YouTube is banning accounts for "objectionable" content. It's past time to start using alternatives.

Oh man, I had to check it out. Imagine the kind of human that comes out on the other end of that kind of wild propaganda. Whoa.
I’ve found interesting people there, like shadiversity, whatdamath, naomi brockwell…It takes a bit of looking sometimes

No doubt, but I also don't engage with any political videos on YT. This is what my homepage looks like as of this morning:

Don't give that crap space in your brain or it will rot.

I watch a lot of biblical commentaries on YT, but I do not watch much political stuff. But if you are not aligned with their narrative they will find a way to ban you or strip your revenue.

I tried reading the Bible once. I had to stop when I got to the part where Lot's daughters got him drunk and raped him. Some crazy shit you Christians get into.

I wouldn't say that was an act that was condoned but an act that was told. Ultimately it is a book about redemption and how even the worst of things can be redeemed through the sacrifice of Christ, but there are certainly some rough stories in the bible. But it certainly doesn't shy away from showing mankind at their worst, and tell them how to receive grace and forgiveness. But if you want to talk more about it, PM me so we don't derail this cool thread about censorship.

The REALLY shit part of youtube os they will wake up one day and arbitrarily change their standards and then that’s it, you’re fucked. No communication. Nothing. You’re just fucked. Google is a cancer on this earth, and YouTube was better before ads and monetization.

Yeah, the most recent change they made are a good example of this. Negatively impacts a lot of channels for no real reason. Advertising in general has far too much sway on public discourse.

There's an old Bill Hicks quote, "If anyone here is in advertising or marketing.... kill yourself." A bit harsh perhaps but I've found it to be mostly spot-on.

What's the policy and how you didn't violate it? Looks pretty cut and dry yo me. And 'barely anyone watched it' is a terrible counter argument.
Uhh huh, so it's "pretty cut and dry" to you that I violated the policy, but also you want me to send you the policy because you have no idea what it says. And obviously I can't show you the video because they deleted it instantly since apparently appealing voided the 24-hour window they claimed I had to redownload it.

The fact that I'm the only person who had recently watched it wasn't a "counter argument", it was adding to the context that the whole removal was automated, and at no point was there an actual person who for instance went to the effort of reporting my video (because what is there to report? it's clips from a multiplayer video game)

So seemingly your position "well obviously he did something wrong because why else would a kind benevolent corporation like Google delete his content?"

The video title was a joking reference to all the videos coming out of Syria of dudes blowing up Assad's helicopters and tanks. And, of course, you can still find all those videos of real people dying in war all over YouTube but somehow their brilliant algorithm made sure my Battlefield 4 montage could no longer "glorify terrorism"

Rumble's homepage is a conservative hellhole. Plus, not a single creator I follow on YouTube posts there.

There is no alternative right now. Elon gets a lot of shit, but Twitter has never been better. He has been talking about improving the video side of Twitter.

I agree with you there. It’s very one sided at a glance and unappealing. It took me some time to balance things out

Well once again finding violent videos has nothing to do with your issue. You got banned cause you broke the rules.

The sanitization of the internet continues.

Say what you will about the skeezy ads of the old internet, but at least they didn't try to curate everything.

She had her vids banned.

I'm happy I can still watch assholes doing Mukbang vids though.

I had to check the date of the OP. How is anyone only noticing this now? It's been going on for at least half a decade.

It's one of those, nobody notices or cares until the Overton shifts so far it starts to swallow things up that they enjoy as well. Apathy, really.

I'd say it's pretty much the proverbial "boiling frog" but I wouldn't post that because I don't want to catch a permaban for promoting animal cruelty. On a totally unrelated note I'd just like to let everyone know that I will not be playing Hogwarts Legacy because I find it very problematic.

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.

Five years ago it was a bunch of channels no one had heard of. This time there are several mentioned that I have at least seen a couple of their videos that have been nuked, and several more getting warnings and strikes that I watch regularly.

Before it was small channels that YouTube didn't make any money on, and people at the time posted that "yeah I remember this or that video, they said something that could have been construed as violent/bigoted/etc." for most of them. It's not the same kind of channels this time.

I see you are going for the anti-marketing dollar, that's a huge market.

I mean, it's run by one of the largest companies in the world, and is reliant on advertising.

I wondered how long it was gonna be a wild west. Back in the day people were posting full length movies(not like old movies of today), porn, gore vids, constantly re-uploading popular content stolen from other creators etc. Well I guess it still goes on today, but a lot less.

They still aren't fully in line with radio or tv standards, but it's still something that they held out this long in what content was thrown up there and still got monetised. Not sure why people expect to say anything they want and still get paid by advertisers, or can up anything they want to on the site.

Anyway, I was kind of expecting to find a decent alternative here, but some of these sites are well...a shithole of content, like a circlejerk in pit latrine. But it's to be expected, it's not like Youtube actually makes a profit. No decent alternatives, but at least people can still post whatever content they want even if Youtube pulls it down or whatever. At least there's archival value.

Same here. I'm perfectly content with the biggest content platform being privatised and therefore have full control over what content can or can not be accessible.

Nevermind going into the the details of the process from which said censorship protocols manifests.

I'd like to see a response from you when something You like gets banned.

There is no escaping youtube, but at least we have some tools to make it less intrusive.
On my desktop I am using freetube application, you don't have to login, but you can subscribe to channels if you wish, you can remove suggested and popular videos and set it to show only your subscriptions, you can have multiple profiles with different subscriptions, also it has ad and sponsor block option.

I usually watch before bed so that's why i have only gaming channels.

What is something of yours that has been banned?

What's the motivation behind your curiosity?

Edit: only one I have interest in.
Because the thread is about YouTube removing channels and you along with a couple of other people have now implied that people will only be mad when something that they enjoy gets removed, but I have yet to see any actual examples of channels that have been removed.

So if you have this swath of channels or if someone else does I would be interested in knowing what they were and why they were banned.

Does anybody know what the MMA channel that got a bunch of their videos taken down? They had a series of videos going over what pro-wrestling submission holds actually hurt and would be actually do-able in a fight and their videos got taken down.

Like I said. I know of one. And lots of videos being removed. Gave a recent example in the Tom Brady thread.

Perhaps you can quote and ask the other implyiers as well to satisfy your curiosity.
