The improvements made to the player models show that they are getting to grips with the next gen consoles (now current gen), but also they are ironing out the niggles, it would be good if the game ran 60fps, but if the game ran 30fps or above but was locked in that frame rate with no slow down I would be pleased.

I wish EA would adopt 2-year development cycles for their sports games. I'm going to buy this game, but I'd hate to see footage of FIFA 2010 9 months later that makes my copy of 2009 look dated.

This game is looking and sounding fantastic. I like Andy. He's been good on ESPN.

in some areas it looks great (transitional animation), in others it looks infuriating (off ball player positioning)... i'm probably going to rent this one and give it a shot, but i really, really hope PES 08 Wii hasn't soured my taste on "traditional" soccer games, because this one looks like it has a lot going for it.

Got a good PC? It looks like FIFA 09 PC copies borrows PES Wii's control scheme (Wiimote = mouse) and combines it with the current-gen graphics engine (sharing all the assets).

The PC version has a slightly different engine! But it definitely looks alot better than previous installments ...

FIFA 09 needs more fouls in general--in UEFA you got maybe two fouls a game provided you didn't just slide tackle at people constantly.

not sure what else to say... animations are better than last year. It is still not responsive enough.

I am sure real test will be while playing, but gameplay does not seem to have changed a lot.

We need more arcade football like Super Sidekicks and the like. You know for fun hop and play. Online would be sweet.

As I said to AstroLad over Live: I did pick up UEFA 2008, and it is a good game, but the awful AI prevented it from being a great game. I ended up getting rid solely because the AI was horrendous.

All they have to do is fix the AI and I'm there.

If you are talking about vs. CPU, sadly I think the AI will always be broken in both series. At this point, it's similarly broken in both and I actually think they've both regressed in the past few years. I've largely given up playing the CPU since about WE8, although I wouldn't be surprised if FIFA 09's AI were appreciably better than UEFA's.

Thank goodness for online play and super cancels.

Looks incredible! I cannot understand people saying it doesn't look a step up from FIFA 08. I have played 500+ games of 08 and to me it has improved pretty much everything.

It looks far more fluid, the players now seem to react to things like stretching to reach the ball to pass, the collisions look far better and are realistic, (I can't count the number of times I'd get caught like Lampard from behind, enter a generic stumbling animation and lose possession with no foul) the players make much more intelligent runs (and now have animations asking for the ball) and it looks like the players can change direction much quicker.

There's much more I noticed from that video but I remember reading a good write-up on a blog (fifasoccerblog?), that summed up a lot of my feelings. Can't wait to try this online, and the 10 v 10 should be a lot of fun as well :lol
