Think you have what it takes to defeat the most talented musicians in the universe in rhythmic combat? God of Rock opens its world tour on April 18, 2023, unleashing a stacked setlist of energetic tracks that players will need to master to perform devastating combos in musical matches against other fighters. Check out the newest trailer above showcasing God of Rock’s unique blend of fighting and rhythmic gameplay.

Pioneering Rhythm-Fighting Mechanics Like No Other

In God of Rock, you’ll face off against your opponents as one of the universe’s greatest talents, and with the power of your righteous beats, blast them into orbit. You and your enemy will engage in a match just like in any other fighting game, but the actual battle will be driven by rhythm game mechanics. Follow the prompts scrolling across the screen, spurred on by music that’s been dictated by the stage and characters selected, to unleash attacks on your foe.

As battles continue and health bars wear down, the beat will pick up. Keep up with the music, or your attacks will miss their mark. In these fights, the one who loses their groove first will be the one to fall. Special and Ultra attacks must be utilized to their fullest extent to take control of the fight.

It's a fighting game where your attacks are the pressing the face button prompts on time, if you miss you can get hit. You have press the prompts on the beat though not jsut press them, and then the fighting plays itself. You can fill up your special meter and use a directional input with a button for a super move.

So basically it's a fighting game for people who liked Parappa, and don't want to deal with movement, stun, spacing, or hitboxes.

It releases April 18th 2023 for Xbox Series and PlayStation 5, also cross-gen with Xbox One, PS4, and Switch.

I'm guessing Microsoft has the marketing deal for this one.

This was announced on the PlayStation YouTube channel 4 months ago? Doesn't mean XBox doesn't have some kind of marketing deal but they are a bit late to the party.

The trailer is new (and the release date reveal), Xbox usually doesn't mention games that aren't bigger MPs on their blog if there isn't some perk or benefit if you get it on Xbox than other platforms, or they have the marketing deal.

Maybe, but that exact same trailer was put up on the PlayStation YouTube channel at the same time which is strange if it's some kind of marketing deal is it not? Unless it's coming to GamePass, but I can't see any mention of that, otherwise you would expect some kind of exclusive time frame for marketing.
By the way, it's also coming out on PS4, XBox One and Switch

Xbox has had COD ads at the same time PS had before in the past, and that's not the only game so not really.

We will have to see if there's anything extra that's announced but like I said MS usually doesn't blog a game if there's not some leaning benefit outside some bigger name multiplats that sell consoles.
