What about 3rd party and cross-gen?

So now we know Sony’s first party blockbusters will be cross-gen in near future (Ratchet was never AAA, sorry, it’s a cool little game for younger audiences). I’m not that into Xbox stuff but Halo is cross-gen, right? Next Forza, no clue.

Anyway, what about 3rd party? So far, we had CoD: CW BO, AC Valhalla, Immortals FR, Hitman 3, RE 8 etc all release on last gen and Far Cry 6 next October too. When will 3rd party devs start to detach from last gen and make 3As only for next/current-gen, what do you think?

Expansions a la FFVII Intergrade do not count in my 📖. We’ll see EA, Ubisoft, Japanese devs titles at E3, will anyone dare announce a game only for PS5/Series X/PC?

I want concrete statements about current-gen exclusivity and release dates, no vague - guessing game bullshit.

I think it will last as long as there are hardware shortages.

Probably till the end of 2022.

PS3 and 360 still got big AAA games several years after the launch of PS4 and XBO (MGS5 came out in late 2015, for example), so I‘d expect the same this gen (meaning until 2022 or 2023).

For context, PS3 and 360 got both Destiny and Black Ops III in 2014 and 2015, respectively, so there’s precedent if that’s what is troubling you.

I still recall the internet relentlessly mocking Sony’s “Greatness Awaits” marketing line throughout the early PS4 years, retorting “Still waiting.” And then Bloodborne happened and everyone shut the hell up.
