Why do men still have to shave?

Yet men still seem limited to razors.

Is there a particular reason why things are so limited? I imagine moustache waxing would be bloody painful, but the rest of your face might be ok. I'd love to have a treatment that could be done every few weeks rather than every day.

It's about convenience. Most men don't want to take any further steps because shaving gets the job done. It's not a stretch to say that women care more in this regard so they take greater measures. All those options you listed above are also available to men.

Sure, if you have a completely unmaintained beard that you never wash, you might look like a hobo or worse. It's not hard to grow a beard and not look homeless, even if it isn't a good beard.

Women don't usually change their minds about hair on their body as often as men do, and it's generally not stylish or acceptable to have body hair for women. Men can totally laser if they want, but it's expensive and painful to get it on a place as sensitive as your face.

We're not limited to shaving, everything you suggested that are options for ladies are also options for us guys. Its just shaving is cheaper and less permenant /painful of an option than most.

I personally trim, shaving is not my thing.

I've shaved my face around three, maybe four times per year since 2010 or so. Mostly because of unsalvageable mishaps due to not setting the proper lenght on my trimmer or being a bit too agressive with the razor when doing my cheekbones. That comic perfectly reflects my feelings. I'm just like "nope, I'm not shaving again".

Creams-You have to be careful for chemical burns, but these are more for your arms, legs, and chest which men don't normally groom.

Electrolysis-Expensive and effectiveness varies. Mostly permanent.

Waxing-Again, mostly for body and limb usage which men don't bother with.

Electric things that pull your hairs out- I can use these if I want. I don't want to though.

You make multiple passes using different angles and it gets as close as you can get without pulling the follicles out/ dissolving them.

I can shave everyday but I grow hair out slowly so its every other day for me.

The biggest advantage for me is that I get zero irritation(after developing some form), and I also like that the safety razor can take off 5 days growth with the same number of passes as if it was an everyday shave. I always had razor burn with electric/ cartridge. Baby Smooth is real

To answer OP's question: Most of the alternatives to shaving are usually done in salons, are painful as fuck, and aren't really things you want to do to your face. Men who shave their arms/legs/chests still use nair, waxing, etc. There's nair for men.

Electrolysis is done on both genders, but it's true that it's marketed more towards women.
