I'm 45. Just re-joined to GAF. The first time I joined here was before 360/PS3 were released, to read the latest rumors.

Poll added.

Kind of wanted to do spots for cuspers, but felt like it might get too middling.

I feel like the split left many middle aged people here, while the young and impressionable moved on, and will come back later.
Last one should be 1997-2005

We ain't outta here in ten minutes, we won't need no rocket to fly through space
'92. Happy to be part of the last wave of kids who grew up without iPhones and in a time when the internet was still a primitive wasteland.

Find it kinda funny that as a grandparent / great grandparent I'm going to seem ancient being born in the 1900s.

Millennial, but I feel like that's totally out of touch with who I am versus most. Granted I was born in 83 so I'm nearly on the borderline, but being that I was a teenager before things like the Internet and Mobile phones it feels like there is a disconnect between myself and those that are millennials that actually never knew a time before that. Things like social media are also entirely weird concepts to me; I have facebook but I can't understand how anyone makes any sense of Reddit, I don't know how twitter works nor understand wtf its, don't use Instagram and have never understood things like Snapchat. Many of my friends of the same age also have no idea what that Is or the appeal of it, so to say I'm a 'millennial' feels weird as what most millennials just seem to be intertwined into theirs lives as part and parcel of daily living is totally alien to me.

I really thought we had an older crowd over here based on this dicourse, but the poll shows me I’m wrong.

Perhaps I have misjudged mid 20s kids based on the shithead I once was, instead of the people they could be.

I’m proud that most discussions stay so civil, I know I wasn’t so cooth when I was that age.

To be fair, the millennial bracket as you’ve listed it in the poll includes people up to 38 years old.

45 here, born 1973.

I still love games as much as I did as a kid. I still love shooters, sports games, racing games, and JRPGs. I'm even a proud VR owner. But when I read the latest SJW gaming controversy....

26. I'm not gonna trip over myself to explain how I'm not a true millennial because it's a dumb stereotype I don't use on others.

Born in 1981. That puts me somewhere.

I'd be interested to see what the age spread is in the millennial category.

One thing this poll clearly shows is that GAF is not the place where young people to escape grownups. Just grownups escaping other grownups. :D

Super interesting thread and poll. It would be good to sticky this to get a more comprehensive sample of active posters.

It seems that my intuition is right, GAF skews clearly older, which does align with the more constructive style of discussion here.

39 here (May of 79 so just made the Gen X cut off)

im betting most of the crowd that left for RE were zoomers and on the younger side of millenials.

32, going on 33 in march

Zoomers do not give a single fuck about forums. They are a dead technology to them.

Nope they have the same demographics as us. Mostly millennial, plenty of Gen Xers, then barely any zoomers.

Thinking about being born in 78-81..

PC's were a thing for rich kids/families..or that single never married uncle who played Leisure Suit Larry on his Tandy..
I didnt get a PC/Online till 2000... 21 years old lol

Had beepers! $30 a month lol Was a mandatory method for every weed dealer in highschool lol
No Cell Phones. I didnt have one till I was about 23. When you went outside...you were GONE.
Had a cordless phone, would take it with me in my buddies car. Had to make a call? We would pull into my driveway just enough so it would connect to my phone line.
Had my own phone in my room tho! 267-2990 (Go ahead, call it...ask for me from 1996 lol) Blast your favorite song, hit record on your answering machine...10 seconds of music, then turn it down and say "Hey, not here, leave a message" turn music back up..

Freshman year, what new albums..Wu-Tang!! First Snoop Album! Tool drops Undertow! Nas drops Illmatic in 94!!
Remembe bringing Nirvanas Nevermind album to school in 7th gradeand people laughing saying "Eww, theres a babys dick on the cover!"

Head to a highschool motel party..
Somebody brought this "thing" called a Playstation!? HOURS AND HOURS of being 16 in a motel room with 30 other people drinking St. Ides and playing Wipeout.
Dont get me started on some one bringing a muti-tap elbow and the NBA 4 player fights at a party..

It was a good time..
That change from child to young adult in 1991-1993..
Technology was at the cusp of taking off and didnt hit till we were 18-21..
Hair metal died just as you 'discovered' music and you had grunge, 120 minutes bringing you Sonic Youth or the Pixies, Rap music moved from Hammer to Wu-Tang, Biggie, Nas, etc..
No 9/11, no 1000 channels of a media blitz, no porn on demand (The 'finding porn in the woods' is a REAL thing!)

I feel like us born in this time frame had the last, and one of the best, childhoods..

Turning 38 in September. Born 1981. I feel like life is only getting better the older I get. I´m at a very good place now in life after having gone through some struggles in my early and late 20s. I´m also thankful to being born in the 80s as I have seen almost the entire video game industry grow to what it has become today. It has been a pretty wild ride with some amazing tech innovations and revolutionary games.

51, born in 1967, the first electronic device I owned was a handheld am radio. I don’t identify with any generation, I’m very much my own thing. I’m glad I got to have my younger days before the division between men and women got so bad. We used to really like each other!

38, born in '80. I feel pretty privileged at being around to experience both pre- and post-internet eras.
