Just to make things clear for everybody, make sure no one delete your game save, its the biggest file that you will have to delete, to all the noobs out there

Just put the game in (you're going to need it to reinstall anyway) and hit Y at the disc panel, the same way you would to install it. The install option is changed to 'delete install' if it's already installed, so just use that.

Genius. Just reinstalled the games on my HDD and gained another 4.2GBs!

Rock Band 2 - 6.3GB > 4.7GB
Ninja Blade - 4.3GB > 4.0GB
Senko no Ronde - 3.4GB > 1.2GB

Just noticed the install files are now called "Installed Xbox 360 Game" instead of just "Xbox 360 Game". Makes me less nervous about accidentally deleting saves when I'm going around deleting install files.

I have a UK 360 with a 120GB HDD if that means anything! And yes I did get the second update.

If you go in Hard Drive options, they have CLEAR CACHE option. I guess they thought everyone figured it out by now. Secondly Pressing X to eject the dvd tray is a neat little option.

When 360 discs are authored, they use a tool to ensure the data that needs to be on the fast parts of the DVD is. Perhaps they've found a way to remove the padding introduced as a result from the images?

But what exactly counts as "essential" files, and if it really did pull the whole disc image the first time, then wouldn't all the installations be 6.8GB and have all the padding?

I think the process is going on, so you can start checking for the gamertag you want on XBOX LIVE and change if you would like to.

If you're a silver member for a long time, it's not going to back to 0. I've had periods of silver membership though, and it shows me as 3 years (should be more, but the name I had on the original Xbox got fucked up with a credit card issue).

Wouldn't make sense. Since a lot of accounts have always just been Silver. You're not obligated to upgrade to Gold.

I noticed that the new update introduces a weird 1 sec delay on gears of war 2 during the checkpoint pop-ups. Weird thing is that this only happens if you have the map packs downloaded, for example I started to notice this after downloading the all fronts pack. Anyone else notice this?

I like the stars being there because they look pretty. They are, of course, utterly useless given that every asshole you meet on Live will still have a 5 star rating. The Zones thing is actually a good indicator of the kind of person you might be playing against. Unless I'm just projecting my assumptions onto everybody and they don't have enough time in a match to dispel them

I'm in the preview thing, pretty lame so far, all I really care about is last.fm/fb/tw. Will save me nothing as I have no space to install games on my 20gb hard drive

The new install sizes would save 2,5GB for me. Considering I still have like 80~GB free, I'm not in a hurry to re-install.

Which makes me more interested in the avatar accessories, but the prices there are a real turn-off (320 pts for that warthog lol). Was hoping for unlockable stuff or something.

Well I just got in and added a 12 month live gold sub to my old original xbox live gamer-tag that I recovered today and it tagged me down for 4 years which is not too bad, should of been five really but I can't complain, bit of a bummer starting from practically zero gamer score though but at least I've got my original gamer-tag back.
