Video game knights feel they have more credit for being Japanese while posting on GFAQS.

Or NeoGAF.

Japan is pretty cool, taking Japanese classes I've definitely met some people who are a little bit off but most of the people I've met seem alright.

I wouldn't mind living there if I could get a good job but I think the same about any of them scandinavian nations. I don't know what it is that makes people want to be Japanese but I know that whenever I lie about myself on the internet it's to give myself greater credibility and/or coolness. True Story.

Stop being so sundere baka gaijins.

I don't know what any of those words mean

Stop being so sundere baka gaijins.

I don't know what any of those words mean

Tsundere - initially cold and hostile, graduaally warming

baka - "stupid, idiot"

gaijin - "foreigner"

What is yandere and tsundere?

Tsundere - see above

yandere - initially very loving, caring, and gentle to someone, eventually becomes mentally destructive in nature, often through violence and/or brutality.

What are the perks? I don't understand.

I may or may not be drunk.

because on some "gaming" circles its cool to live on japan or be from there,i worked on japan for two years and know some of these people

btw japan wasnt a pleasant experience for me,yeah games, tech yadayada but i found that people there were very racist and dont socialize too much,my broken english cant explain the things i have experienced there, japan was cool as a tourist if you spend two weeks on akibahara or the tipical stuff, but living there, working there makes you see the innars of their society and the big problems they will have on the future

I think there was some one on IGN who pretended to be Japanese for years but was eventually discovered.

To answer your question: no one can see who you are on the internet, so people create totally new personas. Not sure if pretending to be Japanese is so common that it's an epidemic though. Pretending to be girls however, there's your money maker.

Wasn't there some guy on GAF who did the same and got exposed because of Gamefly?

Japanese culture is immensely interesting and borderline alien in nature due to isolation from the rest of the world. I think a lot of people gravitate to it since it is so fascinating and unique.

So you have ethnic moral authority when you ask questions about Japanese internment camps being the biggest screw up of American "justice".

But Korean culture was more isolated. The country was very closed until the 88 Olympics

They were really behind technology wise circa ww2 till they started making cars & electronics and boom now they are cutting edge

Gomenasai, my name is Ken-Sama
I'm a 27 year old American Otaku (Anime fan for you gaijins). I draw Anime and Manga on my tablet, and spend my days perfecting my art and playing superior Japanese games. (Disgaea, Final Fantasy, Persona series)

I train with my Katana every day, this superior weapon can cut clean through steel because it is folded over a thousand times, and is vastly superior to any other weapon on earth. I earned my sword license two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.

I speak Japanese fluently, both Kanji and the Osaka dialect, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about Japanese history and their bushido code, which I follow 100%

When I get my Japanese visa, I am moving to Tokyo to attend a prestigious High School to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become an animator for Studio Ghibli or a game designer!

I own several kimonos, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to Japan, so I can fit in easier. I bow to my elders and seniors and speak Japanese as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.

Also, I am not an expert, but isn't saying "I speak Kanji" like saying "I speak letters"?

And what can the average American tell you about Korean culture? There are a lot of aspects of Japanese culture that immediately comes to mind: samurais, ninjas, sushi, swords, geishas, kimonos, martial arts, sumo, etc.

Do you have a version-up form? Do you live with your uncle? Are your parents always away from home? How many times have you ran late somewhere while holding a slice of toast in your mouth?

Japanese pretenders just shot themselves in the foot.

I don’t know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I’m an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It’s not like it is on the internet where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you pretend to be Japanese on the internet, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the Japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to have anything to do with the people emulating them online. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Weeaboos have alienated an entire market with this move.

Pretenders, publicly apologize and admit that you're not really Japanese or you can kiss that study abroad program in Tokyo goodbye.

Japan is so passé, Kpop is becoming the new nerd hotness. The internet has already been taken over by hordes of SNSD fanatics and now Gangnam Style has taken it mainstream.

Angel warrior or something like that?

Yep, "AngelSoldier" in the thread ": Internment Camps: The biggest screw up of American "'Justice ?'" located here: http://neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=34863812&postcount=227

Ok, GAF, you got AngelSoldier.

This will be my final post under this guise, this IP Address, and on this forum.

For 12 years I have browsed and utilized the web. It is a dangerous place, no doubt, I mean we hear about a new hacking scandal damn near everyday. In all this time, I have gone through about 23 different persona's, and I must admit that this is the first time it has come back to bite me. In the end nothing changes, GAF will go on, I will go on, my identity remains unknown, the whole thing works out for me.

I never could understand the idea of throwing your real self out on the net anyways, FaceBook, Myspace, Social networking sites in general, never used em'. But my mistake with AngelSoldier was forums. GAF in specific immediately try's to take away a layer of protection by demanding a non-free Email, luckily I asked a friend to use his. Ah wells, that should get me a permanent ban right there, hopefully. A valuable lesson ! But that's ok, one doesn't need to "talk" about games to enjoy them.

You know, when I first found GAF I had never intended to post. I was just amazed at how often GAF had news before some of the major Video Game websites. Something got the better of me, and I felt like being social. Ah wells, never again, or perhaps again only much more tight lipped.

Anywho, I apologize for nothing. Nobody was hurt, lessons were learned, time was wasted. I Regret nothing, some talks were fun, some trolling was fun, and some posts on GAF were absolutely hilarious to read. All in all, GAF was fun, but nothing I'll miss. If I want, I'll just proxy my way here now and then, to go over some OT's and browse some news.

And now, you are left to wonder how many others wander the net, or GAF in specific, spewing all kinds of bullshit about who or what they are. The numbers are dizzying I imagine.

I will say though, I know for a fact that I am not the only AngelSoldier out there. So don't go hunting them all down, they didn't bother you or GAF for that matter.

One thing though:

This is harassment or at least border line harassment. Random messages/friend requests (with ill intent) that can be traced back to GAF will be treated as such. But hopefully, a bunch of adults are beyond that and I won't have to resort to such things.

AngelicMeteor is actually a persona I stole from an old XBL friend after he changed his GT. So it may not always be me !

Goodbye, GAF.

I'll admit, I thought this and Kitsune (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=5428579&postcount=93) is what the thread was about and I have to admit I was always curious as to why the pretended to be Japanese in the first place but I do concur that it was probably as a form escapism as another poster suggested.

I still remember one of the anime diehards I used to post on the internet with was so far into it he bragged that he felt his English felt 'forced' because he spoke so much Japanese. After like, 6 months of speaking it.

He also wrote death threats over Yu Yu Hakusho being aired by Cartoon Network
