What's wrong with the game?
It's like, they decided to up the sexines to draw people's attention, and somewhere near release they've changed their minds and slowlly started altering all their character models.

First they Censored Cammy's Opening pose. They just move the camera away from her crotch, to be just out of frame. This change happened between beta tests.

Ok... I guess it's acceptable.

In the same beta, they censored R. Mika's Iconic butslap, along with the way she finishes off her opponent. The butslap thingy got out of frame, and they no longer hold the oponent's leg.

That Super was so iconic of her in the trailer, I find bafling if they thoght that nobody would notice.

Then we see these final minute changes on Juri's model. All artwork, both in and out of story, pointed at an open torso, and when she actually got revealed, we see they sloppily painted that part of her skin black to look like a leather torso underneath that biker suit.

This goes again's the game's own crappy story art where her original design is visible.

Finally, in the most recent patch, we see them ironing out Cammy's nipples. That final changed occured in an update after the character got released.

Unlike another certain censorship happened recently, Nobody asked for this!
Was it keep the sexyness exclusive to DLC costumes, or to rise PC moding awearness?
This is the same game with an indian stereotype spiting "yoga fire", a idiot bear-wresting Rusian, and an America walking stereotype for Amerikan marines among other things.
The game's image being as bad as it is, there was no need to add censorship to the mix!

Why deal with groups hating you when you can avoid it easily. It's not a big deal.

We've also gone over this way too many times.

As much as I don't like the stupid "censorship" semantic arguments that tend to be used as a smoke screen for topics like this—obscuring the actual issue—"censorship" really doesn't apply here for a lot of these, I think.

So youre more bothered by the "censorship" than how cringey the designs are in the first place? Got it.

Ah, I see they took some pages out of Nintendo's book.

Friendly reminder for the 2000000th time that a company deciding on their own volition to change something is not censorship.

I am not familiar with SF5 scene but has this successfully provided a resurgence in local tournaments and scenes / offline play at grassroots level etc. Last I heard the sales were below expectations.

The game is succeeding competitively, if that's what you're asking.

I don't know why this has to be repeatedly stated. Nothing is being censored when a company decides to make a change to their own product.

Self-censorship is a thing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-censorship

(and it's usually for the better as you realize over time that something you thought was OK at first is really in fact dumb)

While this is obviously a real usage of the word, it's an asinine usage because the term implies a sinister or strongarm situation requiring the change. There's no difference between "self-censorship" and simply making a creative choice.

Despite Juri being intended as she is in the artwork, the latex is an aesthetic choice and allows for some pretty rad costumes with the contrasting colors

The narrative that they just "colored her skin" is annoying as fuck, it's latex. You can see the cut of the the shirt on her neck

"Censored" as though they put a cloud of purple smoke around her torso

5200 entrants for SFV alone at this years EVO tourney

Veiwership for Twitch Live event exceeded 220K live viewers as of the grand finals.

Im pretty sure it did it's job.

Also in regards to the censorship...I dont see anything wrong with it. They can adjust the game however they like.

I honestly like Juri's censor/edit much more than the initial design. We have seen that "zipped down torso" design so many times like The Boss, Lollipop Chainsaw etc. The new design looks much more unique.

They are afraid of online shitstorms and americas weird fear of anything remotely sexual and rather proactively change their stuff.

I wonder who is responsible for these changes. And by that I mean which "person" exactly. Would be interesting to hear their thoughts on this stuff.
