Xbox just changed my gamertag. They want me to pay to change it

So a little backstory.

I originally had my gamertag as ButtSmasher about 4 years ago. It got flagged for being inappropriate so they made me change it. They let me do so free of charge and I ended up just adding an R to it and had the name ButtSmasherr. Same thing happened not to long after and I did the same thing and added another r leaving me with the name ButtSmasherrr. I haven't had any problems since then. It's been over 3 years.

Then today I log on to play Gears after not really touching my Xbox for about a month and my name is now FaintColt388301. I tried to change it because that name is dumb and they want me to pay $9.99 in order to do so.

I can understand that my name might have been inappropriate and why they would make me change it but to have to pay $10 in order to do so is pretty dumb. Is there anything I can do ot has anybody else had the same problem?

so buttsmasher was too offensive for xbl and they asked you to change it free of charge, then you go ahead and dont change it and when they take matters into their hands you get riled up ? i think its your fault and you should pay buttsmasher

What's dumb is you just kept adding Rs. Especially when they changed it again after you added one. You didn't learn your lesson and now you get to pay.

They gave you two free chances to change it and you were a smartass about it. Can't blame them.

Xbox's GT filter is so fucking stupid. Call Support and complain, they should be able to let you do it for free.

So you get flagged for inappropriate tag, they offer you to change the tag for free two times, you don't change the part of the tag wich is actually inappropriate

...what were you actually expecting?

They gave you two chances to change it to something more appropriate. After seeing you make no effort to do so, they seem to have done it for you.

Also, buttsmasherrr isn't dumb but FaintColt388301 is? Lol

I don't like the way Microsoft polices Gamertags on Live either, but you had two opportunities to change it to something more compliant, man.
