New Features
Our Xbox Insider Release Notes come with exciting news! Your enthusiasm for all things Xbox has helped us bring new features to your ring. Thanks to the dedication of Xbox engineers and user feedback, Alpha Skip Ahead users can expect the following new features with this OS system update:
Xbox For Google Assistant
  • For more information on this public beta, please refer to the blog post here or our subreddit here.
Console Streaming
We’re getting ready to roll out Console Streaming (Preview)! Console Streaming is our new Xbox One platform feature that lets you stream installed Xbox One games (including Xbox Game Pass titles) to your phone or tablet directly from the Xbox One you already own. Those with consoles in Alpha and Alpha Skip Ahead Ring in the US and UK can now test their home network, controller and console settings to get ready for the preview.
To run the test, go to Settings -> Network settings -> Test console streaming to get started. The on-screen prompts will let you know if your console, controller and network pass the test, or let you know if there’s anything that needs to be changed. For additional information on how to ensure your console and network are optimized for Console Streaming, please visit the Xbox Support website.
We’re looking forward to sharing more about Console Streaming (Preview) and what to expect in the coming weeks!

Sweet, it only took 5 years and to the very end of the gen, on a console much more powerful than the original Xbone one, in order to get a transition as smooth as the PS4 had out of the gate.

Microsoft, being the huge software powerhouse that they are, should have had this shit fixed in 6 months.

Well I don't know why, but they totally f***ed up the performance since windows 8. Just a few month ago, I bought an old dual core PC (just for experiments, with a HDD) and updated the installed vista to windows 7. It took me around one hour and Windows 7 was installed with all updates etc. Than I upgraded to Windows 10 and well… the installation-process alone needed half a day (I installed it from a USB-Stick with the newest updates).
I really don't know what they did, but without an SSD, Windows 10 is totally harddrive bound and absolute not fast until it is finally loaded. They must really do their homework better to make the whole thing a lot more performant. Maybe their developers should develop on machines with HDD instead of SSD, so they see the bottlenecks a lot faster.

And as xbox is a windows 10 device, this is the reason why the UI is so damn slow.

Known Issues for Alpha Skip Ahead

We understand some issues have been listed in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes. These issues aren’t being ignored, but it will take Xbox engineers more time to find a solution. We appreciate your patience at this time!

Audio

  • Users who have Dolby Atmos enabled and console display settings set to 120hz with 36 bits per pixel (12-bit) are experiencing loss of Dolby Atmos audio in some situations.
    • Workaround: Disable 120hz or set Video Fidelity to 30 bits per pixel (10-bit) or lower.
Disney + App

  • Users have reported playback is buffering while streaming content.
Dolby Access

  • Users are unable to complete the setup for Dolby Atmos in the app and the app is not recognizing Dolby Atmos headphones.
    • Note: This is an issue with the Dolby Access app and the app developers are aware and investigating.
Home

  • Users have reported that the dashboard is unresponsive to controller input on boot.
    • Workaround: Perform a hard restart of the console (hold the power button for 5-10 seconds) to resolve the issue.
Home (Experiment)

  • Users may see the images for ads on the dashboard looking cropped or cutoff.
Plex App

  • Users have reported playback is buffering constantly while streaming content.
Settings

  • Some users have reported that 3D display mode is not working with supported content.
Profile Color

  • Sometimes users may encounter the incorrect Profile color when powering on the console.

How, after 76 years of the console being out, had the profile colour bug not been fixed. It’s in every single update... But they can add a surprise me button?

Yeah, surprise me. Surprise me by fixing that bug.
