost "dad jokes" level lame. It's not even South Park or Family Guy levels of edge.

Buuuuuuut that's why the reaction here from YouTube and Vox and so on is just WAY the fuck out of proportion.

The way they go on you'd think Crowder was some legitimate threat to society at large.
It just isn't true.

I can't help but feel that what we are really watching here is bitter little people, jealous of his popularity, trying to brigade him off the internet.
Cos it's the only thing that makes sense.

This is Vox's own description of their work.
"We live in a world of too much information and too little context. Too much noise and too little insight. And so Vox's journalists candidly shepherd audiences through politics and policy, business and pop culture, food, science, and everything else that matters."

There's nothing about this whole shitshow that is even remotely in line with that.

Well, it's generally not acceptable to speak to someone's race, religion or sexuality. Society and its rules. I know. But when you do that sort of thing, it just makes you look ignorant. Best to stick to viewpoints.

Derogatory statements towards white males because they are white males is commonplace on twitter, YT, etc. Do you think they will be policed like Crowder was? Of course not. Recognition of hate and enforcement of rules is always selective and biased in these situations. It certainly doesn't apply to bigger corporate media or big money backed places like Vox. (Which is just a brainwashing site that is full of hate for others.)

Kentucky, it’s not as bad as Australia
I did not. I specifically said race, religion and sexuality are off limits. Crowder is a mental midget and that's who he caters to.
Who died and made you king of the jokes?
Comedy is about pushing boundaries and putting a toe across the line, and even sometimes charging headlong across the line.

This oppression olympics bullshit is making us into gigantic pussies. The Chappelle videos that evilore posted are good examples of how we used to be able to stomach jokes in good faith.
Just laugh and have a good time. Quit being such an offended bitch.
This applies to everyone.

If Carlos Maza had control over his emotions, then all of this could have been avoided.

But it seems like that is an insurmountable task when you live by the IdPol dogma.

I think wearing a shirt that says "Socialism is for F*gs" is demeaning and inappropriate. I have quite a few gay friends. They're great people. They are affluent, play golf and like the Grateful Dead like I do.

I would much rather have people like that on my side than mental midgets like Crowder.
The shirt does not say "socialism is for fags" people like you love to misrepresent the facts dont ya?

Google the history of political satirical cartoons (hint- freedom of speech in the UK). Then the brutish editorial and journalistic commentry of 19th century newspapers in the USA.

We came from a place where public figures could not only be safely bashed (in words), but would expect to be bashed.

Now we have alt-left filth saying free speech *must* be closed down cos people might use it to bash (in words) alt-left mouthpieces working for *official* mainstream outlets.

Yet pieces of filth like Maza think his team has the right to demonise ordinary citizens with little power of recourse. Just look at how filthy Team Maza and filthy Team Soros demonised that kid in Washington, when Soros and Maza's 'native American' stooge went up to him in a carefully staged media event.

Free speech for me, but not for thee. Goebbels would have certainly patted Maza on the back.

Operation Snowflake is, of course, simply another Orwellian tactic by alt-left hand puppets like Maza. And they are hand puppets. "we are here to learn a lesson, kiddies. People who say mean things must be made to go away".

Many of the hand puppets, like Maza, have the IQ of a dead snail. They are chosen for current cultural appeal. And their carefully curated affectations are all for the same reason. Then you play the 'nice' vs 'nasty'.

The Covington kid did wake a lot of people up just for a moment, tho, when the curtain was lifted and most got a glimpse of the mechanism behind it. Did you witnessed all the harrassment Team Maza gave that kid? Maza is proud to associate with every sick depraved media personality that piled their hatred on that *innocent* young man.

But then the background and very purpose of Vox is satanic.

This is the problem with everything having this "you're either with us or against us" dynamic. If you aren't being entirely partisan you will be called an SJW or racist. There's no in between. People have to start claiming Crowder is smart, funny, insightful and that his shirts are great because he's on their side now. On the other side you have people saying how wonderful Vox is just because that's the opinion they need to have for this. You can't just say both sides are embarrassing.
I think both of these people involved are behaving like children but if people like gaywonk get their way people will eventually be put to death for making gay jokes or watching "shitty TV programs". I only know Crowder from 1 Roqan podcast which I thought he came across terrible and this new controversy which I must say, that apology video was fucking great!

It seems there are plenty of people in this thread that aren't fans of Crowder but still recognize that this isn't heading in a good direction.

If you asked 100 normal people at a golf tournament what they thought 'f*gs' was supposed to mean, 100 people would give the same answer. Pretending otherwise is obtuse and kind of childish.

They seem nice:

So, let's get this sorted. "you should kill [x]" isn't hate speech or an incitement to violence on an individual, but "Mexican" or "Lispy Queer" are dangerous and need to be actioned at a nuclear level.

And this extremist level of dishonesty and hypocrisy is why these people are dangerous.
Because they demonstrate a belief that they deserve protections that their targets should be stripped of.
The tweet is no longer available.

You're defending a limp wristed fag joke, yet I'm in the wrong here.
As has been pointed out repeatedly, that's not what the joke is. It's not even what it says.
You are either bad at reading or choosing to be dishonest.

This thread is proving why pride month is still a thing.

"It says F*gs with a guy with a limp wrist, it doesn't mean fag!"
You are literally refusing to see what is in front you of in order to act wounded.

-

Now apply some introspection, read the thread and try not to emulate thin-skinned authoritarians and you might have an epiphany of common sense.

Or, you can do the "I'm oppressed" dance and continue to weaponise nothingness in an appeal to emotion rather than use reason.

The choice is yours.

I have read the thread. Shirt is offensive as fuck. Where is the logical reason that this shirt is ok?

If I had a shirt that said "Go F*** yourself" you wouldn't think "fine" you'd think "fuck". C'mon with this shit.

EDIT: And this is without a stick figure masturbatin on the shirt as well

Well, "Go Fine yourself" doesn't make much grammatical sense. So...

But, and this has been explained in this thread before, you are blaming something else for your interpretation and then choosing to be outraged about your interpretation.
Yes, it is deliberately trying to make you think that. But it is not saying that.
YOU are the one filling in the gap and getting bent out of shape about it.
You have been successfully manipulated.
And now you're in a catch-22 because you either have to double-down on your outrage act, or accept that an inanimate object has outwitted you.

And, as I said a couple of posts up, you are exhibiting exactly the mentality @gaywonk used to kick all of this drama off.

I'm only going off the shirt in this thread, but THERE IS A LIMPED WRIST ALONG SIDE THE PHRASE "F*G".

The fuck at "my interpretation". Limp wrist next to the phrase f*g will be considered jaded against gays. You can't argue that.

Do people really think Trump is an orange, or a Cheetoh?

Comedy is the crass expression of our unformed internal frustrations. Go ahead and condemn offensive things, but censoring comedy takes us down that slippery slope.

Oh good, we've got phrases in ALLCAPS.

It is still you that is making connections.
It is your interpretations that you are raging about.

You are emulating @gaywonk with remarkable accuracy.

Why does this shirt have to be "okay"? When was it decided that homosexuals get to decide what we are allowed to say, or what shirt to wear?

Thank you for bringing the subject back to the actual one.

"Slippery slope" is a common fallacy used in debates (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slippery_slope)

No where have I stated he should be silenced or demonetized. If there is an audience there, sure, make them bills.

Just think he's an awful person.

Are people just trying deliberately to act thick here?

Surely MANY of us as children would have said words that sounded kind of like swear words and had a laugh at how naughty we were being?

So the T-Shirt is immature at worst. Who gives a fuck? Roll your eyes, say "grow up" and move on.

This is like if my mother punished me for doing that with a "stop doing that or your grounded" and you fucking kicked the door in and roared at her "are you only scolding your child!? NO! Kick his fucking cunt in!"

It's immature at worst.

For me personally, it was when a good friend of mine came out. I couldn't believe all the stupid jokes and things that I said that really hurt his feelings. He didn't think he was normal, or even a good person for being gay and that weighed on me.

I don't want to hurt people. Why do you?

So you admit the shirt is homosexual in reference?
I'm not admitting anything. I asked 2 simple questions.

Why does this shirt have to be "okay"? When was it decided that homosexuals get to decide what we are allowed to say, or what shirt to wear?
What gives you the right to play morality police? If so, is it because you're gay? You can censor and deplatform anyone who you decide you don't like now?
