Do people really care that much about scalebound? Wasn't a title I was particularly interested in and has no bearing on any future Scorpio purchase.

I don't understand all the doom and gloom, Scorpio (if its as powerful as MS are boasting) "should" have the best version of all the 3rd party titles as well as Forza, Gears, Halo as well as a few new IP's.

If you don't enjoy MS exclusives then I can see the Scorpio is less appealing, but it works both ways, I'm sure many people like myself aren't that excited about PS exclusives either and have decided to skip the Pro and wait and see how the Scorpio turns out.

Yeah I think we're on the same page ( -your unexcitement for PS exclusives). I'm not getting Scorpio for exclusives. Moreso RDR2 and others.

Yesterday, but can't remember which thread.

It wasn't just CCIE.

Doesn't matter, the fact that why would Scorpio need "launch line up"? PS4 Pro doesn't have that and it's doing fine.
All Scorpio need is a 1st and 3rd party games that make a Scorpio patch, not games launch with it, it's not a new gen console, it just an upgrade model.

Seriously i don't even see Forza 7 will launch with Scorpio unless Scorpio launch date is September or early October.

Omg one game got cancelled and now my "insiders" are right!! Lmao guys let's wait to see thier full portfolio for this year before you go nuts

Scalebound looked like it was in trouble back in 2015. The devs are working on like 3 other games at the same time.

Let me try this.... Sony is delaying a game soon and if they do their entire company is at risk. Yea my friend told me /s

Exactly, Scorpio doesn't need launch games in the traditional sense because whatever big game is releasing for Xbox One around that time, along with the entire Xbox One games lineup and 360 BC, will be available from day one.

Very. I remember the shitposting about Scalebound when it was still in progress. Now it's everyone's favorite game I guess?

Yup.

Now it's Microsoft's ultimate crime against humanity. If they had released it, then Microsoft gets roasted for letting a half-assed game go out the door.

Welcome to the Internet

Funny enough in the real world there's no change. 99% of consumers buying a Xbox have no clue what scalebound is. Were there even any preorders?

So some people aren't going to buy a Scorpio because Scalebound was cancelled? OK, well I suppose that's a legit reason if Scalebound was the only game that interested you. Personally, I had almost no interest in SB and it certainly has absolutely no bearing on whether I would buy a Scorpio or not.

I've been gaming on Xbox since the 360. I'm happy with the games & online service that the Xbox ecosystem provides and all my gaming friends are there. It's for these reasons that I bought an XB1 at launch (when it wasn't the most popular thing to do) and they're the same reasons I'll buy a Scorpio.

I dig Forza, Halo, and Gears, but TBH, I typically spend a lot more time playing 3rd party titles on my Xbox and I don't expect that to change when I'm gaming on Scorpio. I agree with those who say Xbox needs to do better with 1st party games and they need some new IPs. However, I feel that Phil Spencer has been doing a great job and I'm confident that he's got a plan.

So late in 2017 I'll be buying a Scorpio and I'll likely spend the majority of my time playing 3rd party titles. I'll be in my happy place :) with my friends on Xbox Live. The extra power of Scorpio promised by Phil & the team at Xbox, will just be an added bonus.

You should really stop being so reasonable and content. ;-)

This is my feeling exactly. Sometimes I feel like I'm in an alternate universe. I've had an XB1 since launch, and all I have had a lots of great games to play. I don't spend much time thinking about what I don't have, other than the time I need to finish my backlog of games.

Commercials - trailers - announcements of these games from Sony. like below quote- i guess it's not the VAST majority but maybe i should have said the POPULAR MAJORITY of 3rd party games. Or do you have a source where COD/Destiny2/RDR2/Battlefont/ME:A will partner with xbox this year?

Relax. I'm not proclaiming doom and gloom. I am stating my perspective on the situation as of RIGHT NOW. looking at previous events, MS has been battling up-hill to prove to gamers they are working for gamers. They have done quite a good number of things, but lets not list that stuff out. AND i know the scoropio isn't exclusive when it comes to games.

I am simply talking about a Marketing Standpoint. When commercials air, when gaming sties post trailers, when news outlets talk about games people will see Sony. and as i mentioned above, i should have said the POPULAR 3rd party games marketing rights. So that means majority to me if they have COD/Destiny2 and then they also have RDR2 and Battlefront. those along are the MAJOR players for the holiday. Those sell consoles

Look at the last two years with MS and their announcements. Look at it realisticly and say to us in a straight face that come e3 2017 there will be a brand new game ready for Holiday Launch that will utilize the Scorpio.

You mention Halo 5, yet i doubt you even play. I play every day and i wouldn't give two shits if they showed me a CAMPAIGN level in full 1080p 60fps. No-one would lose their shit over this. We don't even have any type of confirmation that older games will be or can be patched to 'Scorpio' levels - we need more time and info to trickle to us. Only thing they have mentioned is the automatic benefit of Games that have Scaling Resolutions to output at full frame buffer.

They have faked demos before - every publisher has done this. Couple Examples: Halo 2, Bioshock: Infinite and others could list the bullshots/bulltrailers released at e3 and when the final game came out it was different. ahem - WD.

I was playing a fresh run of Halo 5's campaign just last night lol. You must seriously not know how much I love Halo. Also resolution isn't the only thing Halo 5 scales up and down, to my knowledge; I believe it does the same with other visual tricks and effects. Quantum Break looked better in the final game. I'm personally not too worried about them faking much of anything. I've always been good at extrapolating what can be taken at face value and what can't be. this way I'm not surprised.

edit: For other people that have said this, Microsoft will never close the Xbox division. Haven't people realized this by now? It's simply too valuable an asset to a lot of the objectives Microsoft has for the consumer space of products (xbox is by far their most popular consumer entertainment product) gaming on Windows, their digital store, things like DirectX and driving adoption of the various new tools and standards they are trying to develop. Take one look at Microsoft's UWP goals, their play anywhere initiative, and you can very easily ascertain that Microsoft, even if they should decrease their efforts to secure xbox exclusives, will maintain their big presence in gaming, and their best avenue for doing so is xbox. The future is more engagement and interaction through services, not less. If Microsoft ditches Xbox they throw away the best entertainment focused avenue they will ever have towards the age demographic they try to appeal to with their most premium consumer based products, and those products help drive usage of their services.

Xbox isn't going away anytime soon, if ever.

I dont agree with that. A visually impressive game will absolutely cause people to get "more" excited for a game. BF1 is a perfect example of this. Graphics alone got people exited and the gameplay is top notch. As for halo5, they did say that games where the resolution changes depending on whats happening on screen will just run at their max framerate on Scorpio. Visual updates i doubt will happen unless the game is coming out close to the Scorpio launch like what happened to a lot of Pro games.

And you say they faked demos, halo2 demo wasnt faked. Its what they planned on doing until they started actually trying to do that on an xbox instead of a PC and realized that they couldnt get it to run well. They didnt purposefully say "hey lets make something really amazing that we know we cant do".

I'm shocked there hasn't been any word about a Minecraft 2 yet. Make it a timed exclusive to Xbox and Scorpio/X1 sales will explode.

Minecraft is still selling like hotcakes. Making a sequel means treading lightly.

There's also the question of what a sequel would actually look like.

I'm talking about a new Minecraft game... not the same old same old

Don't mods ban guys like you if you don't put up your sources?

Characterizing it as a love for SB is so incredibly simplistic.

But I guess the same shit happened when the Phantom Dust debacle happened. People miss the forest from the trees.

I don't know if Scorpio will be delayed. I was told that by two people last time I was in Redmond... a few weeks ago. My personal opinion is that it will make X-Mas, but barely. As for the rest, that is the scuttlebut among various MS employees. I work with MS from time to time, but not with the game division at all. My experience is with MS, corporate, and what I hear from my friends

Only reason they'll delay Scorpio or talk about it is Zen. That is the only thing that can have them thinking delaying. Maybe they're waiting to see if AMD can deliver earlier then expected like 8gb gddr5 chip did for ps4

Possible delay due to having less resources to R&D the device?

I don't think they really NEED scorpio to come out this fall. Plenty of big 3rd party software will keep XB1 selling well enough through 2017 and into 2018. I do question if they'll just say fuck it and call scorpio XB2 or something to start completely fresh (while keeping it BC w/ xb1 obviously)

Halo 2 demo of the city? All made as an idea and not full representative of the final game. Thats fake. None of that level made it into the game

Halo 5 graphics wont wow anyone. Does the current 4k pc build bring in ppl? Nope. They need a new game with better engine assests then talk to me.about bf1 appeal.

Again this is about halo 5 scorpio. We already see its potential with pc now.

PD is no where near the size of what's going on with SB. It was some fuss but was quickly cleared up and later redeemed with PD remaster otw.

Or they try a repeat of the 360's playbook of trying to pivot on a generation reset and beating out the next Playstation by a year or so.

I'm pretty sure R&D was not the reason - it was a conversation. We were talking games, and I told them I considered buying a XB1 S over Black Friday, but was waiting on Scorpio. A pair of customers at the table told me I should have just bought it - Scorpio was going to be a longer wait than I expected. Asked for clarification, but they wouldn't give me any.

So no idea.

I would've told you the same thing. It's a year from launch

The timing of all the people with "inside info" about negative MS related information almost always makes me doubt its validity.

The beauty of ntkrnl was not only that he/she was one of the very rare instances of not automatically being negative MS info, but the timing was random. It didn't just happen to be right before a big event, or a pike on top of already bad news, or around the same time as some positive news.

It was months before E3.

Some are like that imo but I think shinobi isn't facetious

All this gloom and doom with Xbox is crap. Xbox sold a whole lot of Xbox slim the last couple of months. I have no doubt that the big developers have scorpion development kits all ready. The people at Microsoft are not stupid they will make very sure that the scorpion is a very powerful system. They know that people perception that games run better on the ps4 effected them selling lots of games. Microsoft games division is not closing down anytime soon.

No your are right not over night. But it could be either transitioning to games as a service like Shinobi hinted at, or they could be trying to reboot xbox brand with scorpio and that could go ether way as some have pointed out.

I doubt xbox is going anywhere. Its always around this time that some "insiders' have sources. Xbox is too big to drive into the ground and selling them off wont happen. too expensive.

Games as a service however is a possibility. MS has always drove towards this trend.

Didn't people speak up about their" games as a service" nonsense after the reveal?

lol.

If I had a nickel for every time someone claim xbox is going down.

And it happens when MS are about to announce/release a new console.
