Weezer sucks

Before you get all "OMG WEEZER IS BEST BAND" on me, name 5 songs that aren't Hash pipe, Island in the Sun, Buddy Holly, Pork and Beans, or Beverly Hills.

Bonus points if you can do it without Googling.

RevDM is back.

Sweater Song
Only In Dreams
Say it Ain't So
My Name is Jonas
Simple Pages

You could do this with any moderately popular band.

Before you get all "OMG FOO FIGHTESR ARE THE BEST THING" on me, name 5 songs that aren't Best of You, Learn To Fly, Monkey Wrench, The Pretender or Everlong. Most people would struggle and the rest would probably go straight to My Hero or maybe Long Road to Ruin and have nothing left after that.

Every Foo Fighters song sounds the same to me and they almost all have the same progression to them.

They're one of the most legitimately baffling popular rock bands of all time.

I like Say it Ain't So and My Name is Jonas but otherwise do not like Weezer at all. I think Pork and Beans is a horrendous song and I'm glad I don't hear it all over anymore.

Blue and Pinkerton are both completely essential 90s music.

I was really into Blue when it released, but due to a lot of weird circumstances totally missed out on Pinkerton at the time. I discovered it just a couple of years ago (with the Deluxe album) and was blown away. It is still amazing and worth all the praise.

On that note, OP:

My Name is Jonas
No One Else
The World Has Turned (and left me here)
Buddy Holly
Undone
Surf Wax America
Say it Ain't So
In the Garage
Holiday
Only in Dreams
Tired of Sex
Getchoo
No Other One
Why Bother?
Across the Sea
The Good Life
El Scorcho
Pink Triangle
Falling for You
Butterfly
You Gave Your Love To Me Softly
Devotion
Waiting On You
You Won't Get With Me Tonight

It really is a shame that everything after those first two albums is so unbelievably bad by comparison. Some of it could be labeled "average", but even those songs are so few and far between that they aren't worth digging through all the garbage to find.

Most band's hit thier peak with their second album and start to go down hill .

We can do this with almost any band or performer out there. You can most likely even do it with the beatles. Name 5 of their most popular songs and alot of people will have a hard time naming 5 more and the beatles have a huge body of work .

What I love about Weezer's songs is that they are great "sing-along" songs. Pink Triangle, Surf Wax America, Sweater Song, El Scorcho, Say it Ain't So, all fucking great songs to sing while driving to work. Easy to hit notes, simple(FUN) lyrics, ect.. There are Weezer songs for everyone, even creepy weebos.

Weezer made one great album (Pinkerton), one really good one (Blue), but the rest of their output is so terrible that saying they suck is entirely appropriate.

My Name is Jonas, The World Has Turned and Left Me Here, In the Garage, Surf Wax America, and Buddy Holly. Yes, I fucking love the blue album.

So if you only like a few songs by a band that's enough for you to say they suck?.

<3 Weezer , sure their new albums don't match Blue or Pinkerton but what does Thesedays ?. I like some of their new stuff too :).

I'll be flying to Auckland to see weezer in January , can't wait.

Pinkerton = Blue >>> Maladroit > Green >>> Red

The others are pretty bad but all these albums are worth listening to.

Dope Nose? Say it Ain't So?

That's all I got.

This topic reminds me that GAF as a website is old.

Back in the day (9-10 years ago) the OP would have been straight up banned.

That's how strong Weezer fandom used to be.

Blue album is incredible, Pinkerton is godly, and anything after that is garbage, really. It all went downhill when Matt Sharp left and took his falsetto with him.

"Not so good, Al," indeed.

So we need to know 5 Weezer songs and then 5 more Weezer songs to prove that they do not suck. I can name 50 Weezer songs, does that make them awesome? I cannot name 10 Pink Floyd songs they must suck. Most people could not name 10 Beatles songs, they must suck as well.

I don't really like the fact that Rivers Cuomo is doing songs with Steve Fucking Aoki...I do like the Alone LPs though and most of Weezer's stuff in general,so...whatever

Only song I know of from Weezer is 'All My Friends are Insects' which was written for the kids show Yo Gabba Gabba. They included it as a bonus song on Hurley I think. They didn't write it but they performed it. I love the song :) Never tried listening to anything else from Weezer though.

All My Friends are Insects

-Across the Sea
-Pink Triangle
-Say it Ain't So
-My Name is Jonas
-The Sweater Song

Bonus:

-Space Rock

Took me about 10 seconds to think of.

So glad to see all the love in this thread for Across the Sea. It's probably the best song on Pinkerton next to The Good Life.

Probably my overall favorite song of theirs, and that's saying something. I really wish that they could figure out what made their earlier albums up until Weezer (2008) so good. I loved it all until then; now I just enjoy it for what it is I guess. I won't go back and listen to it as much as I do with Make Believe or anything before it.

Largely due to Patrick.

I saw Weezer just this year at The Roxy in LA and honestly, the entire show was incredible. One of the best live performances I've ever seen. The set list was:

Undone - The Sweater Song
Troublemaker
My Name Is Jonas
I Think We're Alone Now (Tommy James & The Shondells cover)
Hash Pipe (with Brad Wilk) (sung as "Half Pint")
Perfect Situation
Buddy Holly
(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To
Island in the Sun
Pork and Beans
Say It Ain't So
Talk Dirty To Me (Poison cover)
Beverly Hills

I hear they still put on an absolutely amazing show. I really wish I could have seen them last year.

Love this band. Ive bought every album, and the only one that I probably wouldnt listen to again is Make Believe, made during Rivers' Vipassana days.
I like the way they pretty much make whatever music they want, and keep to the nerd rock thing. They make fun music even to this day, and although it has all though non-substance of the worst pop songs, the music is catchy as it has always been and you can tell Rivers and the band truly enjoy just making music for musics sake.
As for how I would rank the albums:

Pinkerton > Blue > Maladroit > Hurley > Green > Red > Raditude > Make Believe

I'd go:

1.) Blue Album
2.) Green Album
3.) Pinkerton
4.) Maladroit
5.) Make Believe

Why is Blue number one? Let's take a look at the tracks:

1. "My Name Is Jonas"
2. "No One Else"
3. "The World Has Turned and Left Me Here"
4. "Buddy Holly"
5. "Undone – The Sweater Song"
6. "Surf Wax America"
7. "Say It Ain't So"
8. "In the Garage"
9. "Holiday"
10. "Only in Dreams"

So fucking good.
