It took me until now to realise that the Karstein agent names were german number related. I guess I was too focused on L-Elf being an elf. Without the ears.

I feel the
Evil Society of Vampire Body Snatchers
plot is starting to take off in a dumb way, which means it will end in a ridiculous and disproportionate manner. Can't wait.

On the other hand, with the
timeskip and Maria issues I see a bad ending up ahead for Haruto...
But then again, maybe that's what we're supposed to think about.

The Pilot's Love Song

I finally watched the first two episodes, and hey, it's good!. I mean, not really good, but very decent for now, with hopes of being better if it fleshes out the story and characters in a good way.. Pity the production values are cheap.

The characters are directly relatable and have some charm in a mundane way, both the mc and her sister and the secondary pilots that already establish relations of friendship, rivalry, love, etc. And the story seems a decent mix of SoL, adventure, mystery, and some past (and present?) drama in a school/military setting, which is a bit of a stretch to use two typical anime setting tropes but hey, military academies also exist in real world.

Later today I will watch the third one.

Buddy Complex Episode 3: Meeting Again

Seeing the full coupling sequence from beginning to end with a more experienced Aoba offered a great time.
Was shocked that it was Hina, or at least I hadnt even put the pieces together when the other squad kept calling her Hina and then thinking oh its the same Hina that Aoba has always mentioned. Though explanation is needed fast about the present state of Dio and this Hina and how they know the future Aoba character that initiated the sequence at the start of the anime and time travel hi-jinks
.

Mecha fight looked great and such and the blurring stuff with the heat and then the abilities unlocked by coupling, a vanishing drive of sorts.

Ugh. Why do we always come to an episode like this whatever happens?
Suddenly the entire cast has become completely stupid and dozens of people, including main scientists are abducted and harvested?
UGH. WHY.

Edit : I thought I spoilered that. Sorry.

VVV End

Oddly enough the ending was less...grandiose than I expected. Probably in part due to the couple of
timeskips
which limited the possible outcomes as the story progressed. My previous suspicion regarding Haruto's fate turned out 100% true. The final mecha design was great apart from the colours palette. The bouquet scene was a nice and funny touch.

On the music side, I can't say any track was memorable but, at the same time, there wasn't any moment where I thought the score was off character

Shame episode 22 marred an otherwise fun adventure.

God tier : L-11
Best guy : a tie between Yamada and Inuzuka
Best girl : Nanami-sensei

Space Dandy - 03

I don't get the complaint, because this episode really improve my impression.. its fun (also funny) and pretty as hell, my favorite so far.

Maybe because I'm watching the superior sub version.

I don't think the sub is as funny as the dub as someone who watches both

After watching the second episode 2 of Space Dandy, I'm still really pleased with it. There's just no pretension to whats on offer - it's just a fun, satisfying ride.

I'´m trying to watch Yamato 2099 before voting in the AOTY thread. Just two episodes so far but I'm really impressed, really looks epic.

Tomodachi wa Mahou
That's what I'm thinking.

I can already see why too

Nisekoi 2

Yeah that OP makes it quite prevalent with the symbolism. Most obviously that there are
two different keys for the locket.
If thats the case then yeaaaaaaaaah.

But I really don't like Onodera. I hope she loses and loses bad. I want her sobbing tears of defeat by the end of this show. Chitoge is the best.

So far this is a SHAFT version of My Bride is a Mermaid. I'm digging it but I can already see how this show is going to fall apart. Hope I'm wrong!

No need to hold your tongue. I'll wait reading your impressions until I'm done.

Well, only if you insist. I'll try to make it spoiler-lite, but I'll black it out anyhow.

The Eccentric Family END -
I'll preface this by saying I picked up the show and dropped it after about 10 minutes, only to give it a second chance on the insistence of people here. I will say this, after watching it I was not running back to the AotY thread to change my list, but I think its something that I could easily recommend, particularly to people that may be adverse to anime in general. However, I did take some issue with it. I can accept the the idea that they shapeshift, as that is part of Japanese tanuki mythology, however, the degree to which they shapeshift often comes of as kind of a deus ex machina. Being able to shapeshift into a mountain, train, or an entire shopping district makes you question why man is the dominant race instead of the tanuki who have god-like powers. I also don't think Benten ever got a proper explanation, along with other little things like why the mother would take that form of a prince.

That said, there were some feels, particularly around when everyone learns of the circumstances of the father's death (the presumed circumstances, before the real truth came out) and the brother's guilt.

The Pet Girl of Sakurasou 1-24

Absolutely an amazing show. Its funny, It knows how to be serious, It portrays reality amazingly well, Its a great confidence booster and It has some amazing lessons that someone can learn from watching it. The characters are fun, enjoyable and realistic. The story is simple, but they manage to portray it amazingly well. In the end they wrapped up every single loose thread and I was smiling with tears in my eyes.

Just amazing, this show will definitely be going into my short list of responses when people ask "I'm trying to get into anime, what should I watch?" :)

I just finished this up myself last night. Definitely got the feels during the graduation speech. A little formulaic in the "guy falls for weird girl, totally oblivious to the feelings of the close friend." I was actually kind of surprised it went 24 episodes. I remember watching around episode 10 and expecting everything to wrap up after the Nyappolon show, I didn't expect it to keep going. It was a pleasant surprise though, I enjoyed it.

edit - Whoops, sorry for the double post.

Dragon Knight Gaiden
Legendary warrior Takeru Yamato has noble intentions, but his aching wanderlust always gets him into trouble. When entering the city of Toras he saves a young thief called Jodi from summary execution and decides to help the lad out by finding his missing sister. As it turns out there's more to Jodi than meets the eye and their quest will lead to all kinds of mayhem, demonic and otherwise...

:90s
As far as the 90s were concerned, there seemed to have been an obsession with fantasy anime. H-anime was no different.
Overall this was pretty ok. Mostly tame, especially considering other Elf adaptations like Words Worth. Save for some yuridom. This was pretty short too and I assume it didn't really adapt much of the game.
If you like this sort of thing I guess it's OK I guess but overall it wasn't even as exciting as words worth so I am not sure I can recommend it in the same light. Not that much sakuga either. Fun overall though.
Edit: I should have realised from the title but they also did 2 more adaptations of the games so I guess I need to track those down as well.

Toriko Episode 138 – Duel! Sunny vs. Tommyrod!

Best fight of this arc, unless Toriko v Starjun can take things up even higher, though Starjun did reach epic levels. First time in awhile that Ive wanted the next episode, the hair acrobatics and such looked so good in the colouring scheme chosen.

Jesus what an incredible lack of imagination.

Why aren't tanukis
the dominant race if they have super powers? Well, the same reasons every other story with supernatural beings, more or less:
-There are only a few of them, way less than humans.
-If there are supernatural beings, there are also supernatural powers. Like the typical priests with charms an exorcisms (you surely have seen a few of times in other animes!) very effective against supernatural beings and spirits.
-Not only there are tanukis and tengus, but gods. Gods that control them at keep them at their current status.
-Tanukis aren't interested in world domination, they are lazy drunk rascals. As per the myths, they are pranksters, not dictators.

Thought the Prince form was to better represent her being both mother and father figure at that point.

Tanuki society seemed really accepting of the status quo per the agreement brought up often enough. Think it's also a case where they're not dominant because each race had people capable of godlike stuff but there were never really any displays of dominant human or tengu power aside from the fan or Benten chasing a whale for kicks.

Didn't really think Benten needed much of an explanation past what we got either. She's the link between the three races but her melancholy/boredom/etc stems from having no actual place among any of them.

Ok, watching Dragon Knight (1991) it's a lot more fun than Dragon Knight Gaiden (1995)
Better faces and more RPG gags. It's also interesting to note that it seems the OVAs have their own canon of sorts where in Gaiden the main character was called "The Hero of Strawberry Fields" which is the story of the first OVA.

Samurai Falmenco 7 & 8
I thought something wrong was going to happen during the drug bust, but I did not expect the guy to turn into Guillotine Gorilla. I'm not sure how I feel about these new monsters as I thought they would be fighting more realistic enemies and not some monsters. I can't say if it's good or bad. It's just weird to me and came out of nowhere. I'm still enjoying it, though.

"Dominant race" was a bad term to use. Just that they're creatures with such power, and their primary threat to their existence is being turned into a stew.

Yeah, by the time all is said and done, you're basically paying the same as the sale price or thereabouts. Well, especially if you're in Canada anyway.

I don't really remember MM other than the author dying a while ago. Although I think there was an even more perverted love triangle show about some kid who was a master of writing porn.

I do not recall a love triangle, as this following show was not as enjoyable as MM! for me, but I would assume you are talking about R-15. Pretty sure this was censored like crazy too. Probably the reason I enjoyed MM! being slightly more tame.

If you want to confirm if this is the show you think it is Crunchyroll has it to stream, that is assuming Canada has streaming rights. http://www.crunchyroll.com/r-15

Much better and stronger episode than last week, competant and shocking fighting and glorious good style given to Killua. Cant wait to see if end of the arc he is paired with an actual competent opponent as I guess it seems everyone is taken already...Pouf's va is amazing.

Quite possibly
Killua's biggest mistake here.
