Whore of the Orient gameplay footage leaked

Reading alot of responses ITT reminds me why 99% of the time we get no real insight into the development process of games. Obviously not finished, specifically mentioned as leaked WIP trailer that nobody outside the company is meant to see -> omg the animations, the aliasing etc.

Sadness.
THIS.

The target release date is 2015 people. Calm down, jesus.

Have 0 faith in team bondi especially after the shit the head guy pulled after lanoir.

That game only turned out as well as it did because of rockstar.

I can forgive the early animations e.t.c since it is alpha , but no way do I trust them to make a decent game and on budget now that rockstar jumped ship.

Plus don't think mums and dads will want to buy there child a game called whore of the orient, sounds like a porn movie.

borghe

Loves the Greater Toronto Area
aside from the god awful frame rate and pretty basic animations, it looks like exactly what I'd expect (and wanted). If the animations were bumped up and frame rate brought up to at least 30fps, it looks like it would have been every bit as good as Getaway and LA Noire.

so sad :(

The Getaway says you are wrong. There is definitely talent there.. but yeah, McNamera is a dick, even if he can direct incredible games.

Okay people seem to be somewhat confused and/or trolling in here, so let me clear some things up. First, Whore of the Orient is being developed by a few of the previous developers that worked for Team Bondi. This is a development team at Australian studio Kennedy Miller Mitchell (KMM) who previously worked on LA Noire, thus the similarities.

Whore of the Orient has been in flux for some time, with last known details back in May that revealed KMM received more funding for the title, and that it would be next-gen.
Whore of the Orient is a detective thriller based in 1936 which is apparently set to use the Depth Analysis mechanic that LA Noire used to allow for high-quality acting visuals.

Shanghai, 1936. Whore of the Orient. Paris of the East. The most corrupt and decadent city on the planet, where anything can be had or done for the right price. Plaything of Western powers who greedily exploit the Chinese masses. Boiling pot of Chinese nationalism, with the Kuomintang ruthlessly trying to suppress Communism and the labour movement. Home to the International Police Force, a group of Western cops hopelessly trying to keep the lid on and keep the peace.
Currently only one single screenshot has been seen besides this leaked footage, and details are still very slim. What you are seeing there is very pre-alpha footage I presume, so really there is no need to be stupid about the graphics or the performance.

I really love the setting and time period of this. Footage looks rough, but I'm not surprised considering it was leaked. Really hope this comes together in the end and turns out well.

I basically want it to be a 25 hour game based on the first 10 minutes of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
Including musical pieces.

Now we have 2 more screenshots... I wasn't bothered to upload them before.

Looks rough, but that is understandable at this stage. I just hope it eventually sees the light of day. I absolutely love L.A. Noire and want more from these guys.

Love the settings, love the martial arts style. Hard to judge the graphics this far out, but that video is fairly underwhelming in the animation department in particular.

Clearly unfinished, hard to take away much from this aside from the look they're going for which has potential - that washed out 70's cinema feel is underrepresented in gaming.

Fuck Bondi for assuming that people know what it means.
Would you care to explain what it means?

It sounds dreadful enough that I haven't wanted to check any screens or footage.
I appreciate that they're doing a period piece, but wallowing in pejoratives seems unnecessary.

Gameplay looks like boring generic open world stuff and remembers me of LA Noire. Was probably still very early though.
But like LA Noire, the setting is awesome.

LOVE the setting. Kinda unfortunate that gameplay-wise, even when it gets polished up the ass, it seems like Sleeping Dogs with cover-based shooting. Why do so many people in that city have guns?!

Very clear it was nowhere near done from the lack of animations. People thinking that the game would have shipped in that state are kidding themselves, lol. I think it would have been a solid title, if not a bit redundant at this point. I think the setting and atmosphere is the strongest thing about it so far.

Not bad, the city and environment looks pretty cool, I am still excited for the title, of course this is an early build, so tons of work to do with the combat, the gun battles, the animation, .....etc, but this may end up being something really good.
