The Witcher was a book series before it became a videogame. Not that a adapting a book is free from it's own share of crap. *cough*Game of Thrones*cough*

It spans 2 short story collections and 6 novels written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The first 5 novels comprise The Witcher saga of which the lore of the games is based on. The games are actually sequels to the books.

And Netflix is not the first to adapt the books for film. In 2001 the Polish fantasy film titled The Hexer came out starring Michal Zebrowski as Geralt. Then in 2002 a 13 episode tv series followed.

Don't bother watching them though. They're awful.

But i do recommend the OST for the movie. Composed by one of the best we had - Grzegorz Ciechowski. Whatever instrument he touched, he made fantastic tracks.
The downside is you'd need to understand Polish for some of his best tracks.
