Will Nintendo have a Summer Sale?

Aw snap
Summer sales! The only good part of this bug infested, hummidity filled, sorry excuse for a season
Xbox Live is having a summer sale
PSN is having a summer sale
Amazon is having a summer sale
Green Man Gaming and Good Old Games have sales. Steam and Origin will have some soon. There are probably a few more out there I forgot

So where is Nintendo is all this? Sure publishers can set their own price but without the platform holder or store pushing an organized effort these individual sales get very little attention.

So, do you think Nintendo will host one? Should they host one?

You'll have your copy of Kirby for 30 cents and you'll like it.

Well 3rd parties get to decide when to have sales on Wii U at least so there's that. I wonder if Nintendo would host some collective effort. Maybe.

the wii u eshop has had some decent sales given that there's no content, but also given that there's no content, they're not going to be able to make a spectacular amazing mindblowing sale.

Didn't we had a thread a long time ago about NSB from the DS was still full priced?

Nintendo has been conditioned that people will buy their games full priced years after they are released. They don't feel they need sales to move game units.

The eShop has sales all the time. Publishers/developers control their own pricing.

Their sales tend to be more specific. Ideame? Pricedrop of indietitles. New game announced? Pricedrop for the predecessors.

Didn't Nintendo/Iwata/Reggie (one of those) brag at one point about not dropping game prices?

That their retail-games don´t tend to drop value-wise. Not the worst thing to happen.

Would be nice on 3DS where they have done it before, though I've only seen very small price cuts on there as of yet.

Japanese eShop has sales all the time:
-Get coupon-code for charging WiiU-shop account
-All Level5 games 50% off on 3DS
-Virtual console 30¥ campaign
-Denpaningen 1 & 2 50% off
-Summer-releases on WiiU 10% off
-rebate when buying both Oracle & Ages Zelda

Plus the WiiU-stuff adds up to the Premium-Set bonus-program, plus Club Nintendo stars

If this means we will get the same idea Nintendo has had of what a sale is in the past for 3DS, no thanks. You can keep your "sales" Nintendo.

Did they ever drop the price on their retail titles that are on the eshop?

yes. they have. it's not up to Nintendo to control the pricing on the eShop. It's up to the publisher. AC3 is now $30 but Zombi U is still $60. They do sales all the time, it's just not a lot of content to do sales with.

I'm sure if Nintendo was about to drop a next gen console w/o backwards compat they'd be having great sales trying to make whatever cash they can off the old stuff.

Or if they were a PC digital distribution outlet.

Well I was asking about Nintendo titles and you start talking about Ubisoft.

Nintendo has sales on their eShop platform. That is the topic of the post. It isn't "why does'nt Nintendo drop the prices on their first party games"

There are what, 3 first party games that have been released?
