There were zero new releases this week in the UK afaik. Most sites still have last weeks releases up as 'new'.

edit: I guess WoW on Wednesday counts as this week.

The online gaming phenomenon that is ‘World of Warcraft’ tops the All Formats Top 40 this week with the long-awaited first official add-on ‘World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade’ debuting at No1.

Released on Tuesday 16th January ‘World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade’, developed by Blizzard and published by Vivendi, was allowed 5 days of sales rather than the traditional two, but still narrowly missed beating ‘Championship Manager 04’ to the title of fastest selling PC game ever in the UK by just under 1,000 units. ‘Burning Crusade’ accounts for 30% of all PC games sold this week compared to 40% for Eidos’ ‘Championship Manager 04’ in week 13 2003. In its launch week ‘World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade’ outsells the original World of Warcraft’s launch week by almost 4 to 1 with the number of subscribers to the game now estimated to be over 8 million worldwide. ‘Burning Crusade’ is only playable with the original game so it is not surprising to see ‘World of Warcraft’ re-enter the Top 40 at No28. Last week’s chart topper from Capcom ‘Lost Planet: Extreme Condition’ moves down to No2, but outsells the No3 title Nintendo’s ‘Wario Ware: Smooth Moves’ by more than 2 to 1.

Sega’s ‘World Snooker Championship 2007’ pockets a successful 2nd week of release with sales up 44%, moving up the rankings from No17 to No6 (No2 in the PS2 Full Price Chart, behind ‘FIFA 07’), while Nintendo’s ‘Wii Play’ makes the most of renewed stock, up from No19 to No11. The PC gaming sector does not only receive a boost from Warcraft, but also benefits from strong retailer promotions of super-budget titles with Egames/Greenstreet’s ‘Galaxy of Games Red’ featuring at No24, ‘Sega Rally’ from GDL’s Grabit range at No27, GSP’s ‘Puppy Luv’ at No31 and ‘Sonic Mega Collection Plus’ at No36.

Nice to have some relative sales. Seems LP is doing well in week 2.

What? :lol :lol
What? It needed to sell 1000 units more to beat Championship Manager 04... that was back when SI was in change of the series and it was a HUGE game.

...I am guessing you read the quote as saying the game only sold 1000 units? Otherwise I don't see the need for the lol

Why aren't there numbers attached to UK and other European sales like NPD and Media Create?
Chart Track records figures, but only releases them if you have a license (much like NPD/#11+ of MC).

Want to buy one? :)

I was just wondering how it didn't even surpass the sales of a FOOTBALL MANAGER GAME. :lol

Afair the only one posting numbers was GT but he seems to be gone :/ For the other european countries we sometimes got hardware numbers from GFK France for DS, GBA and PSP, but these were released by Nintendo.

WW SM seems to be selling quite well in England,, which amazes me .. (they usually buy the usual fifa, PES and EA stuff) great to see Zelda has some legs too..

So to you, "trying harder" is spending £thousands just to provide GAF with some numbers to please a few fanboys?

Everyone loves numbers, but unless there's an insider hovering around the boards when we post this stuff, we just have to stick with what we've got.

38) (Nintendo) POKEMON MYSTERY DUNGEON: BLUE RESCUE

It's amazing that this title is already a million selling title in Europe, and mind-blowing that Nintendogs sold more than 5 million in Europe (Nintendo press-release from today).

Pretty good numbers over all, especially from WoW and WW:SM. In the Netherlands tv commercials for WW are all over the place. Good to see Nintendo doing a lot of advertising for software and hardware (even though there arn't any Wii's to come by heh), and continuing it 6 weeks after launch. :)

Ahh ignorance how I've missed you, CM (football manager now) is one of the most addictive games for anyone who has a passion for football I stopped playing the game simply because it ate up soooo much of my time.

glad to heard people isn't stupid anymore

I'm very happy to see the numbers of Pokemon Misterious Dungeon. The game is really good. Chun Soft can't have enough love from me. :)

Thanks for those. It's always interesting to see comparisons in the UK charts.

The market is so unpredictable.

Oh god, never has colored text been so enthralling. How many sleepless nights did the 'one more game' mentality claim?
Championship / Football Manager is a special kind of crack.

More on topic, good to see Smooth Moves keeping some traction, as well as other Wii games.

Oh, and no french chart this week? :/
