Gamepass is the gaming equivalent of "I'll suck your dick for a cheeseburger".

i don't care about gamepass but this analogy doesn't work.
Same content don't change if you buy, rent or access it as a service unlike fast food versus gastronomy/ home made.

but best way to support something you like is to buy imo.

I was subbed for GP. Great service. But the sum bishes stole three of my games that I already owned that were also on GP. As soon as the games were no longer available on GP, I didn't have access to those games anymore. And you can't talk to a rep to get this matter resolved. They can suck it now. Microsoft done fucked up.
I heard of a similar bug in PSNow. Wasn't there a thread for it?

So Tomb Raider, RDR 2, Gears 5, GTA 5, Nier, FF15, FH4, Metro Exodus, DMC5, Witcher 3, Batman, Halo 5 etc are lower tier games?

Never said they were. Thats list is also third party similar to games with plus and MS first party.

My point was there is the danger going forward (or tendency) for more first party small team projects with existance of such schemes. Do you not think so ?

its just bad marketing for PS NOW.. i have Gamepass for pc and Xbox and thought the offerings on PS now didnt meet there offerings... boy was i wrong. i'm now a happy subscriber of both :)

Gamepass has the new first party games.
PS now has the quantity of games old and newer :)

I agree that Gamepass is huge value and is a good service, I dont do streaming so no interest in PS now.

Its a bold move by MS, the issue I have with it is the desire to make games for gamepass, and so you have lower tier ambitions.

I would rather have 2 or 3 highly polished incredible games than 50 lower tier ones that just add to a backlog.

For next gen I want next gen only games pushing everything that cant even load on current gen, which does not blend well with a netflix type service.

Why in the world would MS flood the service with lower tier small games? Actively putting out bad content is not how you get people to subscribe to a service, lol. It's ass backwards logic.

The real test for MS will be later this year and into next year when the majority of people who took real advantage of that $1 conversion offer have their GPU subs run out. Do they resubscribe? MS gets a much bigger revenue from them if they resubscribe, and they aren't going to convince people to resubscribe with a bunch of Bleeding Edge type games.

In the 3 years Gamepass has existed there is nothing that leads us to believe that is the direction MS is going towards. Going forwards it also doesn't look like small projects is MS' first party focus.

343 is AAA
Coalition is AAA
Turn 10 is AAA
Playground is AAA
The Initiative is AAA
Hellblade 2 is AAA (Ninja Theory)
InXile are hiring for a AAA game
Obsidian is AAA

Then you have studios like Undead, Compulsion games and Double who pay be making AA projects. Which is totally fine. There is room in the industry for 40h blockbuster games, 8h single player AA games, quircky multiplayer games, indie games etc.

And if you have a look at the Gamepass catalogue it is exactly the above.

Both are 10$. Difference is one is heads and shoulders a superior service.

And because you guys are so predictable, if you're going to come back with something don't come to me with that 1$ BS.
please quantify how one is head and shoulders above the other..? i have both and find that both services has excellent features the other hasn't :)

if hellblade II is AAA like the first one (and other game from MS)...the debate can exist.

Half the sales consoles wise, 5 times more users using their service compared to Sony's that makes it 10 times more successful.

Yup. That's why Microsoft wants to turn "AA" State of Decay franchise to AAA with State of Decay 3 (Undead Labs had hiring spree lately). That's why Hellblade 2 will be bigger. Thats why Playground is working on big Fable reboot and Initiative is working on Perfect Dark reboot. And also Obsidian who is working on big RPG game. And I'm not even talking about 500+ devs at 343 Industries.

I know that many people love to bring Bleeding Edge and Grounded as a proof, that Microsoft will be offering mostly AA games, but that's not how these things work. Microsoft gave devs freedom to do what they want and small group at Obsidian wanted to work on Grounded so they are working on Grounded. Also Josh Sawyer is working with small group (5+ devs) on another project. But at same time, one group is working on big RPG and another group is working on DLC for The Outer Worlds. But it is because they devs choosed to do that, no because Microsoft forced them. And Microsoft can allow them to make it thanks to game pass.

It's funny, because many people yelled at Microsoft that they better not interfere with Obsidian/ Ninja Theory... and games they are making like they interfered with Lionhead back in the days. And when NT showed Bleeding Edge, which was their passion project, people bitched again, because Microsoft is again releasing MP focused game.

What's the danger? Halo Infinite, Fable, Hellsblade 2 etc are AAA and are big budget games and are launch on Game Pass Day 1.
There is no danger in a decline of AAA bug budget games.

As long as the company can continue to subsidise the upfront investment long enough to turn a profit, it shouldn't be a problem.

The same can't be said for Nintendo or Sony since they can't afford the upfront investment to eventually make a profit years down the line, everybody knows this except Sony fan boys which continue to be in denial that this is a market that Sony cannot effectively compete in.

Who brought fanboys into this ? Really ?

I have ps4 and my son Ps4 and Xb1 (he has school mates on both and has gamepass etc) - Our backlog is stupidly large so I dont care for 2nd tier stuff personally, but thats my tastes.

I just want to see next gen games on next gen consoles - which we wait for. If all the games shown next month are XSX only and really push things forward, enemy numbers and physics, next gen in full....I will get an XSX and all is good in the world.

If not, I will wait. Same goes for Ps5, I dont want a Ps4 game and up resolution and thats it, have a ray or 2... thanks.

I dont need more current gen stuff with more shine. or slight res bump, I cant see much difference beyond 1440p on our OLED c7 so show me what those Zen2 an 8x can really do, make use of them,.

You know this won't be the case... Also I have no clue what making a game available on current-gen consoles has to do with that same game not able to deliver a different experience on the XSX that pushes gaming forward.

Allot of games i play, you run into an area (open world and fixed area) and the five scripted enemies appear with the same animations and lunges....you know exactly what I mean - the JAGUAR curse. My toaster has a better CPU lol.

Last gen Jaguar target developed games need to die already (In my opinion). Maybe it does not bother you, it does me.

Both consoles when they unleash those > 3 Ghz 16 threads, it will be glorious and no contest - god we have suffered for 7 years.

Any game which is made for Zen2 = 8 x Jaguar (and thats being kind) is not compatible.

That 800 % is the big difference next gen to current, its obscene.

Just my opinion, sharing what I think, its not for everyone, but thats what opinions are. Its not about scaling and GPU, its that damn toaster !

Gamepass is clearly a better service than PSNow at the moment, in terms of overall game selection.

But PSnow doubled its amount of subscribers in 6 months. With the PS5 being BC it will be cost effective for Sony to supply Psnow with a lot more AA and AAA games from the PS4 generation, and it will be a nice point of entry for anyone coming into Playstation for the first time.

I think Sony is positioning it very well to have the PSnow grow pretty big without it being at the cost of expectations, and with that I mean people expecting Sony first party day 1 on the service.

We will see what Sony does, but doubling its subscribers in 6 months is pretty impressive.

It’s the best deal right now, $1 to start, you get access to some pretty good games, I never would’ve paid $24.99 for SoR4, but it was free on gamepass. I don’t even recall me ever downloading any psn+ games.

Streaming worked great for me on PSnow. Played MGS collection and MGS4 on it, and loved every minute of it. I know it's only 720p but apparently pretty high bitrate?? Because the image quality was more than fair, I was expecting much worse on a 4k 55'.

Hopefully Xbox Series S is real, and I will just get my hands on it and plug it to my 1080p screen but if it's not I will be more than happy to have the option to play Xbox through Xcloud, if the tech is there. I would love for it to only depend on my connection(I get 1ms ping) but I know it will depend a lot on where Xbox data center is.

I'm all for options man. I don't only watch movies in the cinema etc

In to this party late, but it's only this popular because of those promos they had where you can get it for a year for super cheap and the conversion of your current XBL Gold subs to GamePass Ultimate. I converted my 3 year sub to XBL Gold to GamePass Ultimate for $1. Once those subs fizzle out from that promo GamePass will most definitely fall off and be on even keel with Playstation Now

What a disingenuous piece of shit article..... there are news reports everywhere saying PS4 sales are well over 110 million.

XBox sales are at 46 million. That is much less than half. You can't just cut 10 million from PlayStation sales.... cut 10 million away from XBox too, in that case.....

What an annoying load of shit.

On Topic: I use gamepass on PC and love it. The fact that I never have to buy a microsoft console for their games is amazing. Wish Sony would put Now on PC as well.

Love GP Ultimate, especially as MechWarrior 5 was available in the past few weeks on PC and it saved me already quite a few bucks (like PES 2020 on Xbox or Paradox Imperator on PC) on certain titles I would have bought and then put away after a few hours. As always, money is not the factor but the limited time and the excitement for new things.

I'm excited for the inclusion of the streaming service (when it starts - beta runs good) too.

Gamepass launched less than 3 years ago. It's still early to see how it can impact MS output content
The change could depend on how it grows if there is one.

Laugh all you want, but the moment people's cheap subs expire and they're stuck with paying full price for the service they'll abandon it in droves. The only redeeming quality for owning GamePass Ultimate is access to exclusives at launch. If they don't up their exclusives for next gen and it plays out like this gen they're screwed.

A lot of it is how confusing PS Now is. I didn't even know it was on PC until yesterday. They need to improve the quality of stream as well. Value is higher with Game Pass atm.

This is a very fair point. Currently, it only allows streaming on PC, and it needs to improve its quality to justify the money.

Cute response, but nobody will care about any of those titles in a few years when next gen is in full swing which is the point of what I was saying. Those games you mention are only on GamePass for a limited time. If these titles were to stay on the service forever you'd have a legitimate argument. Some of these games only stay on for a few months

Right because it's not like Microsoft has continually offered compelling reasons to stay on GP with offering a cadence of high quality AAA games for months at a time and continually keeps the library fresh.

Nah. Especially since they have GamePass Ultimate now which includes access to GP on PC and XBLG. It's tremendous value even at retail price, which no one pays on any of these Xbox/PS services usually.

Look at you trying so hard to make it look like people won't stay. Do you realize how easy it is for people and parents to look at this and think "for the price of 2 games a year.. maybe, I can get access to hundreds of games?" It's a no brainer, especially when exclusives are permanently in the mix. People will also very clearly care about the next-gen games that will also populate the service.

I don’t necessarily agree with this. Xbox has several sales on AAA games. As a matter of fact, most of the games that I didn’t buy at launch I bought on live at a steep discount. I can’t really speak to the sales PS offers because all of my PS games are hard copies with the exception of the show which I’ve recently been buying digital.

I honestly don't think it will hold. Especially when PS Now gets in full swing for next gen and their list of titles continue to grow. A lot of these titles get discounted digitally so quick now which evens out over the long haul. The only difference is you own the titles permanently.
