Why are people talking delay when there's still possibly 11 months before release?!?

Suppose that I bet Scorpio won't have zen mainly because I'm thinking Scorpio will be released on 2017 and AMD said no Zen in 2017. Let's also suppose that Scorpio got delayed to 2018 and it has Zen.

Is the bet void? XD

Yes. But I don't see Microsoft delaying Scorpio for Zen and giving the PS4 Pro even more time as the "world's most powerful console", especially as the X1 is the runt of the eighth-gen litter, Wii U aside.

I've got to say, the only thing that's keeping me interested in Scorpio is the idea of native 4K RDR2. MS needs to come hard with the games to convince me to buy this instead of a new GPU.

As a big fan of Xbox until Xbox One (Xbox, Xbox 360, then went PS4 until 2016), Scorpio is actually the most excited I have been for a console release in a while. I hope they announce a plethora of good games this year and make a come back in the US at least. I've got a 4K tv and a new 7.1 system waiting to take full advantage.

Yeah, I see alot of old school Xbox gamers that loved the idea MS consoles were always relatively powerful coming back for Scorpio, I just want to see how much of a difference the power will mean in visual terms, if it's immediately noticeable with 3rd party games like Red Dead I can see 3rd party carry the machine initally. Updates to FH3 and Gears will help (if there's a significant difference in visuals).

LOL

I was sweating over the same thing haha XD

I'm kind of thinking this as well, this would make loads more games appear in the Windows store and drive its growth.

Not to mention the possibility of Xbox becoming more of a software platform than a hardware one. That isn't to say that other companies would make Xboxes, necessarily, but I wouldn't mind seeing a gaming-centric variation of Windows that other companies could use to give Windows 10 more of a living room push.

Of course got to make those positive tweets with the Major.

Could actually be truthful though with scorpio, maybe they do have some cards to show at E3?

No cards at all. Didn't you hear, Microsoft is exiting the console business and the Scorpio is getting cancelled.

Haha no way! All you said was that you bet it won't have Zen ;)

Hmm, I had to think about it for awhile because technically if it releases within the first 3-4 months of 2018 with Zen, I would find it very hard to believe an extra 3-4 months would singlehandedly be responsible for that. Normally these kinds of decisions, and the chips built in anticipation of a console release, are usually made, and tested, well in advance of the actual release. If Microsoft somehow delays Scorpio till very early in 2018, and it turns out to have a Zen SoC, that would mean the decision to have Zen was made a very long time ago, and not something that was literally done in those last 3 or 4 months. With that in mind, I don't think it would void the bet. If, however, Scorpio is delayed to middle to late Q2 2018 or later, then I would say a bet is void.

These decisions aren't made in 2-4 months.

This is not what I signed up for, but a bet is a bet XD.

I don't think this in the console space. I feel like that would dilute the platform and confuse the consumers.

What will they be confused about? what they are buying is a Windows 10 device that has a living room friendly interface that just so happen to play UWP games which is what a lot of the Xbox One games will soon be.

Other companies already make Windows 10 multimedia computers. As can average Joe. No one will ever make a multimedia PC that will run an Xbox disk.

Why would it matter if it's a Xbox disc or a windows store download if it's the same game?

Definition of moving goal post. That's not how bets work.

It depends on what you expect though? If they just go the route of 4k, then you will just see the same games in 4k, FH3 4k etc. Which seems like the route they would go, as they haven't mentioned much besides that, although each developer will be free to utilize the power differently. So here hoping that we will see more graphical features and enhancements besides 4k.

It's working for sony so perhaps that's exactly what they should be doing.

I actually prefer the way Sony do it. I get more hyped when its something thats a surprise than i do for games i know are coming soon. Like Forza. I love Horizon3, but knowing that another Forza is coming next year and will probably be a showcase at e3 doesnt get me excited in the slightest.

But when its stuff like god of war that we know is ways out, but they give us a taste of that, that really gets me going.

I understand they want to show what people will be playing soon, but that doesnt get me excited. E3 should be about marketing the future, not the here and now.

So what games are going to launch from MS to promote this console when it releases?
Halo 6? Gears 5?

Developers are not required to make a "Scorpio mode" for games going forward?

he literally does this every year.

Actually not literally (but close to literally) every year

2016 - https://twitter.com/majornelson/status/684083875320954880
2015 - found nothing in January looks like he was too focused on Halo 5
2014 - https://twitter.com/majornelson/status/420205928890109952
2013 - https://twitter.com/majornelson/status/286515977368268800

I'm not going to keep looking, but yeah, he says the same thing pretty much every year. Expect a normal E3 this year.

Why would Scorpio need it when PS4 pro doesn't need it.
Just patch major games and it's good.

They did this in E3 2014 and you can see what happens.
Not saying i disagree with you but at this rate they should and i bet they will announce something won't let people wait for 2+ years, at least not in E3 2016.
