”Hey the democrats are losing support in this district.

” well fuck them they are poor..”

😂 and you wonder why you people lose elections.
amazing how "economic anxiety doesn't exist!"/"the south is all racist white people!" are the standard liberal lines, while the south is where a majority of black people live in America, and indeed, they struggle with that "nonexistent" economic anxiety. they erase all the black people they don't want to consider and raise up the ones that support the company line.

when they need them to vote, it's all this pandering "we listen to black voices" crap. the only black voices they are about are the ones they hire to thought launder their neo lib bs on mainstream media and make it seem diverse.

Mississippi would for sure be a lot better off is Dems actually gave a shit for black people 24/7 rather than just when it is election time. even then, they can barely lift a finger. go look at Elizabeth Warren's website at her plans for "racial and economic justice"

immigrants are at the top of the list. black people already living here aren't even the first concern for "racial justice". and LOL @ "Entrepreneurs of Color" the most neolib means tested line i've read in a while. "Black America" is third on the list, but it's tied to "a working agenda" which is basically more neolib bootstraps talk.

they just don't care. this is why immigration has been turned into such a big issue, they can call it "racial justice" and not even have to promise black people a thing.

Mississippi is a R+33 state where Republicans hold the Governorship, the House, and the Senate (and every downballot election there is).

It's more likely that conservative Democrats and independents would caucus with the Republicans for political reasons, as Democrats have virtually zero power in the state. Especially during a presidential cycle where there's no state primaries to worry about.

Mississippi is a solidly Republican stronghold. Even when we had a Democrat governor, he might as well have been a Republican.

I don't know if my home state can ever get out of its own way to rise up and be better than it's ever been.

I don't defend shitting in the street or spreading HIV, neither would any sane or rational person. Then again, any state will have laws I disagree with.

Have you been to California? Its national parks alone are breathtaking. You can see the hottest place in the Western hemisphere and then visit glaciers within a matter of hours. In addition to its natural beauty, its #1 in agriculture. Over a third of vegetables consumed in the US are grown there.

I understand that it is quite fashionable in right-wing circles to bash California, but perhaps you would have a different view if you spent some time there.

More on topic, I have spent a great deal of time in Mississippi. It certainly doesn't compare to California but its not without natural resources as many in this thread have suggested. Its got coastal access, the river which bears its name, oil and natural gas, beautiful forests and also has very rich, fertile soil. You can't blame a lack of resources for MS being the fattest, most illiterate state. Perhaps if they weren't so hostile toward public education?
I lived in California the majority of my life. That is how I know you are full of shit. Living here is not the equivalent of living in a postcard. People don’t go from national parks to glaciers ”in a matter of hours”. People who live here spend hours in traffic to go to a job where a third of their paycheck is taken by taxes and the cost of housing is so high they are forced to live outside the city or in their car. People here hire accountants to figure out anyway to save money from the state collector. People here have to figure out how to not step in human shit or needles when they walk outside.

its not fucking paradise or a television show. We have tons of fat people, tons of poor people here, tons of issues here. But since you are so far up your ass regarding your left wing bubble, you wouldn’t recognize any of those things even if I showed them to you.

reality is just a lie us evil right wingers made up. Bad things only exist in red states, right?

Your state is nothing but fat retards who can’t read according to Belmarduk. why do you think people who think like that would care about your state

That sounds about right. Our capital city is democratic but the rest of the state is firmly GOP.

They get a pretty good deal on US government services based upon what they pay in taxes.

You absolutely can drive from death valley to the john muir trail in a matter of hours. I've done it. Traffic can be a problem in any urban area. You would also have to pay taxes most anywhere. If you want to argue opinions, then that's fine.. but statistics that show Mississippi is the fattest, least literate state are not difficult to find.

Our school system is fucked by nepotism because we've got 151 districts each with superintendents making far to much money.
We also seem to have a problem funding and getting good teachers into school that are primarily black or poor.

The general public is in favor of better schools and better roads, but our local government is so corrupt nothing will be done about it.
My local government is so fucking disgusting that cops will look for people that roommate with people and force them to move out because the home owner isn't pay taxes for the income of a roommate.

And stating statistics without context is useless.

Statistics show that black schools are the worst state wide. Does that mean it's okay to say black people are stupid?

Or maybe does it show that there is something more than just numbers at play.

It's easy to point fingers and talk shit.

Not at all. I'm blaming people not paying their taxes and sending their kids to private school because they don't like integration. Better public schools benefit everyone.

Where's the evidence for the tax evasion?

and sending their kids to private school because they don't like integration.
Dang, that inconvenient right to choose what schools parents want to send their kids to...

Better public schools benefit everyone.
Public schools won't improve from removing school choice from parents.

As long as you realize that the state of Mississippi is trapped with corrupt officials that only care for keeping themselves and their friends in office and in the money.

Yeah, Jackson needs to have major restructuring of it's school system. Almost all white people in Jackson send their kids to Madison or Jackson Prep.

I wasn't talking about tax evasion. I was referring to Republican rule and the lack of local taxes to go toward public schools. Its not just racial animosity that makes white Mississippians send their kids to private schools but also extreme religious fundamentalism (as if they couldn't learn about that stuff at church.)

I see no lies here tbh.

With the introduction of a state lottery I'm hoping we get better infrastructure and school funding. But it's still early days.

I'm glad you finally got one after so many years of objections from religious extremists and the Biloxi casinos. Hopefully things will improve for you guys.
