All of these claim to be a different thing but they all taste exactly the same. They're all terrible.. is there any beer that's good?

Without commenting on the quality of the beers you've chosen, you seriously might have a taste bud problem if you think all of those taste the same

Because half of those pictured are basically the same beer with different branding. Branch out to other beers. Hefeweizens, stouts, Belgians. Most likely your mouth isn't used to the taste of hops, so it's focusing on that aspect exclusively. I would bet money that you either have or will describe that taste as a "beery" taste.

Because they don't.

Just like all pop doesn't taste the same, or all tea, or pretty much anything.

Varying grains and hops couldn't give more completely different pronounced tastes.

Beer is an acquired taste. The more you drink it the more you can taste the VERY SUBTLE flavor differences --- which become quite noticeable one you start drinking more. But yeah. When I first started drinking beer everything tasted the same.

I think you may have been born without a sense of taste. You should probably see a doctor to make sure.

I once told a few guys I hang with that Belgian Ale tastes like Bud Light and all other beer.

They are still salty to this day about that.

I'd say the problem is more with your taste buds than with the flavor of beer.

Edit: buy yourself an IPA, some malt liquor and some inbetweens. Just try and compare.

You just don't like it, and if you don't like it you wont notice difference. I have the same experience with most alcoholic beverages. Don't let the peer pressure get to you, i mean, there are people who don't like tomatoes...

On the topic of beer taste, what do light beers taste like? I've actually never tried them.

watered down rice waste

Also, half of those are really cheap beers that occupy a similar taste profile. Dig into a really good belgian, a stout, a lambic or an IPA and tell me it tastes exactly like all of those in the picture.

I'd also recommend digging around the Beer OT for some truly incredible flavors.

Try going to a craft beer place and getting the samplers. There is definitely a difference between them all.

As a guy that is looking into starting his own micro-brewery, this.

Yesterday I made a Bohemian pilsner that I think will be appreciated.

It's hard for me to describe, but it's bad. Straight up bad. Light beer is shit, and nobody should drink that even if you are trying to save some money.

Also OP has bad taste buds.

The things this thread has accomplished:

  1. WorldStar caught a ban.
  2. We all learned OP is ignant about beers.

Was it worth it??
It's only been about ten minutes that's not even enough time to run to the store and pick up something better.

And it's always worth it to see someone shoot themselves in the foot for no good reason.

... Anyways, yes, go look at Rate Beer or Beer Advocate. Find a good beer store (usually doubles as a wine liquor store, though some are pretty much just there to sell liquors and big things of cheap bear) that stocks craft beers and look for something that interests you, or at least a grocery store that's got a more robust selection. Unless you live in PA or a similar place that bans grocery stores from selling booze, then forget that last one.

And if you absolutely must, you may as well try to get a Bud Light for cheap or free. That's the stupidly popular choice for some reason (marketing mainly I presume, I only noticed how grossly prevalent that was after finding out that accounted for about one-in-five beers drunk in the USA) so it'd give you a base line of what to expect from them.

Please try either an imperial stout, barley wine or a sour beer. You can't possibly say those taste the same after that :p

Oh man Seattle Beerfest is happening soon, means my one time of year to think "sour beer's a great idea!" and then regret it.

Yo OP you're drinking all commodity beers though. Get with some Ultra Stanky Double Hops IPA next time.

Also, pro beer tasting tip: chew your beer next time. It'll fizz up a bit more, you'll get more aroma. Plus it'll force you to hold it in your mouth a bit longer. Might help you appreciate it a bit more.
