Was this newly added Transsexual mission in Yakuza 3 remastered on PS4 in the original PS3 game??

Yikes sweaty did you just say “mad“? You do realize that “mad” is a term that was once used to describe mentally ill folx? That makes it a slur, which means y’alls a toxic problematic racist. ur intolerance is intolerable, nazi.
Damn dude you got issues

I know that she is in the game dude, i want a proof that the cringy SJW dialogue was in the game too.
What the fuck do you need? Nagoshi confirming it to you personally?
There‘s trans people in Yakuza world. And the have stories to tell about their struggles.

There‘s no „SJW dialogue“ added in. It was probably removed from the American version origininally to not offend brittle snowflakes like you.

Bro but if they aren't pushing an agenda then he can't push one and then we wouldn't have a thread...

As someone who has some serious (as in chronic and deadly) illness. I have an issue with the framing of the conversation when they tell this person thay they have the biggest possible obstacle someone can have in their life.

Also, this would be a strange reason to cancel a pre-order on a game you know you will like.

You are flat out lying.
Thanks to you, I actually realized there was a typo in the second word (gender reassignment surgery). It should have been 性別適合手術 instead of 正適合手術, which isn't anything. I went back and edited it. That's what I get for trying to type replies on my phone earlier.

Well, 2009 was a very different time in terms of acceptance and understanding of anything trans, honestly. Didn't most of the US oppose gay marriage back then, too?

Well, most of the world did.
Still doesn't make the theming a problem in 2019.

Shouldn't have been a problem in 2009, either, but Sega of America obviously thought it was too sensitive of a topic to publish as-is back then. Kind of crazy to think that, a decade later, we've got people accusing the same company of actually making up trans-themed content in localization in order to execute some kind of agenda.

Yeah, that really radical agenda of all people being equal.

It disturbs certain people.

Yeah, that really radical agenda of all people being equal.
It's not all people being equal that's the issue, it is the idea that there aren't gender differences. People are equal as human beings, in terms of moral worth, but physically they aren't.

You have people saying men can have periods, men can have abortions, when realistically biological males can't have any of that. You also have the issue of transgenders in sport breaking records. There are also some that want toddlers to transition, despite most toddlers with gender issues supposedly growing out of it if left alone, instead of being put into a high suicide rate category if there's an intervention*(and also being sterilized).

Also surgically you can get a more similar appearance, but functionally it's not the same, or so I've heard. There's no menstruation, no possibility of pregnancy, and there can be lubrication issues*(though this is the case for some biological females too.). In addition, I don't know if it's made up, but some say just like you need to put something in the ear to prevent the wound from closing with regards to piercing, after reassignment they also need to put something in to prevent the body from closing the artificial organ.

Most of the world still does, just to a much lesser extent in the occidental world (despite the best efforts of some people to make us believe we are the worst place that ever existed).

Note that the most populated areas are some tint of orange to red.

My kids didn't even know much about them having a sex/gender at 3 (like they can recognize a "father" or a "mother" , but they don't really know the mechanic of it, not that we hide that from them). Before I had kids I made myself ready to accept them as they came, that's crazy that I have to say it, but that includes mu daughter liking princesses, pink and purple, my son watching my little poney with his sister and growing out of it pretty fast.

Holy shit this thread is a dumpster fire. Yeah the remasters are cutting some stuff, likely due to identity politics, and that's bullshit. That doesnt mean all content that aligns with those politics is shoehorned in. There's video evidence this was present in the original release, and refusing to acknowledge it because you can't personally differentiate kanji is stupid.

This kinda rings hollow when you consistently get triggered and derail threads whenever the forum’s general opinion is one that you dislike.
lol, Why, because I comment and point out how stupid you guys are for always being such delicate snowflakes? Please, how many threads have I made crying about this weeks dev's choice to do "wrong-think" like you guys always do?

Man, dat classic reactionary "NO U", every time. Pearl clucking over every gay character, trans character, female lead, non white lead, "ugly" female character, mention of gender, mention of accessibility, use of "forbidden words", diversity... It's all a SJW conspiracy and you guys just can't, you literally just can't. ...But it's the otherside that are triggered all the time :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_grinning_smiling: :messenger_grinning_smiling: :messenger_grinning_smiling: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I've gotta admit...this response and that several people are laughing at it is freaking me out a bit.

Edit: (Sorry...I've never played this game series, so I wasn't aware how that comment may have been intended as a joke about beat-'em-up games.)

Advocating to beat up trans people? Just a normal day on NeoGAF, at this point. The amount of utter hate for LGBT people, but especially trans people on this site is amazing.
Well, I'm thankful that most people here are very kind...having shown me a wonderful level of support over the past two years. When I first made an account here toward the end of 2017 (after the 'exodus')...I was initially worried everyone hated trans people because of much of the drama that happened. I was relieved to learn that it wasn't really trans people that was making people upset, but rather the near-militaristic attitude and showing of entitlement that some people have shown in social media....often projecting that they are supporting trans people, but sadly often having a negative outcome in much of the public eye.

I'm incredibly thankful for any support that is shown, but often the fighting that takes place over these issues hurts my heart more than anything else. I just wish that everyone could live in peace and harmony...having empathy and treating others with kindness even when they have radically different viewpoints. Maybe someday it will be possible, but we are still unfortunately a long way from it. :lollipop_pensive:

If it's any consolation, a lot of the issues people around here have with the trans community is backlash against the nutjobs. When people dont know anyone trans personally, and they see nutjobs like Jessica Yaniv, "tucutes", and the people advocating for letting prepubescent children get HRT, it creates a negative impression. By actively communicating with others, even when they're hostile, you're helping break down that divide.

That stuff is just giving people excuses, everyone knows not to judge any number of people by the most extreme/crazy/offensive person they may share a characteristic with. Like what, they may believe if you're not of a characteristic they feel familiar with, you suddenly lose the ability to be your own person and therefor absolutely must align 100% with anything anyone with that single characteristic has ever done or said? Why would that be the case if they don't also feel accountable for any shit any hetero male or any gamer or whatever single characteristic they align with has ever done on this earth? Oh no those trans people want our children to change their sex, they're sick in the head! Oh, I heard the refugee families are really invaders aged 18-40 who want to kill us in the name of Allah! Oh I saw a video on the natzitube where they explicitly proclaimed those things! It must be true, we must defend ourselves, our country, from those who wish to harm or twist its ideals! Etc. People know better, we hold the world at our fingertips nowadays, this isn't the dark ages, you don't need to personally experience shit like American History X's protagonist to get them, some just don't act better. Then when confronted by someone after saying something like Ailynn quoted they can just defend that bs by saying, oh well, you seem good, not like those nutjobs, I like you, I wouldn't beat your ass, I wasn't even serious. Eventually making it out to be you're the exception to the rule and they will keep randomly spewing hatred with generalizations about people like you but not really you cos you're different and not a nutjob because they're not racists or whatever and they even have friends that are such and such you know. Well that's what I think since it was discussed.

I'd argue it's because of the demographic rarity. They see other hetero men/women, gay men/women, different races ect..., but they dont see other trans people. Their only exposure to the trans community is the crazies that make the news, and with no litmus to compare against they assume that's representative of the community as a whole. It doesnt help that a lot people look at it as an ideology rather than a demographic. The average person doesnt know what dysphoria is, let alone how it manifests in trans people. So they just see trans folk as being people who believe the same thing as those crazies on tv. Now I dont believe that's fair, but I do think it's what happens.

Nah, you will be banned now if you wrote the same post on Resetera, also people make mistakes and i made one by making this thread, i didn't make it to get outraged on the dev team, i just wanted to make sure that their original vision was not changed and i got my answer, that's it.
The mistake you made wasn’t in making the thread; it was in belligerently arguing like a fucking idiot with people who are more aware than you are.

Great work Z Zefah Sometimes there seems to exist a slight danger of this place become a mirror image of Reset, and there has been an uptick in those kind of posts/threads recently, but the mods and the users always quickly bring things back towards sanity.

The OP seems contrite, so hopefully he'll learn from this. As Nietzsche said:

"He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster.
And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee."
Edit: also could we change the title of this thread to "Anti-SJW gets DESTROYED by FACTS and LOGIC" please?

Can’t speak for others but I found it funny because it highlights the fact that, by nature of being a beat-em-up game, every interaction is going to end in a fight. The funny part isn’t the idea of a transwoman getting beat up, it’s the juxtaposition of the game trying to have a serious message about “inclusivity” and then asking you to fistfight the “included” person because of the game’s nature.

I wouldn’t assume that people who liked that comment simply enjoy violence against trans people.

I guess I could understand someone reading the comment that way as you explain it, but I didn't remotely read that as the authors intention, due to way that:

i) the dialogue in this conversation is purely explanatory rather than confrontational
ii) it wasn't framed as a fight, only of "beating the shit" out of someone
iii) this would simply happen "after the conversation" with no other provocation
iv) the poster used " 'her' " (complete with quotation marks, frequently used in transphobic manner)

But I could be wrong. Communications - especially jokes and one liners - don't always get to the other end of their journey with the intent intact.

Hopefully stuart360 can clarify; it's one of those things it'd be nice to be wrong about!

That is how I took that comment as well. It would be no different if the same message was in Fallout, for example. You can have an emotional moment one minute with an NPC, and the next moment "murder" them, steal their stuff and drag their corpse around to make a throne with.

Hi.

Japanese people accepted NewHalfs decades before they accepted Homosexuals, so this isn't really surprising, although "accepted" is a relative term as much of Japan did/does shun both and NewHalfs were more of a sex fetish than a social movement until the last 7-8 years due to western political intervention. Before Japanese politicians blocked such things in the 80's and 90's (which is why Capcom made poison one because they could score points back then for it in certain cities that tried to make it a political issue. Now it sort of is one in 2019, though the current push for families and more kids is pushing that back and is causing issues in the Newhalf community.)

However, the OP is technically correct, the original Japanese did share some terms but the context of the conversation wasn't condescending (lol they think it's educational) or was framed as a political issue. The English translation clearly does, So yes, it was technically edited.

Regardless Yakuza is smaller series that most gamers aren't interested in outside a niche, so none of this really matters. Also, is there even a real women in the thread to give their perspective on this? It just a bunch of men arguing over Kanji and false doctrines, which while hilarious, doesn't really get us anywhere.

Personally, I believe most Yakuza players will likely not even see this, which is already a small group as is, or if they do will skip through the text. Japanese players will look at it strangely as some sort of Newhalf joke or cringe event while shrugging their shoulders (unless they are newhalf players which is actually unlikely) and everyone will move on. Nothing to see here.

3 pages of something that's not a big deal and won't even matter in the grand scheme of things, congratulations guys, you did it!

Damn, I missed that post. That's some ugly shit.

It doesn't even make sense as a joke in the context of the Yakuza series.

How is the English translation as shown in those screenshots presented as a political issue?

It's a pretty faithful translation, with just two liberties being taken as far as I can tell:

1. Doctors sometimes call it “gender identity disorder”. Personally, I don’t like the word “disorder” being used to describe who I am..

Japanese:
医学的には「性同一性障害」って言うんです。
自分では「障害」って言葉に
違和感があるんですが・・・

More faithful translation:
The medical term is "gender identity disorder."
But I don't like to use the word "disorder."

2. That’s right. I underwent gender reassignment surgery, so now my physical appearance matches the gender I identify as. I’m a woman, through and through.

Japanese:
そうなんです。
いまは性別適合手術を受けて、
やっと体も戸籍も女性になりました。

More faithful translation:
That's right. I underwent gender reassignment surgery, so now I'm a woman in body and on my family registry.

Note: the family registry "koseki" system is a pretty uniquely Japanese thing, so I see why they wouldn't use that terminology, but saying something like "I'm legally a woman now, too" might have been better.

Honestly, neither of these liberties are that big of a deal to me and I imagine they were done to make the dialogue sound more natural than for any nefarious political agenda.

I don't get the spin here. If you place the direct translation next to the localized translation the context is clearly different and the sentence structure is framed differently.

You are making too big a deal out of this. I have no interest in arguing over minuscule issues. This scene as overblown by the OP, most players likely won't see it or will skip through the text, Japanese players will cringe, English players will lol, and the series is niche anyway so it's not like this is in GTA, nothing here matters in the grand scheme of things.

This really isn't a subject that warrants 3 pages. You're trying to hard to make it seem like I'M saying there's a "nefarious agenda" and that frustration comes from the OP and you still haven't calmed down yet. I am not agreeing with OP who took it to conspiracy levels.. What I said was It is clear that the text was formed in a way that would be more "advocative" than the Japanese version, but not the big deal the OP originally claimed.

So, well, there you go.

There's no spin. I was reacting to this part of what you wrote (you know, what I quoted last time):

The discrepancies you are describing are simply not there. I pointed out the only two liberties that the translation took to illustrate that point.

Your claim that the localized version is "condescending (they think it's educational), and is framed as a political issue" and that the Japanese version is not, is simply unfounded. You're implying that they changed this scene in localization to be political and condescending towards players. That sounds like a nefarious agenda to me.

It only sounds like a "nefarious agenda" because you are emotionally overeating due to your arguments with users earlier in the threads, wo your equalizing our statements.

If you place them side to side they are not framed the same way, that's fact, not an agenda, nitpicking words doesn't work put both translations directly as they are without out tweaking them next to to each other, anyone would pick it out. I'm not saying it was a brainwashing campaign, but the localization was clearly a bit advocative in tone. That's it. If you want to compare that to the overblown statements earlier in the thread you can, but that doesn't make much sense.

Anyway this thread has served its purpose.

Why do you keep making comments about how much discussion a topic deserves or should be allowed? It's weird.

Anyway, I guess we'll just have to disagree that the framing between the languages is different in any meaningful way.

Yes, but they apparently don't mean anything to you. None of those quotes imply or say that "this thread shouldn't be allowed" your trying really hard grasping for straws trying to equalize two different arguments. Take sometime away from the screen, right now you're basically just turning into an alternate version of the OP, stop.

I've gotta admit...this response and that several people are laughing at it is freaking me out a bit.

Edit: (Sorry...I've never played this game series, so I wasn't aware how that comment may have been intended as a joke about beat-'em-up games.)
Sorry Ailynn I reacted with a laugh but because I thought it wasn't serious? If it is fuck that and the user then.
