Warframe: Plains of Eidolon |OT| Certified Free Range

You level up your mastery (basically your account level) by using lots of different weapons. Leveling up the same weapon again won't give you any more mastery, so you'll have to use lots of different weapons as you play, but you can still keep a few of your favorite weapons around.

And leveling up your account level does what exactly? You have better stats?
I guess I should drop the second heat sword I just got then.

No better stats no.

Its a slow progression meta level that has an effect on a lot of game systems, especially tings like daily caps. As you gain Mastery Ranks you gain the ability to craft new weapons (that are Mastery locked), raise your daily caps in terms of bonus Syndicate Reputation gains, void traces, and trading limits, and more.

Every two levels you gain a saved loadout slot (Warframe+Weapons+Gear+Companion), and each level of Mastery is basically a free (advance on a) level of experience on weapons and frames and companions. This is a little tricky though, so consider that at starting mastery with an unranked weapon or frame you have zero mod capacity to work with in terms of slotting mods. If you're rank 16 Mastery, your unranked weapons and frames can slot mods as if they were level 16. The side effect of this is you don't gain any mod capacity until you rank the item from zero up to beyond level 16 at which point you start to gain more capacity to slot more mods as usual.

The end result of this is that the longer you've played the the more power you can squeeze out of your low level gear from mods, and thus the quicker you can level them up.

These days whenever I start an unranked loadout, I usually head right into level 15-20 missions because of Mastery rank bonuses.

I'm a little dissapointed with the plains. I assumed that they'd be big multiplayer spaces as opposed to being limited to 4 players.

I ended up switching to solo to do them because group play lead to more host migration than usual. Hopefully that sorts itself out as seamless multiplayer is one of the games strengths.

If you go to Foundry you will see an Archwing launcher blueprint. Needs some of the materials found on the plain to craft, then you can fly on the planes.

Oh cool so you start with it? Then whats the archwing dojo research for?

Downloading as we speak, zaphyr is almost finished in the foundry going to use here also for fast travel.

With the movement system this is going to be fun instead of being in small corridors.

I'm near the end of the War Within. I've just gotten the
Transference ability and I need to posses one of these maws to continue along the quest...only nothing happens.

I stun the bad guy and I tap 5 while aiming at various parts of it. Nothing
I stun the bad guy and I hold 5. Nothing
I stun the bad guy and I hold Numpad 5. Nothing
I stun the bad guy and I tap Numpad 5 while aiming at various parts of it. Nothing
I remap the key to Mouse 5 and try both the taps and hold. Nothing
I ALT+F4 out of the game and replay from the checkpoint try again. Nothing
I try everything again with the "Align Attacks to Camera" toggle disabled and again with it re-enabled. Nothing

I'm pretty sure my entire PC save is fucked right now. I *just* did this quest on PS4 last night so I'm aware of what should be happening.

Ugh.

Hm it's locked for me, I have everything unlocked on Earth tho.
Man when this game does not explain something, it really does not explain and care.

The game is pretty unintuitive to tell the truth.

BTW how do you get the drops on twitch? I am linked. Been watching a dude streaming warfare.

Does leveling up your weapon again after forma not count in your mastery?

Kinda but not really.
Leveling your overall rank will give you aditional slots, give access to more weapons and increase base capability of weapons and frames. If your MR is let's say 10 even if your weapon/frame is level 0-10 you have 10 points you can use to add mods.

Man these download speeds on the launcher are reminding me why I stopped playing in the first place. Is there any way to speed this up? My internet is 220 down 17 up and caps out at 27MB/s and the launcher is just downloading at 250kb/s. I dont think I've ever gotten more than 1MB/s since I've played this game in closed beta.

Currently at 166 separate instances of Cetus.

That's pretty damn impressive.

The craziest thing I saw earlier was looking at the Plains of Eidolon from the navigation screen and seeing "2031 open squads".

Well trying to play with my friend was pretty difficult to get anything started due to connection issues. Solo was working great and I had a fun time getting my feet wet with fishing and mining. Looks like the new custom weapons will rely heavily on all the new resources in the plains.

I only had a little jaunt on the plains when the update came out before getting to bed, but it was fun to see Cetus and run around the area. I can see that a lot of grinding for various resources will be needed, and some bounties need tweaking - looking for the three crate needles in the circular haystack is annoying as shit, and escorting the drone sucks - but yeah, really exciting overall. DE continues to do amazing things.

Great! I'm stuck in the war within quest cause the transference is bugged. Time to call it a day I guess
Happened to me just now in the Harrow quest. Logged out and back in and that fixed it. Don't know why it's bugged or why that fixed it in the first place.

One question : did they improve the horrible Archwing mode and control ? The fact that some of those missions were mandatory turned me off when I tried to play the PS4 version.

Speaking of glitches. My Frost prime has had some kind of small weird red blob on the side of its neck (looks a bit like an infestation mark) for a while, and for the life of me I have no idea where it comes from or if it's supposed to be there until I complete The War Within or something (much like Vor's Ascaris device before you finish that quest). But I doubt it because my Excalibur doesn't have it.

Needless to say I don't have any accessories on, and making all my weapons invisible when holstered doesn't have an impact either.

Frankly at a loss. I can't play the game right now so I can't take a screenshot, but any advice is welcome.

[EDIT]

Apparently I need Vor's Prize to be able to get to the Plains. I have that finished... I still can't access it?

Make sure you go to Cetus first. It's the node right next to PoE on the Earth starmap. Cetus is the city that gives you access to PoE.

Ah silly me, that might be it - I tried accessing it directly.
Weird that there is no "introduction quest" or something similar.

It's alright, took me a few seconds to get it too.

Knowing DE, the introduction quest will come 2 years from now :p.

I haven't seen it myself, but I know it's possible to pick up an infection.

In the back of your ship (at least in the starter ship) you'll see a door that is partially covered in crud from the infestation levels. The door will open and you sit in a chair and it is automatically removed. Afterwards you can't enter the for again. What it is and how you got it is a mystery to me though

Your Frost prime is infected. It happens when you group up with someone already infected. The cyst on its neck will grow until a small tentacle like thingy will pop out of it waving around (its how they say hi!)

Its harmless, dont worry. You can get rid of it on the infected room on your ship (wich you can only open when infected, i believe,). Once you do, that particular warframe will be inmune to the infection and wont catch it again.

I was questing with a friend last night when the update dropped. We wandered around Cetus for a bit, but there were some server issues so we couldn't see eachother or enter the plains together.

Looking forward to seeing what this new content has to offer when I get off work for the day.

Wait until
it grows a tentacle (takes about a week) and then visit the infested room at the back of the orbiter to cure and inoculate your frame. It's a viral thing spread between players.

Ew. I heard about that in Skillup's video review, and I'd seen the corruption at the back of my ship, but I somehow forgot about it. So nobody has any idea what it does (if it does something) or why it even exists, right?

[EDIT] I was gonna say: if you're playing Nidus, you probably wouldn't notice it anyway lol.

It’s used to create the Helminth Charger, an infected dog companion.

Oh... I was hoping it was that too. Or at least have a slightly higher player count than 4.

Do people run into other player on the Plains or is it mostly solitary?

Anyways, I have now begun preparing my weapons and equipment for when this hits on PS4 (hopefully with all the bugs worked out).

It's like any node really: you're teamed up with 3 other people, and you won't see anyone else while you're on the plains. Obviously when you're in town, like in any relay, you see lots of people.

I really like the concept of the Plains. I hope DE continues down this road with different planets. I wouldn't mind them upping the party size a bit (8 is probably a good number) and making the areas a bit larger, but so far I think it's a really well done update.

The thing that's still not clear to me about PoE is whether the map is procedurally generated like everything else (as in different layouts), or if it's the encounters and physical things like encampments and the like... Or just the encounters?

The map itself is not procedurally generated. An enemy camp will always be in the same spot. A cave will always be in the same spot. Steve (their creative director) said that they plan on adding procedurally generated underground caves accessible through the Plains, but I don't know when that would be.

So is it ok to sell maxed out weapons? Are there any negative effects?

Unless you consider not having a maxed out weapon a negative effect, you should be fine. Keep in mind that some weapons are used to build other weapons. You might want to do a quick check of the weapon's wiki page to make sure before tossing it in the trash.

Making it such a chore to get Archwing on the plains seems like a misstep. The resources required for the charges are fairly steep. I'd prefer if it was just on cool down or something.

You can purchase those charges with Platinum, right?

So I had some of the cores to turn in for Quill standing but when I go to turn them in it says I have a daily cap of 0?? So since I have a cap of 0 it says I've reached the limit already and so I can't turn any of them in for standing...

What am I missing here.... ?

It should have just been a market credit purchase.

Others have been having this problem, it seems to be a bug. Just collect the cores you can for now.

Ok cool. Figured it was most likely a bug but just checking...

And yea the situation with enabling archwing on the plains is the most disappointing thing about PoE right now to me. They made such a big deal about flying around the plains pre-release and it looked really fun... But then it's so grindy to actually get the materials to craft what you need and then on top of that it's limited use? Such a bummer and makes me just not want to bother with it at all.

I'm totally fine with some grinding of course but this in particular was handled poorly IMO.
