By the time Xbox gets the first party out on the regular basis it will be 3 years into the console lifecycle. MS will perform better but it will be halfways through the gen's lifecycle before it hits full steam. Once it shows it has finally reached its potential I can see people pick up the xbox pro version in addition to the PS5. If it doesn't have a good first party out by the pro, I'm not getting it. I'm not buying an Xbox for potential, there is no substance yet.

Aren't you an Arab?

what does this have to do with my post?

Are we really assigning them colors like political parties now? Am I an independent if I like Nintendo?
No you are an heretic!

Seriously, this is annoying because it would basically mean that you can't try to find the truth, but whatever it is one company wants you to say to be "right".

Do GAF really has more Sony fans than Xbox fans? There are any research about that?

I have the impression Nintendo fans are the majority in GAF BTW... it was always more Nintendo fans.

What about PC? There is RED (AMD), GREEN(Nvidia), Blue (Intel), Puke(Apple)
YEALLOW (Glorious PC Master Race)

There is nothing better than trolling dipshits with platform allegiances. The good news is that there are plenty of idiots in every camp.

5 years? Damn son who the hell knows? It's a matter of how much money ms is willing to burn to try and stay competitive. Be honest, without gamepass Xbox would have had nothing on PS5 launch window line up but a higher TF box. Plus on witch system are your pall's playing? I live in Holland and nobody owns an Xbox over here. And the ones that do are raging fanboys and try to defend their purchase.

Depends on who gets perma banned in those 5 years. Many people already sacrificed their accounts after Bethesda acquisition. More after E3. If the trend continues there might be a color shift indeed. I know that's not precisely what OP asks about, but the same end result basically.

I hope it solely depends on the quality of products released by the major videogame companies.

There has been a surprising and actually suspicious amount of praising gamepass threads on Neogaf in the last 12 months prior of the homogenization into a single thread, but as far as actual love and passion goes for games released by Microsoft I have not yet seen an increase in that. I am neither saying nor implying that actual paid shills are propagating and manipulating, but Microsoft is still in deperate need to deliver in the one territory that matters most for gamers : Actual masterpiece games you admire that stay with you long after finishing them.

Microsoft has done well with the hardware and unifying Windows and Xbox Gaming. Now the next step is to catch up to Nintendo and especially Playstation in the video game quality segment. If they can do that then yes I could see Neogaf, or any other forum, turn green.

Interesting... which are these guys being banned? I saw that a lot of Xbox fans doesn't post anymore here... were they banned?

It's already green I would say?

Downplaying Sony positive news, concern-trolling, the continuous repetitions of ad like phrases....

Yeah, definitely green already.
There are more Xbox fans than Sony fans here... that is nothing new... it was the same in the past it just that Xbox fans become more quiet with PS4 gen.

Said that I still believe in terms of numbers: Nintenod fans > Xbox fans > PlayStation fans in GAF.
Shift between colors is so small in numbers that people take fans being quiet with shifting sides.

I think it's safe to say that there's more PlayStation fans than XBox fans on NeoGAF. Nothing wrong with that considering PlayStations history over the last 25+ years, specifically the last 7 or so years.

That being said, the console industry is undergoing considerable change and it feels like preferences on NeoGAF are likely to change over the next few years.

Microsoft is now primed to be able to release a AA - AAA exclusive once per month, at an astonishingly affordable rate (GamePass). Many of those games will likely be single player in nature.

Sony seems to be pivoting hard to a multiplayer future as the majority of their teams are now working on multiplayer projects. Their investment into Evo, Discord, putting mics on controllers, certain patents (https://segmentnext.com/2021/07/13/sony-ps5-online-tournament-system/) etc...

If true, are we headed towards a sea change on NeoGAF in the next 5 years?

Well, there's nothing special on Neogaf, people prefer PlayStation everywhere in the world, so there are more PlayStation fans everywhere. If you live in the US you may think it's close with Xbox, but here in Europe or in the rest of the world, it's about 3:1 or something, not close at all. Resetera is actually far more Playstation centric, and GAF is one of the forums which has the most Xbox fans...

I doubt anything will change anytime soon, Sony will continue releasing great single player games, it already started with Demon's Souls or Returnal (or Miles Morales and Ratchet).

The problem with Microsoft strategy is it comes a bit too late (on top of not being sustainable as it is, if you want AAA games, prices on Gamepass will either go up or quality will have to be limited, maths don't add up otherwise for profits). Nowadays Sony has tons of great games and a good chunk of the best devs in the business. Tons of games of the year awards too. Most people like me don't want to have two consoles near the TV, so for Xbox to get on top, they would need to convince people like me that they can make BETTER games than Sony, not just simply make great games. It's nearly impossible. People won't abandon PlayStation now that they release GotY after GotY... It would have been much much easier 15 years ago, when Sony stumbled at the start of PS3 era.

has been asked to post in 'Grounded' mode.
I think right now some people have it in their minds that PlayStation will just stop having some of the greatest games once Xbox starts releasing their stuff

I think things will calm down next year and people will see that PlayStation will still be the most popular gaming brand

This place was so much stronger for Sony just a year ago. It’s been brutal for those guys! Now it’s the same 10 guys as always have to work a lot harder to keep conversations the way they want them
sorry we are playing games not talking about waiting for them for 8months......... couldnt imagine being a xbox fanboy like yourself with a final fantasy avatar, i laugh every time you post.

I'm more curious to know what the demographics are for each. I'm in my 30's, and I don't think I've met a single person who owns a PS4 vs an Xbox. That's purely anecdotal, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience?

The world has a playstation bias and that's not gonna change until Xbox stops being bad.

And even after that, it won't change either. To beat the competition you have to be clearly better to make people switch. It's pretty hard to be clearly better than the guys who release game of the year after game of the year, masterpiece after masterpiece... Don't hold your breath.

We really need to wait and see the new games released by Microsoft. How many stupid threads do you need about something that is still in "what if" phase?

It already is, at least in comparison to actual ratios worldwide. PlayStation is 2 to 3 times as popular in the real world. It's about equal here.

I keep seeing people online stating that Xbox is less woke than Sony is. If this turns out to be true, I may actually jump ship.
maybe someone can give me more info on this?
As a corporation, MS is way more “woke” than Sony. They had pride month pop ups in Word.

PlayStation is more woke than Xbox currently but make no mistake, they have all signed on to the new think and the dictates will present themselves.

If that stuff truly bothers you, I’m afraid there won’t any place to escape it before long.

I live in Germany, have friends in Italy and Belgium. We are all 28+ (I'm 33). No one has an Xbox or ever had (I'm the exception, as I had a 360 for a few months). Five of us have a Switch (me included).

Sony is making acquisitions that make sense, seems that the next ones (Bluepoint and Arc System Works) too, they are growing a lot their internal 1st party teams to release more and faster internal exclusives and rising their budget for promising 2nd and 3rd party exclusives with big AAA and indie names. Plus now many PC gamers now will be their happy customers and fans instead of haters.

So I think Sony will continue breaking sales records and dominating the GOTY awards nominations and winners, so I think GAF will continue being blue. Seems that in a year or two MS will stop being way below Sony regarding the amount of exclusives in terms of numbers, but we'll see if they get close in the amount of yearly released number of green metacritic games and specially GOTY contender games. If MS ever achieves this at the end of the generation, the distance in console install base can be too masive that it could be too late.

1) Sony censors Japanese games more than Nintendo does now. 2) Naughty Dog exists.

No one really knows that much about MS yet.
Sony doesn't censor games.

Some games are self censored by the publishers to achieve certain country specific government/age rating approvals, specially when released on retail. These games aren't censored on Switch because aren't released on Switch for at least these countries (Japan, Germany, Australia, China, Saudi Arabia, etc), or in Steam because since they don't have a retail version can skip some of these regulations.

If Sony would be the one censoring this stuff, this same stuff would be censored only for Sony and for all games and in all countries. But instead the censorship is the same for all consoles and only for these countries (some games aren't censored there because aren't released on this countries, at least on retail).

Hard to say. I think there's a fair amount of people who will stick with Sony no matter what. Outside of poasters on hardcore gaming forums it seems like people are warming up to the idea of getting the Xbox Series X here in the states. I think Europe will always be Sony land. MS would have to land a bunch of astronomically large 3rd party exclusives to turn that around.
Yes, Sony will keep dominating MS hard on Europe and Japan. I think that in USA maybe too, but I think it's possible that USA can turn green in the second half of the generation.

The sea change is already happening, and MS hasn't really even launched a great first party game yet.
All sales data and quarterly reports say this is fake news. Sony keeps dominating and breaking gaming history records.
