Yeah, I easily forget that my internet connection might not be the norm.

I get around 20 Mbps down. And that doesn't even seem very fast to me.

By the way, I want an anime where all of the girls and guys act like that. There's like one or two, like Kanokon or something.

But every other anime handles those situations where the genders are flipped from that .gif. I'd watch a "reverse" harem that was like that, and enjoy it.

I have 100 mbps connection here so definitely what loads "fast" to me might take a while for others. Its my computer that slows down under heavy load. Its ancient.
Also have you seen Sora no Otoshimono? Now thats a fun harem show.

There isn't really some sort of hard limit, but 10meg is definitely too much. I'll say in general up to 2meg should be more than enough to capture any short scene. If it's any longer, it's probably more useful to just link a video or something. :p

Edit: Also, it's not just about having fast internet connections. Having more animated gifs on a page also makes the page slower on some browsers, and some people read GAF from phones and tablets, so it can be pretty annoying!

Yep, and Autodesk Maya 3D for CGI models on scene.

Apparently, more and more people in the Japanese animation industry have been recurring to After Effects in the past years, with solo efforts like the ones from Makoto Shinkai (that even promotes useful plugins for it like LoiLo's Smooth) garnering more attention, to make this product for some the kind-of preferred alternative over RETAS!PRO (CoreRETAS & CoreRETAS HD, but as seen on those images they still use programs from the RETAS!PRO suite like PaintMan) more widely implemented solutions. A famous blog post by Hisashi Ezura, that was an earlier proponent of Adobe After Effects use on his tasks for Japanese productions (http://www.productionig.com/contents/works_sp/35_/s08_/000732.html) commented on this situation and reflects on why this inverted pattern is making people lose focus on programs more specialized for their type of work (http://geocities.yahoo.co.jp/gl/integerq/view/20110325/1301020850).

Oh, yeah, I mean - I was laughing hysterically all the way through that climatic battle in TML, mostly at what was going on on-screen, but the fact that the three-or-four other people in the cinema seemed to be taking it entirely seriously just made it all the funnier.

I think I ended up with a group outing since they were all going over to each other saying things like "Oh hello Margaret, how are the boys doing?" while I just sat there wondering what would happen if I burst out laughing. Luckily there was a another group who found it just as funny as I did.

So of course, she made the episode. What's not to love with a stalking girl who looks like a cat and has a cat theme deck. Why can't she and that superhero kid be the stars and do well anything than what we have now.

Thats more shoujo style and you have shows like Fruits Basket and Story of Saiunkoku for that. Actually Story of Saiunkoku is pretty good. Well so is Fruits Basket.
As for recent stuffl ike that you would have to ask DTL or something.

Many trust and rely on RURIN, and is right now the best source for this kind of information I know of (http://neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=35902619&postcount=12019)... in part because another good source for those spectrum analysis ceased the updates from July, 2011 and onwards! At least samples to compare and good tools are still available there (http://gorry.haun.org/pw/?fftspectrum & http://gorry.haun.org/pw/?fftspectrum_sample), if anyone is interested in trying this at home...

It shouldn't really be a huge difference, though. Most digital painting programs are vector-based, so resolution is irrelevant in that case. For digital photography, After FX does take more time with larger resolutions, but that shouldn't be a big deal unless they just have really cheap/old workstations, which they might, LOL. Really the main cost for most of the steps in production should just be time spent rendering.
While Hewlett-Packard has always been making a big fuss about being the sole provider of efficient and very up-to-date workstations to important Japanese animation studios like Studio Ghibli or Studio Khara (χαρα), these have always been more interested in maintaining a steady workflow and easy management of the data created, which for them is still more important than the definitive compositing and very punctual rendering process. In fact, for a presentation of their new infrastructure to deal with a full-digital future for their works, Studio Ghibli's Noriyuki Kitagawa mentioned absence of HDD storage when handling all the raw data they needed as the major concern, while digitizing in a very a high definition their material (http://av.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/20060626/hp.htm).

Yes, it is difficult to research and know the Why's and How's for each studio given their idiosyncrasy. However, and as I see it, two fundamental factors influence a general stance they can have towards implementation of new labors to achieve for their projects a higher-resolution work output:

One is the, more out-of-convenience (as seen before), reason that is managing in a fast way all the task's corrections and checks between different stages of the process (specially digital touch-ups and painting). And another is a limiting factor as is the equipment necessary, and their specifications, but as many studios rely on dedicated support companies to handle those tasks instead of relying completely on in-house digital photography departments... I would say the first one could be the most decisive nowadays.

Yeah, if they're having to do lots of corrections with support companies in rendering, I can see why they'd opt for faster resolutions.

I don't know what I want. Some of the anime I want probably doesn't much exist.

That's why I just watch whatever new anime out there remotely appeals to my interest and don't complain most of the time.

Okay, I do complain. But I'm usually not very harsh in my criticism in anime and can stomach a lot of stuff that make people think some anime are the worst things ever.

I'd like harem anime more if it were more like "reverse" harem anime. And I'd like reverse harem anime more if it were more like harem anime. I'd like to watch a good reverse harem anime, but most of the time it is just as bad but in different ways from harem anime.

I know there's a season's break in-between, but going from JoJo to Neptunia for David Production is probably one of the most hilarious work genre shifts I've seen.

The projects receive about $470,000 for each production . . . working without the constraint of having to deliver a weekly production is probably the bigger factor here.
