Edit: update below

I don't know if anyone else has been following this story, but it's pretty weird.

A mother and her disabled daughter live together. Someone posts this to their Facebook:

Concerned friends report the posting to the police, who go to the house and find the mother murdered and the daughter missing. The police assume she has been abducted, and start searching for her. A day or so later she is found safe and sound at an address in Wisconsin, and there are reports that police have arrested a person of interest. Incredibly sad, but case closed, right?

Appears not - this is the story today:

Greene County prosecuting attorney said Tuesday morning that Gypsy Blancharde, 23 (not 19 as previously reported), and her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, 26, of Big Bend, Wisconsin. are charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action for the stabbing death of Dee Dee Blancharde, Gypsy's mother.

Investigators say the awful comments posted on Dee Dee and Gypsy Blancharde’s joint Facebook account, which alerted friends, were both authored by Gypsy. Investigators say Gypsy called Nicholas Godejohn, her boyfriend, and he traveled to Springfield to pick her up and kill her mother because she asked him to do so.

...

The investigation found that Gypsy, who reportedly always used a wheelchair, did not take one and can walk just fine.

The sheriff says there are many questions about the Blanchardes' background, including financial fraud, and doubt that they were even Hurricane Katrina victims as they previously claimed. Investigators are continuing to look into the many “twisted details” as the sheriff calls them, in this case.

Obligatory mugshots:

Update

Bobby Pitre, who is the cousin of Gypsy Blancharde and the nephew of Clauddinnea "Dee Dee" Blancharde, said the mother "imprisoned" the daughter and forced her to act like she was disabled — shaving her head and making her use a wheelchair.

,,,

Pitre said there were instances when Gypsy would get out of her wheelchair and push other children around. He said Gypsy once got up and started jumping on a trampoline only to "collapse" when Dee Dee came outside and saw her.

Pitre — who lives in Larose, Louisiana — said when family members started confronting Dee Dee about her treatment of Gypsy, the mother stopped communicating with the family. Pitre said he has not talked with Dee Dee or Gypsy for the past 15 years.

I'm probably way to insensitive but I honestly can't tell, who is the mother and who is the daughter in the picture?

For a second I was all "oh cmon" but then I thought about it and yeah I could see thinking the smaller one was an older woman lol.

But yeah the larger person is the mom and the second mugshot is also the daughter.

So the daughter wasn't disabled? She faked it for sympathy/scam and had her boyfriend come over to murder her mother, then made the posts on their joint Facebook account and left with the boyfriend without a wheelchair (which she was supposed to require)?

That's crazy.

Sounds like the mother was pretty manipulative (scamming by pretending your daughter is disabled). I'm guessing that's the motive.

but... like... maybe I'm missing something but I don't see how it goes from "my mom is a super shitty person" to "THAT BITCH NEEDS TO DIE!"

Well, she somehow managed to manipulate the guy into killing her mother.

tbf he doesn't sound like the brightest bulb going:

In a bond recommendation document, prosecutors call the killing a "planned and deliberate murder."

Godejohn told authorities he asked Gypsy if she was sure she wanted him to kill Dee Dee and she told him yes, the probable statement says. Godejohn said Gypsy was hiding in the bathroom while he killed Dee Dee, the statement says.

Godejohn told authorities he mailed the knife he used to stab Dee Dee to his residence in Wisconsin after the act so he would not get caught with it, the statement says.

After FF7 remake and Shenmue 3, of course there had to be something to counterbalance it and remind us that the world is still shit after all.

Indeed. This is a pic from their Facebook:

With the context it becomes almost too obvious. She looks too (in lieu of a better word) "special" - the odd hats, the oversized glasses, the toothless smile, the twee clothing and the posing with either real or stuffed animals.

I don't know, even with context she looks very convincing.
