I wonder why the ps5 is in such short supply? Maybe just more world wide demand? Less fab space because of increased competition from other industries?
It will be both supply and demand as most things in the world. We already knew Sony was going to be producing/supplying less ps5 this quarter compared to previous ones.

Yeah, the series x is very much demanded relative to supply.

I think we generally have been badly conditioned by the last two years to think stock on shelves is a bad thing.
That's a bot depressing. We are either submitting to scalpers dictating the cost of goods, or if other ppl can buy it its worthless.

Sad state of affairs right there.

Welcome to 16+ years ago, the guy is a grifter but if you're not British you'll not be aware of him being a small fish in a small pond. He's the UK's Jason Scehrier except not as good as baiting the woke for views.
He Deffo leans more PlayStation so its always interesting to hear his takes.
Vgchartz counts today?

Anyway with stock available you get sales.
GJ Teamxbox.
When the later year games release it will be real interesting.
It's not vgcharts read the op ;)
How does April - June look?

Xbox outsell Switxh again?
Would be insane for xbox to outsell PlayStation in UK and USA for 6 months if the year.

Look. It could just be me, but I don't understand the logic of how can you have zero problems selling something that you can't make? Sooner or later, people may move on and the opportunity will be gone.

Edit: Imagine you invested 500 mil in R&D and you sell only 400 consoles.
It’s a minor problem, they’re still breaking records, just could’ve sold even more if they had bigger supply.

I wonder how MS can have sorted out their supply issues? Series S has been available but Series X, is it readily available on shelves now?

Series X still depends by country. Can't get Series X on Amazon UK or US from amazon themselves.

It's a question that I am also curious about.

I do not think that supply issue is a minor problem for Sony and MS. It probably affects Sony more, given their indented strategy for this generation. If supply issues persist throughout this year and going to holiday period, it will become a significant problem. Unfortunately, this is something Sony and MS have a very little control over.
I don't think MS entirely sorted their supply issues with X. My wild guess would be, more people are buying S as they cannot find PS5 and X on the shelves, or MS received backlogged parts for X and its now pushing more through the channel.

Makes sense with the supply. Since the start of the gen this is the first time the Xbox Series X is available for more than 3 days in a row. The Xbox Series S has been easily available for the longest time. Hopefully this is the start of consoles becoming more easily available.

No idea. I am expecting some PS5 drops (more than Q1 2022 at least) considering they didn't ship much in the last 2 months. They also had confirmed that they will ship the least units in Q1 2022. All depends on how long was that dry spell for them, and what their Q2 forecasts are.

I think part of it is because MS manufactures Xbox in China as well as Mexico. Sony produces PlayStations only in China. And if supply chain is affected in China, that has a bigger impact on Sony.

(disclaimer: this Mexico thing is something that I've heard a couple of times, but I don't know for sure).

Logistics, resources and strategic planning.

Eu ps sales will explode if it's availbe on a store it never is easily available and by the looks of it , it won't be for a long time.eu Is ps territory and such shortage of in demand console is mindboggling

I think the Mexico thing is to do with avoiding import taxes (which are passed on to the consumer) when selling a product in Mexico. Not sure how many of those are exported.

So true, I can imagine the gritted teethe and the need to spin it anyway he can.

These shortages suck though, I wonder how far ps5 is tracking behind ps4 now. I wonder when Sony will announce their numbers.
Just a while ago, they had headlines like «Sony dominates UK charts» - using the same word two or three weeks in a row when Sony had the most sales. DOMINATING.

When Microsoft has most sales, and even ahead of Switch?

«Another tough month»

The tough month is referring to the fact that consoles sales were down YoY. Tough month for the industry to get stock, not on your sensibilities.

Xbox series X has been relatively easy to get in the UK at RRP. I just went on amazon a few months ago and bought it without any pre planning, just fancied getting one to be able to play Forza Horizon downstairs with my feet up and so I did.

I think that's something you can't discount, the ability to just buy the product you want for the price its supposed to cost, add onto the fact that Gamepass is as people know great value and it was a no brainer to buy one after getting my PS5.

FinancialGAF at its best :p , i dont like ur console warring about sales or anything else, but here is my take why XSS is counted in those numbers, its literally 4tflops aka last gen, or does tflops matter now ?

It said Vgchartz when I made the post.

If you had spent 2 seconds to read the OP's post before replying, you wouldn't look like a clown. The GI.Biz info has been there since the topic was made.

Isn't this actually showing that decline in demand though? People were saying it was in stock for days because it was a huge supply drop yet sales were down from last year and the months before.

No, all 3 consoles having limited stock, but Xbox having more availability than PS doesn't show a decline in demand.

I swear the hoops some of y'all feel the need to jump through. If mental gymnastics was an olympic event, this post would win gold. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Xbox should sell better than Playstation for all the year.
We have no indication on Sony's plans for units to be produced for the rest of the year. They already said they had planned for like 2M PS5 for this trimester that just ended.

Their conference call for the fiscal year is going to give us a bigger insight on their plans.

A broken clock is right 2 times a day…

Except the info in OP doesn't come from VGChartz.

They simply wrote the article quoting the GI.Biz info.

So many posts in this topic are redundant because people didn't choose to read OP before replying, lol.

People were saying the Series X consoles were in stock for days because it was a massive supply of consoles. However, Xbox sales were actually down meaning it wasn't due to more supply this month. This is showing demand has decreased enough that they don't sell out in minutes and the ones that did were less than before. That is showing a decline in demand and not a change in supply or higher supply. Whatever floats your boat though.

More stocks, doesn't mean selling fast.

The more stock that you have, that harder it is to sell faster.

You sell faster, when you have low stock.

10 consoles is easy to sell, compared to 100 console.

Wish you people understand that.

They didn't pull the numbers out their ass it called a estimate lol
But estimate is just pulling numbers of their ass. You can do it… I can do it… everybody can do it.

Now how these estimates will be accurate well it is another story.

Yes but the supply drop wasn't even that high if the now sold out amount doesn't equate to a higher number than before.

100 XSX in a month last year sell out in minutes, 90 XSX this year sell out in days. What does that equate to to you?

First year it will sell faster, because everyone is on high alert.
Now, people are taking their time.

The first year is when the demand is always high, due to them being new.

Until the consoles are on the shelves on every store, they will sell out.

you are essentially saying the same thing then. Demand has decreased.

It was exactly the same supply constraint a month or two ago when he made those Sony dominating headlines.

But its only a factor when Xbox is doing well, of course.

«Xbox dominating amid supply constraints»

Not that hard, see?

Demand has not decreased. What point do you not understand?

The fact that the consoles aren't on stores like normal, shows you how crazy is the demand.

Each store can only hold certain units on the self, because of the demand.

Can you point me to which article you're on about? As far as I know this is the only month targets were cut and consoles saw a drop like this.

Yes, worldwide demand. Found plenty in my country recently and it's much easier to get. Xbox doesn't sell here at all and if any found here they're US spec (imported).
Well, I can tell you, that we are PlayStation country since dawn of time, but I still can't find Series X on store shelves on through online shopping because it's always sold out. Series S is different story.
