Because they don't have the studios to make exclusive games, so they buy them from third party. And a timed exclusives is more likely to happen. Just look at Tomb Raider or Dead Rising...

Im kind of in the same boat, I felt that the edge Scorpio could have given Scalebound over the OG XB1 would have been well worth the investment.

Unless they blow us away with showing off Crackdown 3 a new Halo and at least 3 BIG surprises Im probably going to wait a few years before I get the Scorpio.

I was putting money by each month in preperation of it launch later this year, that may now go towards getting myself a PS4 Pro.
 
Just a thought here but since we don't know exactly how project Scorpio will work let's assume it works like a PS4 Pro and needs a specific patch for any given game to take advange of the hardware. Or at the most some kind of Windows 10 version.

What's stopping Sony from asking developers who they have marketing deals with not to make a patch?
Games like Red Dead 2, Battlefront 2, new CoD and Destiny 2 might not even take advantage of Scorpio.

I mean not every game takes advantage of PS4 Pro hardware. Why are we assuming that Scorpio will get the best version of these games?

Without proper first party support showing off the hardware Scorpio could be DOA. Just saying hey look at Gears 4 and Horizon 3 running at 4K isn't enough.

It's not shitposting. I'm an xbox fan since 2001, I basically grew up playing on xbox consoles, right now I only have an X1, so am I entitled to speak about xbox current state?!?

It's just being realistic. Xbox is in a very bad position and the future doesn't look bright at all.

Developers aren't stupid.
If that was the case, those marketing deals would have already worked different in the past.
Just imagine a CoD version running noticably worse for no reason at all..That's just not gonna happen.
Developers want the best possible on the market, marketing deals are targets towards different things.

Scalebound was more than a game, it was a symbol showing that MS could still bring some new spicy games onto their classic portfolio filled with Halo Gears and Forza (which are games I appreciate generally speaking, FH3 is one of the best games of this generation).

And they showed they can't for some reason.

Also according to shinobi crackdown 3 is not in a good shape either, so I wouldn't hold the hope...

That's the thing though, it's not a new console. It's an Xbox One. So, the current pessimism regarding the XBO's lineup extends directly to the Scorpio.

That's not to say there won't be new games, but expecting new console launch caliber announcements would be a mistake IMO.

I was under the impression that people thought Scalebound looked pretty average. I don't know where the reversal came from.

Then sign with a non-timed exclusive 3rd part game(s)? it's not like they never did this before.
 
In my view, the various pulled projects, the closed divisions, the opening up of software to the PC market, tied in with the change of command at MS, all points to a winding down of the Xbox division, or prep for sale to a third party.

Which puts a lot of pressure and significance on Scorpio. The console they create, the way they market it and the support they give it will tell a lot about how MS sees the future of the Xbox brand and how invested they are in it.

Frankly, I Wang them to succeed. I want Scorpio to succeed. Competition is healthy for the console sector and wider gaming market.

But I really have no idea how this plays out. So I am waiting with a bit of trepidation to see what they put out.

I noticed this too. But still this doesn't change anything. The Scalebound cancellation is a bad move in terms of brand image.
 
What Scalebound's loss to me means a loss of personality. Scalebound was an initiative to show that the 360 era can still live within the Xbox community. This was the first step to entice Japanese developers to create more for the xbox, and more importantly the new Xbox Scorpio and forward.

With this gone, my attraction to the next system dies a little bit. There is almost no possible way to announce a brand new game at e3 2017 and have it release in time for the Scorpio. Especially to put any sense of ease on the flames that developing for MS is hell on top of the hell you already face with your own challenges as a developer/studio.

They don't even have marketing rights for a vast majority of 3rd party games. What will they show to reference the quality of Scorpio's power? Fake ass In-Engine demos for vaporware? Can't fool us forever.

This cancellation is more than just a GAME. It was an idea, a personality, a hope for a bigger list of games for the xbox's we play.

anywho ... maybe after a couple weeks and we finally get some detail on scorpio's hardware, ill be happier lol

Didn't say they would purposely gimp the Scorpio version, just not support it. Like I said look at PS4 Pro. A lot of those games I mentioned are probably releasing before November so support isn't exactly guaranteed. That's all I'm saying.

Even if Sony isn't involved, there's still the distinct possibility that lots of major games might not take advantage of Scorpio, like PS4 Pro.

It happened everytime so far, except for Ori all new IPs were failures (quality wise or commercially or both or cancelled).
 
I've never owned an Xbox and quite frankly I have always disliked Microsoft's corporate culture, but I have been leaning toward the possibility of purchasing a Scorpio if it has a lot of exclusives. At this rate they won't have shit for me to justify purchasing one considering I already own a PS4. I'd be throwing my money away in the face of knowing how they treat their IPs.

I can honestly say Scalebound has absolutely no impact on my Scorpio purchase either way, as I thought it looked a bit pish anyway.

I would however like to see MS invest in building more internal studios and AAA titles to appeal to their core audience. Scalebound and other stuff like whatever they were trying to do with Phantom Dust for instance just doesn't cut it IMO. They're bad investments and they would've been better putting those resources elsewhere from the start.

It would be neat if unlike the PS4 Pro, Scorpio was able to use more resources that would improve the other games even without a patch in a more PC style.

My limited understanding of the way the PS4 Pro is setup is the GPU is essentially doubled and the CPU is clocked up so for existing games it clocks the CPU back down, ignores the additional RAM and disables the second half of the GPU.

Since Scorpio sounds like it will have a completely different CPU/GPU and likely even RAM setup than the Xbox One, it would be neat if the extra power could be used to improve things. Then again, it could also make things worse if existing games had trouble adapting to the different hardware configuration. I clearly know little to nothing about software/hardware development.

Could be an opportunity there for Xbox.

A symbol, lol? I agree that they need more variety, but the game was obviously a fucking mess and was never going to be what we wanted it to be. Which is the reason for the fuckery and pulling the plug and I don't blame them.

Look, I was was extremely excited for Scalebound and love Platinum games, but it is not Microsoft's fault that they could not deliver by now. Platinum are not some group of spotless gods who can do no wrong. The game was in development hell and Microsoft rightly dropped it.

It'll be Vega, which is the next gen AMD architecture releasing this year.

It will already have vega gpu which is good enough for the target of 6TF and ample memory b/w. It's a year behind PS4 Pro so no delay please.

Good to know, I think CD3 will make it out and will end up being an enjoyable game. To me the first CD was a gem not so much the 2nd shitty zombie one (how original). Really hope MS does something like announcing a few new never before seen games releasing in time for scorpio or shortly after. They've done it before but I'm just gonna wait and see.

This E3 will be telling if I plan to invest more in the Xbox ecosystem or if more of my money will go to Sony (I try to be equal with both). I feel the same way about Scalebound, it really added a much needed title in their portfolio and well now it's gone.

I know there are talks about their new vision of that minecraft gaming scheme but I don't see why they think they can't have the heavy MP focused games and also drop the more story driven single player experiences as well. I'm still excited about the prospects about Scorpio but if they keep axing games for whatever reason and have nothing to show this thing off I probably won't be getting one.
