Xbox Sale Round-up - Summer Sales Now Live (Jul 14th)

adamsapple

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
EDIT:

SUMMER SALE WITH 600+ ITEMS IS NOW LIVE.

Original OP:

A very good sales round up for this week curated courtesy of TA.com. A lot of XBO games as well but the highlight is tons of BC games and their DLC being on sale, plenty of games that I've never seen on sale before like Silent Hill: Homecoming for $7.

-

You can check which games have further enhancements like higher resolution or FPS boost here:

-

Notable example: Darksiders 1 is on sale for $4.99, it runs at 4K & 60 FPS with FPS boost and One X enhancements, and basically outperforms the $20 remaster.

Other notable sales include MGS Peace Walker HD and Silent Hill: Homecoming, neither of which have been on sale since forever, all the 360 CoD games, Asura's Wrath, the two Lords of Shadow Castlevania games, Persona 4 Arena, Condemned Criminal Origins and more.

Thanks for heads up

NP.

Just a heads up, while the MGS HD collection featuring MGS 2 and 3 has been taken off the store due to licensing, the Peace Walker HD is still there. I don't recall if it had that many licensed things in it but there's a chance that may also get taken off in the future.

So, anyone who wants it, this is a good time to get it at sub $10.

Good looking out. Nabbed Space Hulk Tactics, Silent Hill Homecoming and Peace Walker.

I have never played a SH before, and I have heard only the worst things about the HD collection, but is it really so bad that it wouldn't be worth it for someone who never experienced the original? Was considering picking that up as well.

How come I can't find those in the store?

They're there in the US links, not sure if you are from another region.

Yay or nay on Homecoming?

I would say yay just for it being on this heavy of a sale for the first time ever. It's not the best SH game, but it's the first one of those made by a Western studio so it's still somewhat passable.

SH Homecoming's PC port has a lot of issues and doesn't work great for most people, so this is likely one of the better ways to replay it in modern times anyway.

Managed to sort out Silent Hill: Homecoming and Catherine outside of the US.

Bought a voucher, used a VPN, then changed my accounts region temporarily, activated the voucher, bought the games, switched my Xbox region to the US for a bit, searched the games (Homecoming didn't appear in my region but for some reason, Downpour which is available nowhere to buy digitally, did) and installed, switched back. Fairly easy.

Once you have the credit in your account you don't even have to change regions anymore. You just have to have to the correct currency available.

Also Rumble Roses and Peace Walker never go on sale so it'd be a good time to get those two.

Ah, unfortunately that's a case that goes beyond this sale lol.

Homecoming was seemingly never rated or released in Australia officially.

You've never played Silent Hill before and your starting with the worse one out of the series which wasn't even developed by Team Silent?!

Dude. Get the HD collection. They are playable and pure cult classics. Then play Homecoming after if you really really have too. Silent Hill 3 is the better port out of the collection and a very good game but Silent Hill 2 is a god damn master piece and work of art that not even a bad port could ruin. Do it.

MGS collection got taken down due to licensing? Did Konami lose the rights to MGS or something?

You can still buy a US Gift Card and change your console region for a brief while.

I did it and it worked fine.

Only caveat, is that you can only see the game in the library when it is not installed by changing back to US. When it is installed it is shown fine.

Rayman 3 HD, is this worth going for if you like 3D platformers?

For some reason, I never got around to the Rayman 3D platformers.

Message received! I was going to get the HD Collection back when it first came out, but it really irked me that it didn't include the first Silent Hill (I always try to play through a series chronologically when able unless it's too archaic to be enjoyable), then I heard all the negativity about the ports and thought I dodged a bullet. All this time later I thought we'd get a port of the original by now but maybe I should give up on that and just emulate.

I'll go ahead and pick up the HD Collection.

I would caution you against picking up the Silent Hill HD collection. Those are some of the worst versions of SH2 and 3 you can play.

If you have the means, you should look at playing the game any other way (PS2 emulation, PC version with fan mods etc).

If those aren't an option, then sure it's a viable option.

But then there's also plagiarized theme in MSG2.
Thats never been a subject of Law or anything, just not used after 3

Also for those looking for PW, search "MGS PW HD" for some reason Xbox's search is fucking broken and cannot find it, alternatively, find the HD collection and its linked in the related part of that page

Also is Silent Hill Homecoming not available in the UK either?

The last great Metal game to be produced since MGS 4? Definitely warrants a purchase....ironically when first released I didn't have the means to play P.W as it wasn't on the PS3/360 so I ended up watching the walkthrough... :messenger_grinning_smiling: If you look at these titles shown on what's available you can only DREAM of getting that sort of a catalogue on the B.C list for the Playstation

It's only bad if you have played them on the OG hardware. If you have nothing to compare it with then it's absolutely fine.

True, true. Unfortunately I'm exposed to all the versions so I can't un-see the flaws.

Anyway.

Another interesting game from the sale is Condemned: Criminal Origins. It's less than $5, it never got any One X enhancements, but the game ran with a frame rate that has a soft lock at 45 FPS like the Arkham remaster. Which makes it an excellent purchase if you have a VRR display. 45 FPS on a VRR display will play with a smooth response, no judder during movement and it will look and feel a lot more smoother than a 30 FPS lock.

So that's worth considering as well.

It's an excellent game. I remember playing it when it first released and being blown away by the graphics at the time. I'm just holding myself back from getting it just in case I'm looking back at it through nostalgia glasses and it doesn't play well or look that good today.

Saying that I am currently playing Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory using XsX BC and outside of the NPC models it still honestly looks and plays great. How does Condemned work out without VRR?

I played the SH games on OG hardware too and still play 2 on PC using the excellent fan mod pack, but 3 I play via this collection and it's really OK to be honest, the replacement of the OG voice cast aside. Just a damn shame they never included 1 and 4 tbh.

How do I block users who limit who can view their profiles, who never post anything, but just add trolling lol emojis on posts that aren't intended as funny just to ruffle their fanboywarhead feathers?

I want a cleaner, less juvenile gaf experience. Help me clean out the trash ❤️

Another new weekly sale, most notable game is Lost Odyssey for just $6. BC compatible. Also includes good games like Witcher 3 Complete Edition for $9.99 and more.

Click on the notification, click thier name click ignore. At least on mobile that works, not near a PC to test it there.

Damn what a weak sale. Hoping for a summer sale in the next couple weeks!

There were a bunch of great 360 era BC games, so I guess it varies by person. But I thought it was a great sale for games that usually never go on sale otherwise.
