Matt, Mark and Peer step into IGN's recording dungeon to chat about their undying love affair with Wii in this Friday's Wii-k in Review. Topics include a post-analysis of NPD data, Smash Bros.' delay, Wii's 2008 online games, Wii Fit's success in Japan and more. Matt and Mark also offer impression of Bully and Endless Ocean's online mode. Finally, the three place their different bets on the capabilities of Wii 2.
Always a good listen.

NPD data? That would mean wii is taking up most of the Top 30? Pretty sure ppl thought otherwise in the Dec. NPD thread. That's news to me.

Prince of Persia on Wii did OK in terms of sales.
Probably would have done better had it not been an utterly bullshit, full-priced version of a BETTER game that could be had for $20... and would still be playable on the Wii!

-Peer: WiiHD, 720p, component out, analog/audio out.
-Bozon: Wii2, keeping Wii name, 720p/1080i, HDMI cable which won't be in box, under 5gig internal flash drive, SD compatable, gig or so of internal memory, analog audio. Price point $250, games still $50
-Matt: Price point $250. 720p or even 1080p, HDMI.

Is it idle speculation, or are they hearing some rumblings that Nintendo will be first to market with a "next gen" system?

What.
So that's 13.5 million for December, not too bad at all.

And the top 3 (those that appeared in the top 10) only account for 3.1 million of that. Wow. Too bad we don't get Japan-level tracking here, there must be some interesting things going on below the top 10.

Yes. From their wording you can rule out zelda, mario, prime. Touching up the summary now, going to try to remove some of the crap, reword some of the stuff and bold more important info.

Bozon mentions its their "personal light at the end of the tunnel" They have long asked Miyamoto about Kid Icarus and in todays 08 preview they say an old franchise will be brought back at E3. Probably reading too much into it but it sounds like Kid Icarus is coming.

Wish someone from the ignboards would ask about Kid Icarus for next weeks Wii-k in Review. Too bad i aint a member.

They also seem to know what Retro is doing now?

Are they talking about a game with that announcement?

I think it could be a harddrive or something.

They know what the game is, but they won't outright say it. Infact in the reader questions section a lot of the ign members ask the same questions we would ask.. but Matt and Boz's response are "We can't answer that". You know, NDA's and all that. Don't look much into the light at the end of the tunnel comment. Earlier when they were answering a reader question about are there anymore AAA after brawl they said sure there are some, Wiifit, Mario Kart AC, but the end of the tunnel is pretty dark right now and sure the system can use a few more AAA titles.

That comment about Crystal Bearer's may be troubling for some (no online or multiplayer), but not for me. That means that it will have a robust single player. I'll generally take a well designed single player game over a so so single/multiplayer game. I'm assuming, of course, that CB turns out well. And 1:1 controls? What kind of combat system does it have? First person?

They just said that for December NPD Wii software outsold 360 software! :-o
Where are all those people saying that the software sales on the Wii are terrible? Better then the 360, and the 360 has what, 2million more consoles in the States?

Those are NOT all first-party sales either people.

I really hope this shuts some people the hell up about Wii software sales.

Again, I caution people to not take this word as gospel. Somehow I feel like if this were true, Matt Cassassasssassamina wouldn't be the only one saying it.
