WTF? Castlevania: DiScontinued?

Baron Aloha

A Shining Example
Did Konami discontinue Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow already?

Best Buy's computer says its discontinued. Can anyone else confirm?

Best Buy? Sold out.
Electronics Boutique? Sold out.
Gamestop? Sold out.
Circuit City? Sold out.
Toys R Us? Sold out.
Walmart? Sold out.
Target? Sold out.

Damn Konami. Looks like I'm gonna have to order this sucker online!

Hmm, that seems odd. The game seems to be selling enough that it would seem odd for Konami to pull the plug so quickly.

Fucking DS games. Why do they become rare so quickly? Maybe I should go get it before my Bestbuy runs out.

I went to Gamestop again yesterday concerning the game, and they said everytime they restock it it's sold out within three hours. WTF?

They said they are getting 5 copies in the shipments. -_-

This isn't suprising considering how quickly Konami games tend to go out of print. The GBA Castlevanias and the PS2 version of MGS2: Substance both disappeared from shelves not too long after being released.

To sum it up:

Castlevania: DoS releases

PR: "Castlevania: DoS has exceeded our expectations"

Castlevania: DoS is discontinued

Konami suit: 'HAHA TAKE THAT FOR MAKING A FOOL OF ME!"

Konami's american division simply sucks, they must've shipped like 2 copies of ZoE2 in canada, i've been searching for over 6 months in quebec stores and canadian online sites to find nothing, used copies i've found on amazon.com or ebgames are US only and no cnd shipping, blah!

And the worst part is, Konami isn't alone. Just look at Atlus games. Stupid game industry--why the hell can't I buy games on demand, even from the company's official websites? It's like they don't actually want to make money.

Wouldn't surprise me.

A couple weeks ago, I snagged the last copy from Target after going to 4 other stores and them not having it in stock.

I need to buy Trauma Center before it is gone.

Holy fuck @ the prices for Phoenix Wright, Lost In Blue... WHAT THE FUCK, KONAMI AND CAPCOM? DS games for the price of normal console games? WHAT THE FUCk

Where? They sold for $30 each, normally.

buy the castlevania games as quickly as you can if you wan to make sure to get a copy. Konami is very quick to pull the plug for some reason.

... but it sold well

How did it do in December alone?

and when was it "discontinued" ?
October - 76,635
November - 25,125
December - 50,559
Total - 152,319

So with this news can we expect DoS sales to level off soon? 200-250K tops?

the game selling bad (well DoS didn't sell bad) has nothing to do with Konami pulling the plug for some reason. The GBA games got the same treatment despite doing well enough.

Total - 152,319

thanks that's about the same as Aria of Sorrow I think. And GBA has a MUCH bigger userbase.

Konami games around here disappear SO FAST.

You'd be hard-pressed to find Metal Gear Solid 2 anywhere, at all.

What're the total numbers for Castlevania: DoS? In fact, what're the total numbers for ALL of these games mentioned in this thread so far? Especially Phoenix Wright?
LTD's
Meteos - 82,998
Trauma Center - 56,824
Lunar Dragon Song - 38,064
Phoenix Wright - 25,969

Anything else?

Early adopters FTW. The trouble some of us are having finding these games is nothing compared with how it will be a couple of years down the road, when a whole new batch of users buys $100 DSes and has to buy these games...

If it only sold 25K and is already rare, they could not have shipped much in the first place.

Nope. Must have been around ~30. Can't be much more atleast.
So they expected it to bomb, which leaves hope for GS4 to come over here after it's released in Japan. :)

Well yeah. If they really thought it was going to be a massive hit (or even a semi-hit) they would have atleast printed some copies. I'd bet they saw this as a trial-game to test the market. I mean they are going to release it in Europe too. Would they do that with a game deemed failure?

Here's to hoping atleast :)

Christ on toast this is stupid. Portable games should be cheap and plentiful. This is why I own so few portable games.

This thread is making me want to pick up Phoenix Wright and Trauma Center for $70 CAD + tax. :(
