What games have you struggled to get into?

Final Fantasy <insert #>. I managed to play, finish and enjoy X way back, but ever since then I buy and hate the rest (12, 15, 7RM). Such nonsensical and poor stories, environments, writing, characters, etc.

Horizon Zero
Control
Death Stranding.

Got all 3 over Christmas ended up playing other stuff instead after closing a few hours in them. Zero only did 1 hour LOL

God of War (PS4). It just felt like a never-ending quest on how to open doors. I fully admit to not getting very far in the game, but I just got so tired of puzzle after puzzles and not much fighting that I called it quits.

Persona 4 Golden - I keep forgetting how bad Chie's voice actress is. I start it up, "it can't be that bad!" MY TRIAL OF THE... DRAGOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!! Aaaand, I'm out until my next attempt a year later.

Fresh off loving Chrono Trigger, I'm trying to get into Chrono Cross and it's just not working. I couldn't really tell you why, but there's something about games of the PS1/N64 generation that make them really hard to get into these days - much harder than SNES games on the one hand and PS2 games on the other.

Download the undub if you're playing on Vita (or I guess just switch the language on PC?), it makes the game much more bearable (though Teddy's voice actor is somehow just as bad in Japanese, especially as he constantly screeches at you in combat).

Persona 3 - too boring and the dungeons are awful, I never played Persona 4 and 5, maybe they're better.
Metro Exodus put me to sleep and I really liked the first two Metro games, what a disappointment.
Battle Royale games - going around looking for weapon for a lot of time in a big map and then getting killed from people that most the time you can't even spot is not my idea of fun.
DMC5, I have never been a fan of this series.
Another one is Monster hunter world.

JRPGS

I beat chrono trigger last week and loved that game but I wonder if it's a bit of an unicorn since I have tried with other JRPGs and they have

Too many random encounters
Extreme Grinding
Anime and cringe worthy dialogue up the ass

There's a reason why final fantasy remaster let you speed combat or avoid these encounters, they drag the game down a lot.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife

Agree. I've only beaten two Final Fantasy games, I and IV. All the other ones I've tried felt like a slog and ended up boring me pretty quickly.

Imo there are far better franchises, like Dragon Quest and SMT.

Any MMO they just overwhelm me and I've no idea wtf I'm doing

And metro 2033 I've tried a few times to get into it and always turn it off within an hour or so and never go back.

Gonna try again soon but idk what it is I just give up.

Every single Monster Hunter game. I buy most of them, play each for a week before giving up. I SHOULD like it and think the next one will be THE one. Nope. I'm sure ill buy Rise and do the same shit. I'm sick.

Horizon ZD. I don't know, can't get into it. I think that it may be that the main character is so boring and plain to me. I just don't care about her.

I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
The Last Of Us. Interesting world and story, most boring gameplay

World of Warcraft. I've started/stopped playing numerous times, each time ending with me bored. I can't even be bothered to try the latest expansion (although I am giving FFXIV a go).

If you didn't like wow then you ain't gonna like FFXIV. Its a japenese version of wow with forced story.

Virtua Fighter, first time i tried it was VF4, as a Tekken player i heard back then about VF was very played and respected in Japan, and even more than Tekken, and about its reputation that it was a very great and deep fighting game, from the look it really didn't looked that great to me back then, bought VF4 played it few a hours and still didn't get the appeal of it, i mean sure it was good but not that good, then i dropped the game.

1 year later VF4 Evo was release, and i bought it again, there was a new mode called Quest mode, and that was a really cool mode, especially for new players to understand how VF and the mecanics of the game works, to this day Quest mode is my favorite Solo mode in any fighting game, started slowly understanding the game and enjoying more and more, and much more once i found a character that i really love with all my heart, of course i'm talking about my BOI, my Grandpa, Aka Shun Di one of my favorite character of all time. VF became then one of my favorite franchise ever and i can't wait for the next VF i'm too HORNYYYY to play Shun again, SEGA HURRY UP!!!!

Here's a video of some of my early online VF5FS plays:

Witcher 3. Combat is so bad and overall I don't like slavic mythology so I found it utter borefest. And fuck me the map is just waaayyy too large imo.
I feel ya, same for me. I don't mind the mythology and liked the story but I really didn't like the combat and the world environment felt a bit 1 note, windy (at least in the first main area).

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

I’ve played countless hours of SSB, SSBM, but when SSBB cane out I played for like 15-20 hours and pretty much gave up on it, sold that game. SSB4 was fun but I didn’t own a Wii U or the game; played at a friend’s house. SSBU is excellent

SSBB was the only one I didn’t enjoy for some reason

I don't play fighting games anymore, but like many gamers in the 90s, the key ones were SF, MK, Tekken and VF. And for 16 bit purists the vast number of Neo Geo fighters most people never played unless they hung out in arcades. You also had KI and Soul Edge kinds of games.

Personally, VF had good graphics, but it seemed really boring. The move sets, action and sound were so sleepy. All other games had characters really smacking each other with bone crunching hits and combos. And the music in SF and Tekken games were awesome too.

It's like VF is Excel and the other games are Powerpoint. You read how VF purists claim it's such a deeper hardcore fighting game. I have no clue if that's true ot not. but if I had to choose, I'd choose the other ones. Just more fun. If I had to pick a fighting game and play them, I'd probably choose either old school SF or Tekken games.

If I’m honest, I would say I’m having trouble with everything I play.
Are you an aging gamer?

The Witcher 3

I'm a fan of the series (read all the books), but this game feels like a chore to play, at the beginning at least. The controls are too clunky and the open world feels overwhelming since the traversal is not enjoyable.

After beating every assassins creed game. Something about Origins doesn’t work for me, and I haven’t even started Odyssey so I pretty much ignored the most recent one. It was one of my favorites but origins just felt out of place and too long.

Horror games. It's bad. Baby bad. Like the only one I can seem to play was RE4. I'd sooner purchase a horror game and watch someone play through it. The older I get the worse I get this way lol.
Maybe I should try out one of them new fangled horror visual novels all the hip kids are playing?

Strategy RPGs. Uhg..... maybe one day. They all feel way too time consuming and I just don't have that. I'd need a pick up and play type with a good story and art that appeals to me. Probably not an easy task.

Anyone have a few good recommendations for either?

The Witcher games. Monster Hunter World and Destiny 2 spring to mind. I tried them all. Couldn't get more than a few hours in on any of them. Not even that on Monster Hunter.

Pillars of Eternity.
Game checks all the boxes for my interests and I just can't seem to get past all the walls of text. I get bogged down and end up switching to some other game. Then I've forgotten everything including controls when I get back to it.
