What Is After Metroid?

Nintendo normally reveals its spring time lineup around now and I was thinking, outside of Brain Training what in the world are they going to release? I mean after Tetris/Metroid(outside of the two brain trainings) I can't think of a single title they plan to release in USA april-june. Normally they have like 3-4 titles a month. There is no way stuff like Mario and Zelda will be out in time so what in the world is NOA going to release? Am I somehow overlooking something?

Well from Feb 27th to May 30th, Nintendo are releasing Super Princess Peach, Pokemon Trozei, Metroid Prime: Hunters, Tetris DS, Brain Age and Big Brain Academy. Given that that's not Q4 or a launch, I'm not really seeing any sort of shortage in titles.

Unless you mean all Nintendo games. In which case there's just Odama too in that timeframe I believe, which is pretty damn bad for the GBA and GC. But they're systems at the end of their life, it's no great surprise.

No no no. I know the march games. I mean JUST April-June. Of which is their spring lineup, not Q1. Normally regardless of the month Nintendo has 3-4 titles a month published by them in USA. And Nintendo should be annoucing april-june soonish knowing their schedule. All I am saying is what in the world do they have to fill the april-june slot? Two brain training games is just two games. Nintendo has a bunch of games each month, I just cant figure out what in the world they will be.

The Spring looks pretty full honestly (Brain-Age, Pokemon Trozei, Big Brain Academy plus NOA likely wants to give Tetris DS and Metroid Hunters some prime shelf life). There's some prime canidates for this summer though...

-Pokemon Dungeon: Blue Rescue Force (Chunsoft)
-Children of Mana (Square Enix/NEX)
-Dragon Quest Monsters: Slime Knights (Square Enix/TOSE)
-Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Quiz (Alphadream)
-Puzzloop DS (Mitchell)
-Jam with the Band (Nintendo EAD)
-Game Fortune Bag (Nintendo EAD)
-More Brain Training (Nintendo EAD)

...I've heard rumors that Atlus USA is bringing over Ouendan (iNiS) as well. :)

Not too long ago we didn't know about Tetris. DS and GBA games don't take that long to make so they usually aren't announced half a year in advance.

I'm scared of an english Ouendan... Almost think they would have to start from the ground up. They'll probably use different songs, which means different patterns on screen. Assuming they use decent songs, the US version would probably be more like a sequel than a port or translation. I wonder if they'll even keep all the storylines the same.

My guess would be the JP songs but translate the manga panels to English, and just give it a really limited printrun.

What would they call it in America? "Super All Male Cheerleading Power"?

If they want it to sell here, they could make the girls be easy/normal/hard and the guys very hard (don't read anything into that sentence).

Or they could just use this commercial

I think there's actually a series of these commercials. Perfect for Ouendan. :D

1) I sincerely doubt a US version of Ouendan will have the Japanese songs.
2) Nintendo hasn't announced their Q2 lineup yet. That's all that's going on here. The firming up of stuff like Brain Age is very probably being done now as a runup to DICE, where Reggie's talk will concern "expanding the market" and such.

Maybe they're just going to take the summer off? Come on... they had a good run. It'll give me a chance to catch up on DS games as it is. I haven't even gotten to touch Mario and Luigi yet.

Maybe Sony is going to paying them to not release some titles in order to let the PSP shine for a little while? Sort of like how the government pays some farmers to NOT grow certain crops.

After Metroid is a top secret Revolution fishing game starring Samus and taking place after the universe has been completely rid of metroids and there's nothing else to do. The motion sensing controller will be used to directly manipulate the grappling beam, which is now a fishing hook.

This is all real, right?

:D

And even though Ouendan will be coming here, I think I just might import it anyway. You know, just for the sake of safety, assuming the game does not translate well to the US.

I think they are pretty well set for the lead up to E3 in terms of DS releases. The Cube and GBA are pretty much dead at this point. I'm sure E3 will bring some new surprises for May-July.

I really would like to see that Kirby game for the Cube. Oh, and Ouendan would be great too!

Also isn't the GBA supposed to get a couple more FF rehashes?

Yeah. The GBA has a few things coming up -- it's still getting Mother 3, Final Fantasy V Advance, Final Fantasy VI Advance, Yggdra Union, and I'd say a few more SNES-ports (Chrono Trigger, SOM, Super Mario RPG, for instance) are no-brainers.

What are these games?

I'd be happy if Atlus brought over Ouendan. They publish a lot of quirky games. I doubt that they would want the soundtrack to be changed.

Speaking of Metroid I would love another 2D incarnation. Metroid has one thing no other franchise can say, is there hasn't been a BAD game. Sure you can dislike a certain one in there series or maybe Hunters will not have been greatly improved and that will be the black sheep. But when I see Metroid I see a quality ass game and would love another one to play.

Dunno about the other one, but Puzzloop's gameplay is like a game I've played called Zuma. Although, I assume that it's based on another game. The gameplay in Zuma was where you aimed a launcher with the mouse, and fire colored balls. There are a line of balls headed towards a pit, and you have to clear all of the balls before it reaches by clearing the balls, by say, launching a green ball at two green balls to clear them. It's a pretty fun game.

Metroid Dread!

Yeah, even Metroid Pinball was excellent.

Metroid Pinball was great. I wasn't expecting to play so well. Definetly a worth addition.

Late to the Party

These are all American releases? Or just Japanese

TAO comes here next month via Konami and I think UbiSoft is doing Lost Magic here in America?

But if Children of Mana and Slime MoriMori (that's what the JPN name for Slime Knights is?) are coming to America

Puzzloop is a Mitchell made puzzle game, similar to Zuma. Capcom USA published a version on PSone last gen.

GFB is suppossedly the western title for Daredemo Azobi Taisen.

Slime Morimori actually translates to Slime Forest. Slime Knights just sounds like a more appropriate english title I think.

Why wouldn't Children of Mana be released here? Every game in the series besides Seiken Densetsu 3 has so far.

And in an unsurprising shocking turn of events, Seiken Densetsu 3 happens to be the best in the series!

:lol

I guess that's true, but I've never actually played through it (just played co-op with a friend a few times), so Seiken Densetsu 2 is still my favorite.

Also, didn't they not release it here because SNES was almost dead or something? THe DS is just getting started.

Wait a minute. Jarrod, are you saying that Slime Morimori 2 has been confirmed for a USA release? I've never heard any officiall announcement on the matter. Is this something you just heard or is it reliable information?

As you can tell, I've been really wanting this game over here, so if this is true, then hell yeah.

Only thing more that could make me happy is Capcom bringing over the rest of Phoenix Wright over here.

Yep... but I meant the original version. Shinyaku is pretty assy.

It's a "credible" rumor going right now.

Just sit tight until the end of the quarter, that is when the next batch of titles will be announced. Nintendo doesn't want to shift focus just yet.
