You had alot to say.
You had alot of nothing to say.

Come down.
Get off your fuckin cross.
We need the fuckin space to nail the next fool martyr.

first two albums are two of my favorite albums ever. everything else is fucking terrible in every possible way. To me, weezer broke up after Pinkerton

Really? People actually dislike the green album that they'd go to say that they aren't even the same Weezer at that point? It still retains that classic Weezer style from Blue. How can people hate Green?

I like Green but it's a bit lifeless. It's like he made Blue while sleep walking

I'm listening to Maladroit right now though, it's still a great record. They had a mini-renaissance with this and the album 5 demos. Still pissed Make Believe is what we got from that, they trashed all the good songs

Green is incredibly boring. Each song on the Blue album has substance, much like with Pinkerton. The same really can't be said for Green outside of (maybe) Island in the Sun. Just from this thread alone, the majority of the people were naming songs from Blue/Pinkerton, not Green. It's really just forgettable. Not as bad as Make Believe, but simply a poor album.

Green is great. Weezer rocks.

Just burn the green album right now and drive around.

Fuck yeah. Don't Let Go will fucking get you pumped right out of the gate.

I just have to disagree, I feel like they're hitting it on every track, I don't know. I do love Maladroit though, but I think Make Believe was actually alright.

I don't know, I just really loved Green. I still love all the songs on it, I just don't get how you could say Don't Let Go, Hashpipe, Photograph, or others are "boring." Different strokes I guess.

Why don't people appreciate This Is Such A Pity? That's always been one of the tracks from Make Believe that I feel deserves some recognition, yet I hear nobody mention it or Haunt You Every Day. Maybe it's the cheesy keyboards?

I guess I'm in a minority where I don't think Make Believe is all that terrible.

Those two songs and the album version of Perfect Situation are pretty good, iirc. It's the rest of the tracks that are poor

edit: listening to perfect situation for the first time since i was 15 and it's awful lyrically :(

Make Believe isn't terrible the first time around. But whereas Blue and Pinkerton only get better with age, Make Believe really shows how awful it is on repeat listens. Everything about it is terribly cliche and unimaginative. Like Rivers Cuomo wanted to write the perfect pop album without any substance or quality (which, I'm guessing, is what he wanted to do). This is Such a Pity is a good song, but it's not enough to save that turd of an album.

Well it's all opinion, so I certainly respect that you like Green. But Green has to be one of the more forgettable Weezer albums. A couple standout tracks but it mostly just feels flat.

I like "If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To". Such a silly song.

"I took you to Best Buy, you took me home to meet your mom and dad".

i worked at staples and i always thought it was weird that they played that song like five times a day. i mean that's a direct competitor.

I can agree with that, it's nowhere close to Pinkerton or Blue but I don't think it's as abysmal as people claim. Although I don't think I've listened to Beverly Hills, My Best Friend, or We Are All On Drugs intentionally in years.

Once I let the hope of another Pinkerton or Blue go, I could at least appreciate some of the newer material. Is it anywhere nearly as good? No. But there are still plenty of decent songs in there. Green, Mala, Make Believe, and Red (especially deluxe) all have at least two or three gems apiece, if not more. It's just that it's bogged down with inconsistency.

The Alone series really helped with the pain of never getting another Pinkerton, or a full Songs From the Black Hole, or Homie, or whatever.

those fan made versions of songs from the black hole using demos and bsides is 1000x better than anything garbage weezer released post Pinkerton
I just threw out the love of my dreams is one of the best weezer songs ever

That's an interesting choice. I like it.

You have to admit there was a bizarre drop off in quality level of both bands starting in the 2000s. Bizarre. I don't quite comprehend how the same band that gave us Pinkerton went on to release Raditude and Hurley.

And the Foos never came close to matching The Colour and the Shape. That's still one of my favorites.

Once they started getting paid... :/

something must have happened to cuomo in college

Rivers Cuomo became extremely depressed while at Harvard and later projected his experiences there into Pinkerton. However, after the critical and commercial failure of Pinkerton, he realized that deeply personal albums aren't popular with the general public. So he embarked on a quest to write songs with as much pop appeal and universality as possible, creating generic lyrics and lazy riffs. Ultimately though, depressed Rivers is best Rivers, and pretty much every album post-Pinkerton has been shlock.

Goddamn all of your posts have been the same thing.

i just threw out the love of my dreams really is a great song

Yeah, if I were in charge of their label... that's the lead single off Pinkerton, maybe making it more of a duet with Rivers & Rachel Haden trading off the lead just so people know it's a Weezer song.

It's the natural next step after Blue. I think people forget how much of a gag reflex there was from people when "El Scorcho" came out.
