What are your top 5 non-Mario NES games?

I've been rediscovering the greatness that is the NES lately, and it's been pretty awesome. It was my first console ever, and it's up there with the PS2 as my favorite.

What are your top 5 games for the system? I'm not including Mario so that we get some variation. Yes, SMB 1, 2, and 3 are timeless classics, but what else did you love?

Mine would probably be (in no particular order)

1. NES Open: Tournament Golf - I played the hell out of this game, and I still believe it's one of the best golf games ever made. I thought it was awesome that the game saved the prize money you earned in tournaments, and also saved replays of your best shots/holes.

2. Castlevania - Never managed to beat it, but I enjoyed every second of playing it. And that music still gets stuck in my head from time to time.

3. Punch Out!! - The Mike Tyson version, not the crappy substitute featuring Mr. Dream.

4. Contra - Playing co-op with a friend remains one of my all time favorite multiplayer experiences.

5. Battletoads/Double Dragon - Basically ditto the above. Awesome co-op, hard as balls.

Rad Racer 1- Wherein they race radically
Rad Racer 2- Wherein they race with a righteous attitude that one could call rad
Rad Racer 3- Wherein they race in a way which could be called rad, but is actually more cool
Rad Racer 4- Wherein they race your face off. Not rad, I know.
Rad Racer 5 -Wherein they race back to their roots. Rad roots.

Self-imposed difficulty: No major franchises

1. Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!
2. Bionic Commando
3. Battletoads (the 75% I've ever played)
4. Ducktales
5. RC Pro-Am

I think I'm pretty much onboard with this one, both including 1st party and excluding it.

EDIT: Hurts not to include Duck Tales though.

I know I'm going to be missing some, but off the top of my head (in no order):

Blaster Master
River City Ransom
Godzilla II
Skate or Die
Back to the Future
Captain Skyhawk
Marble Madness
Abadox

Sorry I picked 8 ><

While probably not the best games on the NES, they're definitely the most nostalgic, making them my favorite.

So much love for Ducktales lol I'm loving it

You know, I'm not entirely sure how defensible DuckTales is from a gameplay perspective; I honestly can't put my finger on why it's one of my favorite NES games. But something about it is just so cheerful. It's put me in a good mood every time I've played it since I was 12 years old.

It must be the music.

5 made my head hut so I did a 10 spot instead.

Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!!!

Legend of Zelda 1

Contra

Tecmo Bowl

Ninja Gaiden II

River City Ransom

Blaster Master

Mega Man 2/4

Jackal

Baseball

Honorable Mention

Vice: Project Doom

Super Spy Hunter

How the hell do so many lists NOT contain Bionic Commando???

Anyways,
1. BC
2. Ducktales
3. Shatter Hand
4. Mega Man 2
5. Legend of Zelda 1

EDIT: I would have included Contra, but that game is the reason I ended up with a 18"x12" hole in my wall and a broken NES Advantage :(

Legend of Zelda
Final Fantasy
Crystalis
Dragon Quest IV
Castlevania II: Simon's Quest

I want a modern Metroidvania structured like Simon's Quest: with a long, contiguous overworld littered with towns and castles/dungeons.
