We were talking in a saturn thread and I mentioned how I wish I never got rid of virtua racing. So I went on ebay, found it was a fair price and bought one. Then I returned to the thread and people were warning me that it was bad!

Oh well played it anyway. Several hours, actually. It turns out that in my memory, I got this confused with the the 32x version, expecting this to have smooth performance. Well, it doesn't. It should really look and run better than it does. Kinda sad. But the good news is that it's a robust package for the time. I remembered that part correctly. The other sega racers really could have benefited from this treatment with the extra tracks and even new classes of cars.

Besides the borderline framerate and resolution, the game is pretty good. And by that I mean better than a lot of other stuff at the time. Definitely better than ridge racer. Maybe better than daytona with it's 3 tracks and 1 car. Better than need for speed. Better than Hi Octane (lol). The handling of virtua racing is like the missing link between outrun and daytona and I quite like it.

I'm playing SotC remaster and Assassin's Creed Origins on my PS4Pro. Still occasionally launching GTAO. Thinking of finishing my second playthrough of Dishonored 2. Left Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds for summer, cause in the cold evenings in Russia, where I'm living, it gets too real for me.

Nice. Assassin Creed will always be my childhood time's favorite game.

I think I've played Skyrim 3 or 4 times. Always put a lot of hours into each playthrough, but never finished any of the major quests.

Imo Bethesda's writting is kinda meh, which makes me get bored of the main quest of their games. But man, their games really shine when it comes to exploration, enviromental story telling and little crazy sidequests, like the one in Obliviok about going inside a painting. Hell, I think the exploration aspect was the sole reason I put 80 hours into Fallout 4.

As for the visuals, I think it's a mix of the overall visual design combined with how weird everyone looks and all that bloom that's all over the place. Gives the game a fairy tale vibe.

Finished River City Girls 2 (PC). Overall, not a bad game but damn, a lot of superfluous and fluff had the game down for me. Glitches, the sidequests, gimmicky boss fights, and respawning of enemies are what hurt my experience. At the end of the game, I was ready for it to be over. Tbh, I really wanted to love this game but I couldn't bring myself to love it. (7/10)

Action Taimanin (PC) - A waifu gacha game. The only reasons I like to play to this is because of mature waifus are actually my aesthetics and combat is somewhat decent. Everything else is either not that good or outright terrible. Namely monetization. Like holy shit, to have ONE fully max out character with an extra costume and ultra rare weapon is 84 fucking dollars. Absolutely disgusting. This is what makes me hate gacha games in general.

Astebreed (PC) - A really fun shmup. Very arcadey, short and sweet which I appreciate. Presentation is surprising really fucking good. Made me wished Platinum would have shmup in this style. (9/10)

Just finished the ARPG Dark Chambers on the Atari 7800, couch co-op with my daughter.

Currently playing The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard on my PC via Game Pass. Tried to play it years ago on GOG, but that port ran like crap and was buggy. This port seems solid. I'm on a quest to play all the Elder Scrolls games that I haven't played chronologicaly and Redguard is the first game in the series.

Almost finished with Pentiment and just started the final chapter.

Multiplayer:
Tons of Halo MCC multiplayer and a little Infinite multiplayer.
Finished the latest adventure in Sea of Thieves.
Grounded: Getting near the end game and getting all my stats and gear maxed out.

Im watching Chernobyl right now. Finally getting the bug to play Fallout 4 one of these days.

Game is great if you have the itch of exploring a cool post apocalyptic setting and shooting stuff up, while discovering locations and the stories that are told inside them via enviromental story telling.

If you have the itch of playing an actual RPG, you can do much better playing any other Fallout or Bethesda game.

Starfield is this year, so I probably don't need to play 2 Bethesda games this year lol. The list goes on and on. I just have way too much to play, always.

I first watched one of my buddies play the game on his Steam Deck during a flight back home, and I immediately adored the visual style and gameplay. A few days later, a sale for it came up, so I bought it with no hesitation and installed it on my own Deck.

Gameplay-wise I'd say it's like a combination of Jet Set Radio and Max Payne, with the addition of risk-reward timing and combo mechanics. Which is to say, right up my alley.

I hear ya man. I'm in the middle of Dragon Quest XI, and a new Yakuza game is less than a month away. February is going to be crazy, it'll probably take me more than half of the year just to beat all the cool games that are being released next month.

Oh and I also wanted to dive into Monster Hunter Rise and do a replay of Dragon's Dogma, but I guess that'll have to wait.

Still going through Greedfall: Gold Edition (XSX), 24 hours in. I'm about 5 quests away from beating the game. Looking forward to beating it and will definitely go for all the achievements at some point. Ideally I want to beat it before Friday so that I can start Dead Space nice and fresh.

I loved Pillars of Eternity 1. It made me read books again but the game itself is fantastic imo.

Finished Doom 3. Final boss was a massive let down. 4 hits with the razor cube and he was done. Overall game was pretty good. The levels could be confusing sometimes, with it's maze like structure, and your main goals boiling down to finding the right person to talk to or a pda so you could unlock another door and get lost again. Gun play was excellent. Great atmosphere. Nightmarish and creepy. Sometimes it really felt like you were stuck in hell with no way out. ID nailed those parts which made me see it to the end.

I really like the Dragon Quest games, they are pretty simple to play but I find them very fun thanks to how charmful everything is and the fast pace of the stories you find along the way.
I also welcome the extra challenge provided by the draconian quest, always enjoy preparing and coming up with an strategy for a difficult boss fight.

Probably the best casino machine I've ever seen in a videogame too.

Hi Fi Rush, go play it, it's incredible, it's like a DMC Rhythm game that gets better and better as you learn new moves and get to grips with the mechanics & the bosses are excellent.

& Some Monster Hunter Rise, play this too if you haven't already, it's video game cocaine.

Finished Call of Cthulhu. Played it once before on Switch but wanted to platinum it so got it on PS4. I'm a huge fan of H.P Lovecraft so it feels really good having two well made AA games based on his work so close to each other (the other being Sinking City). Call of Cthulhu is very good, keeping it close to the source material while forging on with new a new story and characters. The investigation elements of the game is the best, but the story and characters are pretty solid too. Good writing overall with excellent voice acting across the board.

I started DQXI a few days ago. Despite playing dozens upon dozens of JRPGs, I've never played a Dragon Quest game. I can see why it has a rep of being 'babby's first RPG' because of how simple everything is, but the design is really cohesive. Adventure is quick and colorful, and individual elements have just enough wrinkles to keep things from being too plain. I'm having a good time.

I want to believe that with the release onto Sony's digital store, it'll come to PC eventually too. Physical market for this game is pretty crazy though, yeah. It was a limited release back in 2000, so the price isn't surprising.

No, I don't think I will play the expansion. Base game was enough for me. Delta Labs was pretty confusing at times, I admit. It was a great area though, in terms of exploration. I liked the starting area too, with the research facilities. The only areas I didn't like was Hell itself, and the CPU processing areas in the end, mostly due to bullshit they were with enemies spawning left and right constantly. It felt pretty cheap, and not very balanced difficulty wise.

Glad to read you are enjoying it mate. Make sure to check the Nintendo DS remakes of IV, V and VI at some point, they are solid JRPGs and V must be one of my favorites.

Beat the first boss in HiFi Rush and got access to the hideout. Rhytm games aren´t really my thing but this has been quite the surprise. It´s very fun, very skill dependent and it has a lot of good music in it. The cel shaded graphics are beautiful, very colorful and pleasing for the eyes, and I love the fast paced nature of the game. Everything you do syncs to the beat, from combos to special attacks, dodging and jumping. It kinda reminds me of film director Edgar Wright who did similar things in his movies Scott Pilgrim and Baby Driver. He edited the films to always sync up with the soundtrack, which made the movies very unique. HiFi Rush plays in a similar way. Tango really shows what a versatile studio they are, I have a hard time believing they made it since I associate them with spooky horror games and this is so far from it it makes my head spin. As many have said on the forum, HiFi Rush seems like something that could release for the Dreamcast in its heydays, it has a lot of that charm and creativity that Sega showed off during that time.
