I've been rediscovering the greatness that is the NES lately, and it's been pretty awesome. It was my first console ever, and it's up there with the PS2 as my favorite.
What are your top 5 games for the system? I'm not including Mario so that we get some variation. Yes, SMB 1, 2, and 3 are timeless classics, but what else did you love?
Mine would probably be (in no particular order)
1. NES Open: Tournament Golf - I played the hell out of this game, and I still believe it's one of the best golf games ever made. I thought it was awesome that the game saved the prize money you earned in tournaments, and also saved replays of your best shots/holes.
2. Castlevania - Never managed to beat it, but I enjoyed every second of playing it. And that music still gets stuck in my head from time to time.
3. Punch Out!! - The Mike Tyson version, not the crappy substitute featuring Mr. Dream.
4. Contra - Playing co-op with a friend remains one of my all time favorite multiplayer experiences.
5. Battletoads/Double Dragon - Basically ditto the above. Awesome co-op, hard as balls.
