Brushed aluminium would be ideal, but it'll never happen so glossy white is the one I wait for.
I say we use semi-gloss translucent aluminum. Star Trek all up in this!

Just black because all my home theatre equipment is black so I do not want a device to stick out. If it had to be different then I hope it is white.

That middle one is sliiiiick! I don't like the other blue, though. It's too plain. The only time I've ever liked primary or secondary colors on a gaming device was the Gameboy Pocket. Otherwise, I like tertiary colors. Something with a little more character and uniqueness.
Any one of those colours with a matte finish!
(Also, I have no idea if those are the proper terms for colors. I just looked it up online real quick, haha.)

Consoles: Black to match every damn TV and stereo system. Plus so it doesn't distract at night.
Handhelds: Anything. Black would be less eye catching which would make people more comfortable having it outside but making it a distinctive colour can help raise attention to it which the marketing team would be all for. Another purple handheld would be nice.

All the compact artsy cases have only led us to hotter, more failure-prone, and noisier consoles.
My ideal next-gen console would strongly resemble the TiVo Premiere. Big, silent rear fan and a simple front end.

I'd like a choice and not the limited editions or sales catalysts several years after lunch which has been happening. To answer the question, white, not piano black but the slightly less dust magnet one or 80s fake wood effect though really I just use the thing and forget.
You can go a step up; Spice Orangle (Japan & Korea only) modified to run the US BIOS (US/Japanese BIOS is a switch in the circuitry) which would actually be caring too much (I don't know why people despise that colour so much, I can still remember it being "we've got 4 controllers now so we can play smash bros but...one of them is spice orange")

I've always disliked the PS1's colour scheme, it's so drab. That charcoal black combined with the textured finish looks really nice though and would have made for a great default colour. The other colours are nice as well, are these Net Yaroze units?
I think transparent, two tone, and bold colors are all fun ideas. What if we went with the 360's faceplate? I think Nintendo could do well with the concept. They could make the a standard black matte system and have brightly colored art on faceplates. Kids and fanboys alike would go crazy.
